Tippy tappy fannying about in the final 3rd.

There was a great article in the Times yesterday indicating that shots attempted in the Premier League were at an all time low, but goals were at an all time high. Funny that

Shit goalkeepers?

Lots of it on show again today.
Could have put 5 past them if we'd had a little more urgency. They were shart!
Goal difference does make a difference!

Agree...but I saw that as smart in game management.

QPR were surprisingly poor and very underwhelming so say they are so high up the table.
However maybe it was our controlled patient possession play that prevented them from getting their game together.

Exactly mate there game is based on two banks of four countering from the edge of the box
The goal came from moving them around with a few short passes and an incisive cross ,we also got in behind a couple of times where baldock miscontrolled

Just throwing it in the box would just play into their hands

One nil to the Sheff-i-eld

Sometimes the 3 points - and once again a clean sheet is more important.

We move on - another game ticked off.

UTB

Excellent win today if somewhat unspectacular up front. Could and probably should have put a few more past them but no way I am going to whinge about another 3 points and 2nd in the table.

Thought Dowell looked very promising and can see plenty of goal scoring chances being setup by his left foot.

Defense immense.

Oh, and the piggy bastards lost 3-0 and the promotion push is back on hold...

Time for a drink me thinks.

And you thought we were that much better?

Yes. They were most dangerous from our corners.

I like a bit of TipTap stuff. Our goal came from a bit of TipTap stuff. From what I saw there were couple of times Baldock and Duffy could have crossed it but didn’t. Other than that I thought it was a very professional performance from the Blades.

All that tippy tappy shit before the goal was grating the nerves of the bloke behind me who was screaming for the ball to be hit early into a box in which no United players were present.

We was screaming at the players until the ball hit the net. Alot of our fans haven't got a clue

Edit . Beaten to it by previous 2 posts ;-)

I'm not advocating hoof. Just a little more urgency.
I'd agree. One thing I noticed today was Sharp and MyGoldDick™ getting in to positions in the box but then because the ball didn't come in quickly enough they got closed down and had no space when a ball did eventually come in. Very frustrating

Our one goal came from the players ignoring the moron fans who bellowed 3 separate occasions to cross it. The players ignored it worked it for a perfect cross and goal.

If SUFC listened to the fans we would be in league one probably trying to sign Wells over Mcgoldrick!

We seem to be proceeding on the basis that anyone who doesn’t gerritinearly is a ‘culprit’, see above. At least three Blades wholeheartedly disagree with the current obsession. Me for one; infinitely more importantly, Chris Wilder and Alan Knill.

I actually heard frothing at the mouth madmen hollering repeatedly ‘gerritin’ today, the very phrase. Once was when Mark Duffy had the ball on the right, second half. He was faced by no less than three opposition players directly in front of him and no more than a yard or two away. The prospects of him doing anything but give the ball away were negligible. That didn’t deter our Neanderthals. ‘Gerritintbox’ they roared, regardless of the near impossibility of so doing.

Shooooooooooooooooters were there too. Apparently because George Baldock has it within five yards of their box, even though his direction of travel at the time was the South Stand, he should have shot. No matter that at no time did he have an angle, momentum or line of site to shooooooot anywhere but at Rows G and H.

You cross when it’s right to do so, not as early as you possibly can. You shoot when you’ve a realistic chance of scoring. If an early cross isn’t on I trust our professional coaches and players will have the courage and sense to continue to defy the idiots. Keep possession, keep playing proper football. The rest will follow.

Oh, dem knowledgeable Blades...

On those 3 occasions when the players ignored the ‘morons’ was it absolutely guaranteed that we wouldn’t have scored if the players had crossed it into the box?

The fact is that we won’t ever score if we don’t put the ball into the box (long range strikes aside). Those screaming for us to ‘Gerritintbox’ are, ultimately, correct in their desire to see us do it more often. What I think people are trying to say is that it’s about picking the best opportunity to ‘Gerritintbox’ in order to give us the best chance of scoring. What absolutely can’t be denied is that on many occasions in just about every game we seem to hold onto the ball for too long in the wide areas before even attempting to cross it, which often means that the momentum of the move has all gone, the opposition players have all got back into place and the chances of us scoring are slim. More often than not, on these occasions the ball never actually gets into the box because we’ve held onto it for so long.

Oh and in reply to the OP, goal difference counts for nothing, ever. Pinchy told me.

I counted at least 9 occasions where Billy was in a great position to back heel it into the net but no one passed the ball correctly. Could also have flicked it up and scored an overheaderererer kick.

10 men camped outside their box.

GERRITFORRARD!

Actually, until we scored, they often had ten men inside their box. Two banks of fours + two, all inside their box. Very difficult to find space or break down.

I'm just glad we didn't go behind. Now that would have been tough. Still, with every game, teams come with various systems to try and nullify us. And usually fail.

I thought this guy wasnt going again whilst McCabe was in charge. Based on his bladesmad days, unless that was a different person
Yes that's me! And when McCabe does go I'm still mot going till the thug has gone. :)

Cross early when THE WASHING MACHINE is playing.

Cross clever the rest of the time. No point in mindlessly punting it into Billy and Dave.

I dont mind our tippy tappy but I wish that sometimes that they have ago at times & we would have a good blend of both tiki taki & risk. because it was around 65th min duffy he running at the defence in a 2 v 2 & I was hoping he would just let rip but chickened out & passed it backwards then by then qpr got 8 behind the ball & attack comes to nothing. that can be so frustrating

Oh and in reply to the OP, goal difference counts for nothing, ever. Pinchy told me.

yeah maybe pinchy should have chat with sir alex as im sure he has a different opinion ;)

One of the top scorers, one of the least conceded, second best goal difference, second in the league... And we just won a game we would have lost last season, so I have zero complaints about todays performance.

Yes I’ve just realised that we’ve got the second best defensive record in the division

I’d get the full house and stop the streaming pal. Maybe somebody at the club will listen to you and take action then. :)
