Time to admit Scougall isn't good enough?

to answer the original post - he is good enough, but the team to get out of this division is better without him - and Baxter too.
have debated for ages now that Scoogs and Baxter give the team little consistency and scoogs record of 1 goal and 0 assists is not good enough.

Perhaps he may be better as an impact player if needed as he does offer something different, but creating chances at the moment isn't one of them.

Interesting how our team form at present is better without Scoogs and Baxter - that's because our core strength is much better. Think Coutts has a lot to do with that.

Player stats: Appearances Goals Assists

Scougall 29 / 1 / 0
Baxter 37 / 8 / 3
Ryce 31 / 7 / 4
Adams 8 / 2 / 0
Reed 26 / 0 / 3
Holt 4 / 0 / 1
Davies 16 / 4 / 3
Doyle 39 / 0 / 1

22 from midfield, not bad but not a great stat - though guessing flynn and murphy (when he isnt up front) must chip in an extra few. There any contribution from Basham or Cuvelier?

A post of mine regarding Jamie Murphy #KnowNowt

I can't find the posts, but I spent plenty of time saying Flynn wasn't good enough for this level.

In my defence, when he started (or pre-Clough basically), he just wasn't. I think we can only judge players on what we see and occasionally we'll be wrong when the manager then goes on and gets the best out of them (and that's great for the club!).

As for Scougall, I think he's just having a bad patch and he'll get better.

I think it shows we have great strength in depth to cover his dip in form, in so much as clearly Scougs isn't having the impact of last year, the lad is young don't forget and had a whirlwind of an introduction to English football, maybe it's caught up with him. A spell on the sidelines I'm sure will do him good but we have more than capable replacements, Holt/Coutts/Reed/Wallace (J) when fit (if ever fit again!)/Baxter/Cuvlier. It may turn out he ends up being an 'impact' player but surely he has a bright future ahead of him.
Clough is the man to manage this, similar to Reed, we expect so much of the young uns, especially when they have such an initial impact that when they don't hit their high standards threads like this start. In my opinion Scougs is good enough has been good enough just not at this exact moment in time.

I only included certain midfielders who I felt were vying for the midfield berths. I think Murphy is a shoe-in choice for one of the wide midfield places.

All the stats are on the Club Website under "Team".

Basham's record is complicated by his different roles. Cuvelier got one assist when he played and would achieve a lot I'm sure, if he can get fit as would Wallace (J) of course though his stats are surprisingly sparse in relation to appearances actually.

I think that we need to play Scoogs when fit, whether for part or whole matches. If he replaced Holt it would give us a bit more height in midfield

Seriously though, we will need all of the midfielders to play their part in the run-in. With such a heavy schedule of Saturday/Tuesday matches and the effort and distance they put in every game they play, we would burn out the likes of Scoogs, Holt and Reed. Reed looked tired at Nottingham. They are still young lads and need to be developed sparingly and given time to overcome injuries they pick up

Cheers for that, am shit at finding stats!

I don't know but in my opinion I think scougall has been playing a lot this season without being 100% fit which doesn't make him look good to us that are not in the know because he can't play to his full capabilities.
