Not quite the case I don't think.

Having missed out on the freebie draw (yet again) I was trying to take advantage of the "Book for Derby AND Forest and save a tenner" offer. However, this offer cannot be activated on-line. I'm afraid our on-line systems are still way short of where they should be.

On a brighter note, having sent an e-mail to the ticket office asking why I couldn't book on-line THEY RANG ME and I booked over the phone.
Crap system, good people.

I dont understand why sometimes booking by phone I get charged £1 booking fee and othertimes not?

With the tickets being frozen, it looks like they are listening.

A booking fee was originally introduced for a third party. If you are talking to the United ticket office, there should be no more cost than if you were there in person. Appart from postage. But surely that can be absorbed.

I agree but I would guess they'd defend it by saying it covers the cost of the stamp and the cost of someone putting the ticket in the envelope and writing the address on it.

Hey boo, did they tell you any other options for your son?

I got my standard renewal letter and he got one trying to temp him to buy a season ticket. Offering the consessions discount for students and at a renewal price as if he'd had one this season.
Nothing new in all that. those of you who have had the letters will notice the statement about the club changing its policy toward certain games being offered at discounts and season ticket holders did not benefit enough for their loyalty etc. All that does not do anything to temp my lad back. He wont get to enough games for it being worthwhile for him to buy a ST, and the day offers being restricted do nothing to help either.
So despite having contact with top level guys at the club and them re-assuring me they would be doing something for exiled Blades who used to be season ticket holders and are likely to be so again, they have actually done nothing which is really disapointing. they have actually made it harder for him to attend in an affordable way.

So from this we can see they are doing nothing for exiled Blades who may one day like to come back?

Just trying to guess their thought process. I suppose they wish to concentrate on season ticket sales at this time. Trouble is if they've time to find the lapsed season ticket holders then they should have time to consider why. If its an adult in their twenties then they may wish to write the standard letter. if they actually looked they would notice dates of birth that thet hold for juniors and could come to the conclusion 'Hmm maybe they are away studying', 'What could we do to keep their interst in the Blades when they come home for a weekend?'. those are the type of questions the promotions and ticket office crew etc need to be asking.

Little Boo = NRS. Don't worry Boo, we'll look after him.....

It seems others are in a similar position. Still no word on whats available for exiled Blades then or those about to be exiled for a season?

They are now away from the purse strings and able to buy their own tickets so should be encouraged to support the club at a reduced rate. My philosophy as always been 7 quid is better than an empty seat.

Agree mate. Over here several years ago they wanted to lose the image of golf being a rich man's game. Instead of offering loads of different rates for each segment of society they took the approach that most under the age of 30 are likely to have less cash than those over 30. They implemented a rate scheme for those under 18, those under 30, and the rest of us. It also had the added benefit of attracting people to the game. Perhaps it should be applied at BDTBL in some form or other. Why should a student who has little interest in the Blades get a discount over some lad on an apprenticeship?

Just spoke to Richard Batho on the phone. I have had several conversations with him and also Mick Rooker. There is going to be a membership card which will act as a game ticket for you to activate as you see fit and for the games you can get back to the Lane for. you will be able to activate it by text, email, phone, or maybe some other techi way. All the ins and outs of this will become clear as the scheme is rolled out. The prom name for this campaign will be something like 'True Blades belong at the Lane'. He was also pointing out that he did not want people to take the wording of the campaign the wrong way.
Moral of the story, if you have a problem contact the club, they want the feedback.

I hope they listen to the feedback that the 'true blades' campaign is bloody insulting to plenty of true blades !

It would appear not, this vein of comment will run and run, longer than the actual campaign

I understand your concern about this statement. I think what they are trying to do is make it easier for those who live away or can only get a certain times, acknowledging that its not always possible for people to commit to regular visits to see there team.

Talk of a membership card is encouraging.
Let's see how they manage to make a complete balls-up of a good idea and make it difficult for fans to get one.
For me, all season ticket holders from the last two or three years who haven't renewed should be automatically be posted one out with a letter advising them how to activate it online.

Dear SUFC

Our current squad of players is fucking crap, has been for a while now so please do something about it.

HH

There you go, simples

As regards marketing a membership card, it should simply be your Blades Card.
Don't mention True Blades, don't insult or antagonise people, keep it simple.
It's your Blades Card, you keep it like a credit card, it's handy and worth having.
It's a relatively simple idea that sells itself.
