Nowt wrong with the finishes yesterday, just great goalkeeping
The three sitters that Billy hit with his knee and miskicked with his foot were not good goalkeeping. The keeper shouldn’t have even seen them.
He should have buried them out of sight. But for Billy the game would have been over at half time. The one from 2 yards out was given offside. I don’t know what was worse, him putting it wide or being offside for such an obvious ball.
We’ve absolved Sharp and Clarke in the past for lack of service. Not that Billy ever creates anything for himself anyway, though Clarke did and his lack of confidence showed.
The strikers owe the rest of the team a clinical performance on Monday. Billy was a deserved 8/10 vs Leeds and likewise for Reading so I’m not anti-Sharp by any means but 4/10 yesterday, abject finishing. Clarke maybe 5/10 for creating his own opening. Not good enough, same with Donaldson. 2 1 v 1s.
These are the fine margins. With Derby’s shock result we could have put Boro behind us too with such a difficult game on Monday.
These are season defining moments. You leapfrog Boro and even a bad result on Monday you can best them at home to go above them once more. Now a bad result Monday and you’re still behind them even if you do beat them.
Before the game, good result. Given the way it played out and their 2 clear chances perhaps to our 6 or 7 and it was a dreadful waste of two significant points.
We’re running out of chances and we need to pass 3 teams in a short space of time.
