Where does everyone think we’ll finish this season?

For me I expect to finish in a similar position to last year with the current squad. A push for play offs if we sign 2 strikers and an attacking mid.

Expect Norrington Davies make a name for himself at left wing back too.

As things stand we could finish anywhere mid table, or maybe 6th with a good wind.

Add another Champ level striker and a pacy winger/AM to the mix and we are solid play off contenders.

I see us better than most teams in the league but not as good as several; on a par with Bristol City, Preston and Brentford, and better than the grunters. All things considered not too bad for our second year back up

Honestly not a clue. I think it'll be much the same as last season, on our day we're as dangerous as anyone but we're in flux form wise.

We played teams that finished in the top 6 last season and made them look poor, but then we couldn't break down the shit teams like Notlob and Norwich.

It depends on getting a spark from somewhere, doesn't have to cost the world and we might already have it but something has to catalyse us a bit for us to have a chance of the playoffs. I think we'll be safe from relegation barring catastrophic board/ management issues.

Our main problem this season is last season in a way. We sort of need to hit the ground running to avoid a shitty atmosphere descending on the season.

I don't think anyone will run away with it this year personally though I know a lot of people think the relegated teams are going straight back up.

I know I'm excited though. Cannae wait.

With our current squad, top 12. Get a couple of quality additions in (optimistic) then we’ll possibly push for the top 6.

11 Yhihf

Does anyone produce a spend to position table, seem to recall one on here at some point last season. Theoretically we should end up 5/6 from bottom.

Relegation battle....you heard it here first!:(

Expecting mid table, with a striker and a flair player such as the lad from Liverpool. I feel top six. Ulloa and waghorn. Nailed on top six. Expect like the OP for ND to make a name. Gone this time next season. ;)

Mid table for me. Yes we have strengthened but teams around us have also. Forrest spending silly money, Leeds look like getting Vydra. Villa have lost no one the teams coming down are just as strong if not stronger.

For me to just be around mid table and then we just have to slowly build in the exact way we are doing now.

The process for promotion should be a 2-3 year plan.

Get a poll up yer lazy get! :)

Top half at the moment. Another striker and an attacking midfielder and think we’ll be top 8.

After being really wrong for 90% of the season. Last yr of 14th - 21st. Been thinking i think 5th - 10th realistically as i cant see much difference to last season. But there is room for surprises because we can't forget then end of the season & sheer amount of dropped points i think from brentford onwards we took the lead in 8 of last 9 games but only went on to win 1 of them

Based on what I've seen so far in terms of recruitment, I think we are looking at a lower finish than last season. I think somewhere around 14th. The ageing strike force and lack of pace and creativity in the team are the reason I say this.

If we bring in one or two younger strikers, plus an exciting young midfield player with some pace, then I'd change this opinion and expect a 8th place finish or possibly just sneaking into the play-offs at a push.

Reckon we’re 2 quality players away from the top 6. Hopefully we’ll get them before the weekend.

On our day we’re better than anyone in the league, however doing consistently for 46 games is tough

Here’s one.

Egan starts the season makes a few errors and the fan base splits into Egan v Stearman camps but come November he is back in the line up and finishes the season as the Leagues top CB

I think it all depends on the last couple of signings. If we can add 2 quality first team pieces and coutts comes back the same player he was I can see a push for the play offs again. Hopefully Egan at the back and a quality striker might be enough to make us that 5% better and take us to the play offs this year .

That said if we fail to get anyone over the line and have a slow start I think currently we would finish 11-16.

Lower than last season as we have no momentum or pashun. Or Coutts.

My biggest worry is that a lot of last seasons early form was momentum from the League One title. Our form in the second half of the season was poor and if we start in similar fashion we could be in trouble. Need some decent signings to put some spark back into the team but can’t see where they are coming from at the minute.

There's currently no real reason for optimism unfortunately and somewhere between 10th - 14th seems on the cards.

If Wilder really does only want 2 more signings then they'll have to be bloody good players if we want to push towards the top 6.

Last season was an odd one for us, for a couple of reasons. First off, the position we finally finished in was very unflattering. We finished in 10th, but it was really tight right up to the end. We were only mathematically out of the top 6 race with a couple of games to go, and if we had merely 4 more points (as in, we turned 2 draws into wins) we'd have been 7th and 2 points off the play-offs. So actually we probably did better than our 10th place finish suggests. Either way, a newly promoted side gaining a top half finish after 6 seasons in the division below is a great result. I agree with sentiments further up the thread about the momentum from the title win, of course that helped us in the first half of the season. But even though we dropped off after November, we shouldn't see that as a failure. With some very thin margins moved slightly, we'd have gained a few places. C'est la vie.

Another thing to consider is the quality at the top of the table was unreal - Wolves, Cardiff and Fulham all pissed the league and played Premier League quality throughout the season. We had absolutely no chance of matching that, neither did a lot of the other "established" Championship sides. It'll be very different this year, the quality of the clubs coming down from the Premier League is poor and I think they'll all struggle. I'd fancy a big team like Middlesbrough or Derby to win it,(Villa if they can sort their ownership/financial quagmire out) or even a more leftfield choice like Bristol City, Preston or Brentford over the relegated sides. In any case, it'll be a much more competitive league, you'll probably only need around 85-90 points to win it, and top 6 should be acheiveable with 75 points. We got 69 (Oi Oi!) last season, so it's not much of a stretch for us to make it.

Our signings have been fairly good so far, but they aren't title-winning quality. I think we're off the pace for top 2 this season and also probably top 6. I'd expect a slight improvement, probably 8th or 9th. Use this season as a foothold to move up and challenge for top 6 next season. In Tufty we trust.

Depends what formation we pick to start the season, who else we get through the door in the window and whether the Holy Trinity will ever be resurrected again.

Pre season games have been confusing in terms of managers intentions for starting line up. Last night we were all over the place at times with players out of position.

If we start against Swansea on the front foot playing a number 10 in a 3-1-4-2 then that will kick start the season. If we play with a midfield 3 we will see a lot of the ball but create little as we have no pace.

Egan in the middle will cut out silly errors but if we don't move the ball forward quickly then a lot of games will fall into chess match mode as they did towards the end of last season.

We are 2/3 quality players short of making an impact in the division. Waghorn, Maddison, Gallagher, Woodburn type of players would give us an outside chance of play offs. Woods and Luke Freeman type players would make us a definite top 6 and automatic contender. Nugent types would ensure mid table mediocrity.

Egan starts the season makes a few errors and the fan base splits into Egan v Stearman camps but come November he is back in the line up and finishes the season as the Leagues top CB

That won’t happen because, despite the think-tank postulation on here, they’ll both be in the team.

If we carry on the form of the last game of the season, down at Bristol, we should finish no worse off than 10th place. Having Freeman back should add goals (he scored a great one at Ashton Gate), we still have Coutts to come back, although after such a bad injury, he may not be the same player (hope I am wrong of course).

Leon and Bill can score at this level, so can Goldie. JOC, Egan, Stears and Bash are all fairly solid. Bash put some of the Inter players to shame mid-week, and whoever thought we would be saying that?

Although I am always ambitious in life, in general, I would be happy with anything higher than last years position, show some improvement on where we were.

I have no doubt that CW and AK want top six, and will be revving the players up, ready to go for it.
