I think it is safe to say they will not be signing new contracts......................... so frustrating when we have to pay the likes of Monty 2 or 3 times more than what they would be happy with. I think we will start the season with what is left at the club (which will not be much if offers come in for Lowton and McGuire) plus the young kids ............................. the club is absolutely broke.

As sad as it is, we're watching our marvelous club drop into decline, no hope of signing any decent players, no hope of offloading the shit. Last season was a freak, we had a goalscorer who could win us games whether we were good bad or indifferent. This time out we won't have that luxury. It's a sobering thought when you think about it. Ched was still injured for the start of lasr season and was poor for the first 5-6 games of his return - then he hit the golden patch. Realistically from the start of this run there was no telling if Ched was going to return with the form he had shown in the previous two seasons (utterly dire) or if he would make a telling contribution. If Ched had not fired on all cylinders as he did we would have been only play off contenders at best. I cannot imagine that we would have brought in anybody else up front other than a Hoskins style player. The only reason Hoskins didn't feature more prominently was down to the form Ched was in. If Hoskins had played more last year, whose to say his hernia wouldn't have flared up sooner - we might have lost his servies earlier.

Wonder what plan D would have been if Ched had turned out his previous stuff? Not even sure we would have made the play offs as 30 plus goals is a hell of a lot to replace if only from one player.

When did this rebuilding start, how long will it take, why is this season more key than last season, or the one before, or the one before that? Seems to me we're constantly rebuilding yet we never seem to get as far as laying firm foundations. The academy would have been a good start, maybe next season we'll see just how good it is.

You half answered your own questions. We gort where we were because of Cheds goals. The defence was hardly water tight, the midfield not great but when you have a striker who was scoring as freely as he was then you always have that bit extra. When we lost him we saw just how average we were/are. We wouldn't have brought in a decent striker, we would have brought in some has been, a bit like Cresswell because we aren't ambitious enough to really go for it.

No I don't, I don't think we have goals in us, I don't think we'll have a good enough midfield and I'm unsure of who'll be in goal. I think there'll be at least 6 teams better than us, mostly because they'll be better organised and with players who can operate well at this level. Warnock decided to buy Shelton and Fathi for approx £3million plus wages...it is not McCabe's fault that he didn't buy a back up striker to Hulse. And don't forget the £3million + wages on Akinbyi and Horsefield that was totally wasted.

Signings are NOT down to McCabe and his money. He is not allowed to simply put his hands in his pockets get the wedge out and sign players. The club generates X amount of income and can spent 65% of that income on players salaries. Last season that figure was nearer 110% of income. Chairman top-ups are no longer allowed. Serious reductions are needed, high earners need to go, but go where? All clubs at this level are in the same boat, so none of them can afford those salaries. Good enough to go up a level? One or two possibly, but they would still need to take a pay cut.

Decisions made in the last 5 years are now coming home to roost. Poor choices have consequences and here they are. Fact is we will probably sign 1 or 2 and the squad will be supplemented with Tonne, Chappell, Whitehouse, Philliskirk etc.

Now if you want to have a moan about missed opportunities to increase club income knowing this was coming, fire away!

Whilst I agree about KM mis managing the club,from what I understand he is not taking interest out of the club. However,I am sure the accountants amongst me will tell me otherwise if I am wrong

3% over base rate isn't 3% more than the banks charge, I doubt any business can borrow at base rate with no margin. 3% over is a reasonable commercial rate.

If McCabe paid off the bank debt then eventually is repaid by the club (at the moment it seems highly unlikely he will receive all his money back unless we get sustained PL status) then I don't see how he is better off, surely that is the same as he was before - he had money, he loaned it to the club and he got it back?
