and cheering his substitution, please fuck off.

We can all see the lad isn't the same player and no-one more than himself knows he won't be able to meet the potential he had pre-injuries.

At least plenty of grown ups in the South Stand showed him some respect.

Totally agree that it’s never right to boo one of our own players. To be fair, he should never have been put in that position though… the fact he started for us today underlines how badly wrong our recruitment has been so far … and I can certainly understand people’s frustration coming out…. I actually feared he’d get worse than he did… the booing was quite muted as were the team 😕

he helped out coz were short its owners fault hes a good guy servant and thats the thanks RND booing him a disgrace hes not the same player coz of injurys them who booed him shame on you all its not his fault we lost its a team game ffs get a grip,,boo boys disgrace

Least we south stand clapped him back.

He shouldn't have been on the pitch.
He shouldn't have been given that mind boggling contract.
It's not his fault, there's absolutely no reason to boo him.
The fact that we've ended up with a completely shot left back, playing centre half in the season opener isn't his fault.

Should not be at the club, should not be in the squad, should not be getting blamed.

Arrrrrrrr. Poor lad. He's signed a fucking multi year deal when we all knew he was nowhere near fit or good enough, but yes. let's not "blame him"! Poor little thing.

He's absolutely done and has been for a while now. But he's still taking great money from the club for being crap, week in, week out. Bollocks to all this "oh, we shouldn't criticise him" shit. We aren't a charity and he's a professional footballer.

I'm not saying 'make him a scapegoat' but let's not make excuses for him or anyone else either. if it's not good enough, it's not good enough!

Today was a terrible start. Fucking abysmal! Let's call it for what it was. Shit!

Move on and expect better. Much better.

Didn’t boo him & I’ve never have any Blades player in my 48yrs attending … that a side he shouldn’t be anywhere near the starting 11 .. he’s nowhere near the player he once was since the 2 bad injuries & sentiment aside he shouldn’t have had a new contract … there’s been a complete lack of proactivity in terms of bringing in a new centre back , more so with Anel running down his contract or departing ..we looked powder puff today⚔️

I've never boo-d a Blades player. If our owners want us to have a chance of going up they need to sign quality permanent players to replace the ones who have left. The Godfrey idea is worrying. Will he be any better than RND?
I booed Paul Devlin when he wanted to leave for Birmingham he didn’t move for a ball 5 yards away when opposition player was double that. Devlin was substituted 10 mins later and gave us the rods on the South Stand. RND hasn’t done what Devlin did and should never be booed.

This is one of the joys of changing managers. Sometimes they might waste a lot of time simply finding out obvious things - such as players just not being good enough. I wonder if he knows how RND has fared in his last few competitive games rather than just friendlies?

Without being all Delia Smith, I feel fans should be another team mate, should be supporting and encouraging, not them and us. Also whilst circumstances may cause people to leave early the empty ground is akin to players giving up to me, we should be a team mate putting effort in to the end. It's a difference between being part of a club or watching a show, and we pay to be part of it rather than an audience member, or at least thats what footy used to be for me. Seems there is a mentality change and ego change of you are here to play for me, not we are here to support our team, thus people leave or boo the entertainment.

I was in BLUt and heard no booing so suspect it was isolated.

That said its 2025 and in the day and age of "be kind" and "it's the taking part that counts" we should have all been giving him a standing ovation.

Apologies to all that were offended I didnt.

'Dem Blades' booing a kid who's struggling, had serious injuries, knows the fans aren't behind him but still pulls a shirt on and goes out there, would do well to recall the morning we all heard about Gary Speed.

'Dem Blades', bigger Blades, happy to fill Blades players in from a keyboard Blades.

P*ss off.

Look at the bigger picture and where the issues really were/ still are.

Delia would have created something nice with the half time oranges to cheer him up too.

Wilder gave him a 3 year contract so he wernt going to turn that down.So as you say he's not to blame .Don't get why Wilder gave him a 3 year contract before he proved fitness after coming back from that year or so out with dire hamstrings surgery.
I think he's good lad ! That was no reason to give him 3 years.

There were some rumblings on the kop around me. Not good, particularly on day one for a player who has served the club well. It's not like he's a sulky, workshy Lundstrum.

That said my previous comments on other threads about players peaking and prone to injury apply here. Selles style of play requires young fit players and the likes of Davies and Shackleton would exasperate Jesus.

Past injuries have finished RND at this level, not his fault the boooing should be reserved for successive owners and management who have failed to address the glaring weakness at CB over the last three or more seasons or when Jack O'Connel was injured. This is what you get when you let good players go before you have a replacement in the club.
Just imagine if we can't manage to bring in a couple of centre backs we could be looking at a Sheffield relegation double.

Well said but this will resonate with less and less people I suspect. It may be that it’s just the less mature, the less intellectual or the more easily led that breed and thrive on negativity. The club has asked for patience during this transition and it’s clear those who I have described here don’t understand or accept what that means. Give the players chance to adopt new playing systems, the manager to implement them and the board to get the players in that we need. The lad sat behind me in the John St stand gave them 60 minutes. Chris Wilder was a legend, let’s all agree on that. He’s gone now, move on. Get behind the team or stay at home and don’t infect others of your ilk.

Like others have said, RND should have been nowhere near the first 11. We didn’t have a lot of options but he’s clearly not at this standard and hasn’t been for a some time (if ever IMO). That for me is on the manager and the owners.

RND was poor yesterday and, whilst others should have done better too, he stood out as a weak link.

That performance and the reaction from the crowd will likely affect him, so I’m interested to see how Selles manages the situation now.

Does he play him in cup (if you fall off a bike kind of approach) or protect him by training with the squad but not playing him or does he ship him out?

Personally, I think he’d benefit from a fresh start somewhere else but given our lack of defensive options, can we afford to get rid yet? Also, if the rumours of JLT and Wrexham are true, we might not want to cup tie JLT.

Not sure of the point I’m making anymore, just sharing my pre-first brew thoughts.

People said his injuries were a JOC situation and that’s the reason behind the 3 year deal.

Many years ago I booed Colin Hill and told him to piss off back to Colchester if he was going to play like that. (Yes, Colin Hill, the international footballer!) He heard it and actually winced and I felt like shit. I still do.
My dad told me to grow up and asked if I’d start booing and criticising my dog when he was reaching the end and close to being taken to the vets for the last time. If they do their best, however crap, then that’s all that can be asked.

Don't know where you sit, we were all singing at 2-1 down, convinced we'd beat them 3-2...

If I want to leave at 4-1 down I will, we weren't playing Real Madrid were we?

Seles can go now for me, incredible mistake hiring somebody whos got no idea, all my positivity completely gone in one game.

Edit: and i'm supposed to be driving to Swansea next week.. ffs
