It's like groundhog day this, the system no longer works so why do we keep doing the same thing over and over again and expect a different outcome? This is not a blip it's a massive problem and we need to change something soon. Try 4-3-3, 4-1-4-1, 4-4-2, 4-2-4 anything to give an element of surprise to the opposition. We are now very predictable, everyone knows what we are going to do and they manage us out of the game.

Yeah I thought we looked worse after we switched to the 4-4-2 diamond it left a lot of space for West Ham our wide and on the counter. I have huge question marks over it or any iteration of if for us. Firstly I’m not sure we have the centre halves to play effectively in a two. Second I’m not sure we have any CDM at the club outside Berge maybe who is good enough to be effective there when left on an island without the support of an extra defender. Finally without a true CAM the same is true at the top of the pitch we don’t have a player capable of operating alone on an island. We’ve recruited players to fit a specific system and I’m not sure a lot of the squad can play outside of it.

Looking at our squad on paper it looks absolutely woeful and short in many key areas.
Aging players who were playing at 100% every game. I know now that we are trying to address this with the younger player signings.
We have no wingers and only 1 creative midfielder in O.N. Instead of addressing this we went and spent £10 million on 2 back up fullbacks.
It was mentioned at the time that the board had concerns over this deal and it may prove to be well founded
We didn't sign a LCB when we knew that JOC was carrying an injury. Why?

There is (imo) nothing wrong with the system at all. It was the system that CWAK was forced to adopt 3 years ago given the personnel we were left with at the time (pre/post-Millwall) and it has worked beautifully since.

The problem is it demands absolute commitment and discipline at all times and the ability to keep the ball in the more limited times we actually have ball possession. Unfortunately, some of our players have mentally decided that they aren't going to commit to it like they did last season in the Prem. They aren't prepared to work as hard on or off the ball (our pressing this season has been awful) and, as a result, this has had a knock-on effect of damaging the confidence of the squad, meaning that our passing and movement have gone to shit.

I do agree that a change is warranted. Not because 'other teams have sussed us out', but because CWAK need to completely reset the mentality of the squad and a complete change of approach might be the last throw of the dice.

I also think it's pretty obvious that one or two have 'gone off the boil' since signing new, improved contracts which also, hasn't helped. The system (imo) isn't to blame and it's too easy to look at that as an excuse. The players have to take some blame, as does the management at times.
