To any Blade having a melt down

Liverpool's midfield have some points on the board!

I genuinely see no evidence for this easy survival people assure me we're going to have, I'd love to know what they see that makes them think that.
Well we've barely got going in an attacking sense, but defence and Berge have been good. Despite losing them all (harshly) we've only conceded 6 goals overall in 4 games. Most teams in the league have been hammered at least once already (including today Liverpool 7 and Man Utd 6!).

Really important to also note that we're trying to evolve by replacing our previously main man, Oli Norwood.

Berge is looking class, but can't expect him to immediately pull every string the way Norwood had been.

Brewster will hopefully show his class quite quickly.

We're managed by Chris Wilder.

I'd take any bet anyone offered about us getting relegated. I'd be stunned if that happens to us this season.

34 games left.

No melt downs yet, just feeling a bit down about it all. Constant decisions going against us is horrible. Now seeing Villa smash Liverpool, I'm feeling pretty jealous.

I feel we need more creativity in the side, look at the difference it is for Villa when they have Grealish and Barkley creating.

Its not all doom and gloom, mid 30s should be enough points and there is plenty of time for us to get that. We are not a million miles away. Plus plenty of young exciting players to come through. I feel like with the squad we have now, if we can just stay up this season, we can really kick on next season and hopefully crowds will back then too.

Madness to think we'll stay up easily, I reckon. We might stay up but it'll be an almighty scrap.

That midfield we put out today just isn't Premier League quality. Any team in the league would fancy their chances lining up against that.

We stayed up easily last season with a first choice midfield of Norwood, Fleck, Lundstram / Berge. We still have this midfield?

I don't subscribe to the feeling that we will easily survive. We've lost our last 7 league games. Scoring goals is a massive problem.

We're going into games with a massively underperforming Enda Stevens (he needs a rest), and then Championship standard players like Jack Robinson, Ben Osborn & John Lundstram. Up front, I can't imagine anybody panicking too much about playing Oli Burke & David McGoldrick.

We're not able to control possession with our 3 man midfield and we're playing a direct style of football which doesn't enable us to play our overloads out wide. Everything that made us so good last season seems to have disappeared.

Moreover, lots of sides we expected to be better than have strengthened whilst we look worse without Henderson, O'Connell & Mousset. I'm struggling to see which 3 teams we're going to finish above.

I meant the midfield that started today, not the squad. Osborn Berge Lundstram would get anyone relegated, well with this version of Lundstram anyway.

We will need to get 6 points from both Fulham & WBA.

3 points from Southampton (h), West Ham (h), Newcastle (h) and Villa (h)

1 point from Brighton (a), Burnley (a) and Palace (a),

Our last 6 games of the season are: Brighton (h), Spurs (a), Palace (h), Everton (a), Newcastle (a) & Burnley (h).

We are in all likelihood going to need 10 points from 18, and will probably face Burnley in a relegation decider.

Some good points. Perhaps Enda does need a rest but we do have quality cover in that area. Also, to be fair Robinson & Osborn can be replaced with Ampadu and Fleck who are PL quality. If Brewster gets anywhere near potential he will be a far better striker than Mousset.

Us losing 1-0 at Villa with 10 men looks fabulous now they've beaten Liverpool 7-2

I knew you would say this. The problem is we’ve still got 0 points so it’s of absolutely no relevance to us at all. It’s like a playground comment from primary school.

We will stay up.
We've had a bit of misfortune to the start of the season, nothing to worry about.
There's been some crazy scorelines today in the Prem.
I've followed United since 1971, that's from a century when the majority of you lot throwing the dummy out weren't even born.
You think Currie and Woodward are the name of a song, you don't know who the zone man is and you believe Henderson is the only player we've chanted Deano to.
Chill out we'll be fine
UTB ❤
Are you honestly saying we will be ok after that dismal display give your head a shake terrible berg midfielder my arss amble amble amble get the fucking mud out your feet berg and get pushing us forward jess

Have to disagree with the comment on Berge. Honestly believe he’ll go on to bigger things

Oh I'm sure he'll be off at the end of this season.

I'm not overly impressed with him, but that aside my point is that midfield as a unit is not threatening. If any opponents see that we're lining up like that, they know they'll have all the ball and we'll be hoping to sit back and nick something.

Not impressive today, I’d agree. It may get worse before it gets better with City and Liverpool to come. 15th finish, just need confidence and Brewster

Just listened to CW reaction and he was very positive which surprised me. Also looking to bring in a player to fill JoC's absence. He is absolutely lived about the "Ghost Foul" which we will probably start calling it.

In a day when Liverpool and Man Utd get absolutely tonked makes our result not too shabby ! Plenty more games to go we just need that confidence back. Hopefully in the break they can work on it. Fulham next and nothing to be feared there. Be Positive.
Yeah but......

Well I definitely admire the optimism!

My main worry, as I outlined elsewhere, is that our game last season was based on very thin margins - winning tight matches, grinding out draws. As so many of our points were won in such close affairs, this means that any drop in standards can have a big knock-on in terms of points.

Unfortunately, I think there have been some drops, including:

- A big drop off in defence, what with Henderson going back and now JOC out for the season. Henderson and JOC out, Ramsdale and Robinson in does not make for happy reading.

- John Lundstram, who scored a lot of key goals last season, suddenly looks atrocious. I also think Fleck will regress to the mean in terms of goals scored - I doubt he'll get as many as last season.

- Our main goal threat last season, Mousset, is out for in indefinite period and looked out of sorts before that, anyway. McBurnie is not kicking on as hoped to relieve that burden.

Given that, I don't think you can take Henderson, O'Connell and Mousset out of last year's team and expect us to survive comfortably, and that's without delving into issues of form (Stevens, Lundstram, Fleck) or formation (today's midfield consisted of a sitter in Berge, a limited tried in Osborn and a limited non-trier in Lundstram. Who is that going to frighten?).

One day we might get the lucky goals that Villa have had against Liverpool, but to get that luckyness you must shoot,it might get deflected and go in off someone's arse.

Glad we're not contributing to this amateurish business!

We're the only ones taking it seriously this season, respecting the traditional scorelines that made this sport, 0-2, 0-1, 1-1, 2-1.

Maybe if we go playground style like everyone else we'll start scoring. Ramsdale got a touch in the opposition box yesterday, maybe it's a sign - goalie wag and Egan up top to do his All Ireland thunderbastards 😂

Decent point against Leeds 🤔🤣!

Why ? have not man city Liverpool and Chelsea looked vulnerable already
Liverpool's let in 3 v Leeds and 7 v villa
No game behind closed doors is predictable
.man city lost 9 last season and don't look as tight as they were

We are forced to win 4 soon
Bad luck and decisions even out everyone tells me . So we are due some stinkers

If we keep doing what we've been doing we aren't forced to win any.

I don't like criticising this bunch of players and management, however we've lost 7 games on the bounce in the league so it's clear that just hoping that this "bad luck" that we've got goes away probably won't be enough. It also means absolutely zero to us that Liverpool or Man Utd conceded 13 goals between them, just because your next door neighbours house is burning down doesn't mean that you should ignore the fire in yours does it?

As has been suggested, we need to get back to playing proper football. From what Wilder said in his interview he isn't asking the players to go out and look shit scared, pass the ball sideways and then hoof it from back to front like we have been. If that's the case then we need to stop doing it and get on the front foot. Going out of this league at a whimper and moaning about decisions is not what I want us to do, but that's what will happen.

It doesn't really matter how vulnerable any team are looking defensively at the moment though does it? If we don't attack, we still won't score no matter how vulnerable a defence are! Yesterday Arsenal faffed around playing it out from the back many times, Luiz is a liability...they look pretty vulnerable defensively too. And we still only managed to score 1 consolation goal. Incidentally from one of the only moves in 90 mins where we dared to run at their defence and creat some space for ourselves. Not a coincidence!

We’ve been appalling, we showed some promise in the leeds game, some desire to win the game but apart from that we have been out played and negative. We are relying way too much on our defence to save us this season. We cant win games 0-0.

in possession we are pony, wasteful, no composure, hitting long aimless balls that lose possession. We need to be more composed and show more value towards keeping possession with the ball. We cant score when we are chasing the opposition for the ball.

we have lost 7 games on the bounce, its very rationale to question what we are doing. ITs far more productive than burying your head in the sand and clapping along like we will be fine. If you want to play in the big boy league then your standards need to be high.

When do you start questioning the performances? When we are in the championship? When we are rock bottom at Christmas and have a mountain to climb?

we have lost the last 7 in a row and scored only 2 goals in those games, we have looked very poor in most of those games (apart from leeds) we have lost our identity in the last few months our style of play is boring/predictable/negative, we need to change and change ASAP.

Today's the first time I think we've put in a bad performance. We'll stay up. There's still 3 teams worse than us, although the table 4 GAMES IN doesn't show it.

We were good up until we took Burke off I think, he was rightfully frustrated because he was putting fear into their backline, lost an outlet after that and went a bit wrong but that's also a credit to the lad

Brewster and Burke are gonna cause some problems this year, I'm sure of it
