Blackwell's people skills seem to be rubbing off on some fans. Don't destroy Ched as Blackwell has done with Cotts and Billy.

I haven't heard anyone on Ched's back. In fact, he's blown in the wind for half a season, stealing a wage and offering zero, with the absolute minimum of criticism from the stands.

If you're suggesting people shouldn't verbally abuse the him or any player then I totally agree. If you're asking fans to stop discussing the "opinion" (surely fact) that he's enormously well paid and given nothing back in return, then I don't.

I suppose it depends whether he just "can't be arsed" or is generally suffering from "Blackwellitis". Still, I am 100% behind EVERY player who pulls on the red 'n' white.

Is it me or do Ched and Cresswell look similar when they are at the far end of the pitch? They run in the same manner, with their feet not coming far off the ground. If you swap one of them, either one, for Henderson it's easy to tell the difference - it's even easier when you swap one for Camara. Perhaps if one of them wore boots of a different colour, or shaved their head or dyed their hair pink it would help us tell the difference, as the shirt numbers are too hard to read at a distance. Just a thought. Lime green boots and pink hair. Hmmm.

Pretty sure Cresswell had white, and Ched red on yesterday

They certainly do look similar, my Dad said the same as you, that they had the same running style. I think like you that one of them should have a radical hair cut/dye.

It's not just you. Throughout the game I kept getting them mixed up.

I thought he was poor again yesterday but I would never sound this at a match aloud. I feel that people should voice there opinion on him on here though, I really dont see what he offers for the team...

if you thought Ched and Cresswell look similar, i kept shouting well done Morgs when it was Taylor who booted the ball. Folk around me kept giving me funny looks.

Are you sure about that?

What sure that he hardly loses the ball and his control is very good.
Whereas Cresswell yesterday lost the ball a fair few times and control isn't the best.
Yeah I'm pretty sure on those points.

Plus lets be honest if we had been given the 3 penalties that we should of done in the last two games Ched goal could of been improved.

I suppose it's what makes the game beautiful, but you can certainly see something I can't. Other than a reasonable shot, I can't name one other attribute that makes me think he'll be other than a flop. Let's hope you're right.

If you were at the game Saturday (as I'm sure you were) Ched rarely lost the ball and his first touch was good. He still is raw but when we passed it on the floor he looked a much better player. That said compared with his performance on Tuesday I could look a better player. I think Cresswell was distinctly average, giving the ball away and losing it by usually not giving it when he should and holding onto it too long.

I haven't even seen a good touch, personally, though I'll admit I've been absent for a couple of games of late due to work commitments.

I suppose it also matters how you define losing the ball. I've seen him try a few ridiculous long range shots which always infuriate me. A Gerrard-esque 30 yard shot when there's a pass on is a waste of possession, in my opinion.

Well if you haven't seen a single good touch from Ched I think our discussion on this is done because we have no middle ground to find.

As a believer in his ability I can see he hasn't hit the ground running, and I think his age and how we have tried to play him hasn't helped. I also think our Chairmans unhelpful quips to the media about the full price doesn't help the fans set realistic expectations. However when he play it on the ground he looks a better prospect I think most fans whether you rate him or not can see that.
If he is a success or failure at our club depends on how we use him, if we insist on going long early all the time he will leave and score a lot of goals elsewhere. Hmmmm Deja vu, Henderson, Sharp and Ched all had good records elsewhere before initially struggling in our team. Coincidence?

Of course, I meant the term "good touch" as a general term, rather than once specific example of a "good touch" in half a season of football... but still.

I can't see much in him really so as you say, we won't find a middle ground. I hope he comes good in the same way I hoped Sharp would.

Well Billy has, he just had to play under different management at another club to do it.

I hope we don't have to see the same with Ched.

I didn't want to turn this into another Sharp thread, but Billy is simply enjoying a run of form. Eight goals in nine games does not make a career.

Maybe however with 53 goals in 82 for Scunny and now with 9 in 15 for Rovers shows that maybe it is United that is the exception. Those 8 goals in 9 games is more than he managed in 51 matches for us.
He has a better than one in two for every club but us.
Lets see how he finishes but if he gets 15-20 goals then I think we can say he can score at Championship level.

Or maybe it shows that he's great at being a big fish in a small pond? In the lower leagues? But not very good at being asked to contribute a lesser role to a bigger team?

We'll never know!

But this thread isn't about Sharp, so I'll not comment further.

Ok what about Henderson's also struggling when he first joined us?

Coincidence, bearing in mind that upto a couple of games ago he was also struggling for goals while having nearly a one in 3 average at Watford?

What was is for us about 8 in 40 before the Cardiff match?

What about it? I said that I don't think Ched's that great, but I hope he comes good, which is similar to how I feel about Sharp. I then added that I think Sharp's a lower league player. What's any of that got to do with Henderson?

If you're implying there's some sort of tactical failure on the part of the management team, I don't necessarily disagree with that. In addition, I just don't happen think Sharp's all that great and Ched hasn't shown much that's excited me. In fact he hasn't shown me anything, apart from one decent free kick. We don't do much from set pieces, apart from giving away corners from our own corners, so goals from free kicks tend to excite me.

I do rate Henderson. He's a fantastic battler who wins balls he has no right to win, does the work of two players and consistently tees other players up. If we had midfielders bombing on, strikers who don't fall over/get caught offside all the time and strikers who make the effort to get forward, we might be top of the league.

It has to do with Henderson that 3 players who had/have good records elsewhere at this level seem to struggle when they join us.
All three seem to play better when the ball isn't launched from our full backs over the midfield but played through midfield.

My reason for raising this that Evans looked better on Saturday when we played it on the floor, Billy seems to look better with a team who like to play football (saturdays goal aside) and Henderson had a better scoring record at Watford when they played in into him on the deck.
Don't misunderstand me Evans didn't turn instantly into Shearer incarnate but he looked more comfortable and seemed to want the ball more often.

Just an observation tis all.

Did Watford EVER play football on the floor with that little no neck git in charge?

I agree the price tag wont help, but if he'd come for free I'd still be annoyed, because he's taking up a shirt. He doesn't look like value for money, at any price.

Maybe it's about our style. I agree it was with Sharp, sadly. But I argued that case (and funnily enough said how well he's do at a club like Doncaster) when he was with us. I could see some strengths to his game, backed by a decent record. Ched has neither the look of a good player, or any history (bar a short spell at Norwich) to back it up.

You say most fans can see he's got more to offer - again I disagree. Most people I discuss this with were split (all in agreement that he looks rubbish, some arguing for his prospects), but now to a man I don't speak to anyone who thinks he's got anything to offer.

I'm going to try to leave this now, as I'm coming across all Lenesque. I want any player who wears our shirt to succeed. I'm waiting to be proved wrong, and will be delighted when / if I am.
