Remind me of the kind of reaction to when we first signed the likes of Neill Shipperly, Jon Stead and even Wayne Allison.

Seems clear (imo) he's being brought in as an impact player, to help cause more chaos in the opposition box in the last 15 minutes when teams are sitting back.

Much bigger physical presence than Clarke and should hopefully make the ball stick better up front.

Think Lavery will still be the first choice partner for Sharp. Sort the defence out (wright and lafferty back in), get Carruthers fit and we should still be top two.

Fuming at full time today mind

I hope that's the way it goes mate.

I just have this horrible vision of us lining up against Bolton with one point in it in the table and Hanson starting and us trying to out thug ball A Parkinson team.

Unless we're paying him a fortune, why would Hanson leave Bradford to sit on our bench?

I hope he comes in and smashes the league up, but personally, I've never seen him put in a half decent performance.

I hope he proves me wrong though!

Don't really see why Hanson would come here just to be an impact player off the bench? (Especially if reports are to be believed that he's Bradford's highest paid player.)

Fear a change of style, missing out the midfield just like how the season started out - and one that doesn't work, given that Billy doesn't really do flick ons. It's not broken & it doesn't need fixing IMO.

But, if he does come, hope I'll be proved wrong & that he'll be a key part of the promotion push. Playing (off the bench) for a stylish, footballing football team.

At least he won't be able to fuck us in the play offs....

Oh hang on, Clarke can do that instead!

To be fair the amount of corners we have each week and do absolutely fuck all with, he might manage to get on the end of a couple of them

He might help us defend them as well.

I don't think Bradford will make the play offs TBH.

Milwall might though... they are thr dangerous mid table lurker most likely to deny someone a deserved promotion.

What worries me is the forward thinking, this guy is hardly proven at L1 level, if we are going up and making a statement then why are we taking L1 baggage with us?

We're looking at adding players who have value in the transfer market.

So we've bidded for 29 year old James Hanson who has 91 goals in 330 games. VALUE.

1 goal every 3 games for someone who also gives you a physical presence in the box isn't half bad tbh. Get plenty of delicate and technically gifted footballers in this team, need a bit of brute force in the mix as well for certain games.

The 'in Wilder we trust' sentiment quickly got forgotten didnt it?! Blimey, we had a bad day at the office last week after 6 straight wins, and we have a frustrating afternoon today but still easily outplayed stubborn opposition who had the usual performance of the season keeper playing for em (but still get a valuable point).

All of a sudden we are decrying a potential signing which the manager (who has not made too bad a fist of it so far...) has identified. If CW wants him then im in. For a while ive thought Utd could do with a big lad who can win things in the air up front. Not necessarily to start but to have a plan B against opposition who are being stubborn.

For me, id take Hanson. Would be a reasonable signing and a potential handfull for the opposition. If CW wants him then i hope we get him.

Still need a lad at the bacl though...Webster??

Wilder thought Hussey and Clarke would be good signings, he ain't perfect in the transfer market (even the greats made crap signings!!!).

If I think a player isn't good enough and not what we need, I'm going to give my opinion, not just sit here and have blind faith in Wilder even if he is doing a great job right now.

There's been a recent pattern in home matches where teams pack their defence.
We also have loads of corners, loads of crosses and loads of goal mouth scrambles.

Wilder is thinking a Wayne Allison "big lump" type would reak havoc and be effective
And I agree it's an option that would help us.
As long as we don't pay too much he'd be a good buy.

I am not sure about him either but reading this thread he's already on a hiding to nothing before he signs.

He better hit the ground running otherwise it's going to be brutal for him, he is clearly going to be given no bedding in time.

If I was him and someone pointed me in the direction of this forum I would already be thinking "do I really need this?"

To be fair, I don't want him but I will support any player that pulls on a shirt.

And thats fair enough. You have an opinion and you could very well be correct. Im inclined to give CW the benefit of the doubt though.

Same here. I can see some qualities though, that despite my misgivings, make me think he could be worth a few points. That could be vital. I believe we're still after a goalscorer as well, so might be an interesting week or two ahead...

I don't like this. I had a pal called Animal Hanson that pissed in every bed he slept in.

Posted this on another thread but worth repeating.

Brace yourselves.....
