Where will we finish

Gone for second but I do still feel with a bit of luck and an unbeated run to the end of the season we can catch Charlton

Interesting that only 1 out of 27 has said no to automatic promotion. Where have all Saturdays' pessimists gone :-)

Blown away by a combination of a 5-2 win away at county (where I suspect most thought we would get, at most, a point) and Wendy only drawing at home to Walsall (which I suspect most had down as a home banker)

Psycologically speaking, being in 2nd, rather than 3rd is a huge boost. Which is whay us playing our next 4 matches after Wendy may be a bad thing.

Alternatively, if they fuck up as yesterday it could be a great thing!

For what it's worth, I'm more than happy that KMac gets a full week to recover and be ready for the next match, two games in a week might have been dodgy.

That's why that last minute equaliser was so crucial. Had Walsall held on for the win, we would be going into Chesterfield match in second for sure (barring an 11-0 win). As it is now, if Wendy win we're playing catch up.

That's my worry. Bloody Madswine. I think they will win 1-0 at orient, purely to pee us off.

In a worse case scenario, we would be 1 point behind with a much superior goal difference and just about to play the bottom team at home.

I can't say I am losing any sleep about it.

For once Darren, I think I agree with you on this one. I'm actually quite optimistic about this whole promotion lark. For all that the world has supposedly ended in the past few weeks, we are still second and Charlton are not confirmed as champions.

I am not cautiously optimistic though Im pretty damn certain we will finish 2nd , as I predicted in August
we always go up in 2nd
we are 17 points clear of 7th spot now , think we can just about join charlton as shoe ins for a play off spot at least

Ah well here's my take. If Chesterfield win their final they will be buoyed up and get a point in a 2-2 draw,. If they lose, we should hammer them 1-0. I think Utd at the mo would be better playing away from home, but it is a night game so hopefully we can turn in another performance. 3-0 would be lovely!

Lets face it if we cant beat Chesterfield at home late in the season with them bottom of the league then we dont really deserve to go up

Confident as I am of going up , never take anything for granted I think we will only lose 1 maybe 2 of last 8 , but I cant say for certain which one.
Bottom beating top often happens at the oddest junctures , but the result in the Emulsion cup wont effect the result in any way, we will be fresher as we haven't played and I think well win 3-1

i'm hoping for a loss on Penalties, having played most of the game with 9 men...from a purely selfish perspective of course...

That will be our friend bazthornton.

I have gone for 2nd. It doesn't sit right with me, it's not "The Blades Way", but the return of McDonald and Collins - combined with players back in their rightful positions -fills me with that crazy thing called hope.

This season reminds me of when we had Leeds on our tail, we all fretted... but we soon put an end to that.

Second all the way.
I've been confident of that since the Hudds result/

Arguably its precisely the Blades way...

..if we go up, we go up in second, we don`t win Divisions (for 30 years anyway) and we certainly don`t win in the PO...

Went for 2nd. Looking at the fixtures and the table I think we should get the automatic spot. If we keep our first 11 fit and get a bit of luck, I don't see why we can't go undefeated. Even in the last few games we've not lost, despite playing poorly. Getting Collins and (particularly) K Mac back is a massive boost. I expect it will be pretty level by the end of the month and then the Piggies go to the McFarland(?) which will be very interesting. I think it will go down to the wire and there are likely to be twists and turns. However, I feel we're back on track and expect us to clinch it at home to Stevenage in the penultimate game.

i said at start of season in the previous poll we would gain auto promotion and ive stuck with that tho catching chorlton i think is wildly optimistic, 2nd is not only achieveable but a very good bet.
incedently anyone kow what oddswere beore season started on Blades finishing 2nd ?

MunXy

Do you mean "finishing in the automatic promotion places", or do you mean to finish second specifically. No bookmakers would have priced that up.
