Realistic and negative aren't the same thing.
Finishing 2nd is the least likely of the two. I think the point being made by the OP is comments like '''we've fucked the season up' 'Leeds will win last four, we won't' . They are negative comments and there were much worse ones.
Being positive isn't living in cuckoo land. Most successful people and organisations have naturally positive outlooks.
It's fair enough saying it's unlikely we'll finish second, it's what follows that, or surrounds it that is important.

of course people have the entitlemant to slag off players and the club, and drag up previous let downs , and boy do they enjoy doing it

It should come with the proviso if we do get 2nd place we can call them negative twats all summer long and re post ad infinitum their lack of faith posts to show them up for what they are

When something goes wrong or is bad, you have plenty of time to have the negative feelings and emotions associated with it afterwards. It amazes me how many people deliberately add to the length of time they have those negative feelings and emotions by having them before it's even happened. To a degree, I think it's the easy option, being optimistic takes more courage than being pesimistic, but the line between being optimistic and arrogant is quite fine (as is the line between being pesimistic and being realistic).

the logic doesnt count
lleeds fans believe 120 per cent they will go up even if we go 2nd and they lose v wigan

we of course come at it from an unusual perspective , we have "supporters" who constantly see the worst outcome
and delight in posting within seconds of any drawn game or missed chance how bad we are

We have a different breed of fans who wait for disappointment to get some sort of glow from it

its why we stand out from the rest

if we beat forest and leeds lose a section of our support will tell us how Hull will beat us , for certain

A blade based in Aberdeen. Were you born and raised there or did you move there? Why United?
 



I'd like to know if any of the posters who moan when fans are critical of the team jump up and burst into song or cheer and clap when Norwood or Fleck pass the ball to an opponent ? Of course they don't just the same as the so called negative poster will not go to the lane and not get right behind the team. I think at times the uber positive Blades can't accept the reasons why we at times play poorly and have to have something to blame the easiest target of course is the fans who openly are critical of a poor performance. The team has to give the crowd something to cheer, On Saturday they gave hardly anything 1st half an the noise levels dropped. 2nd half they got at Millwall and the noise levels were as good as they have ever been, did all the noise convince the players to retreat ten yards and start passing sideways and backwards ? Come you positive Blades you can't have it both ways.
 
No room for owt but positivity, and...being UNITED moving forward over the next few weeks.

Get it right and our atmosphere can be the difference that bring the lads on and catches Leeds.

Well said, we've renewed our season tickets and whether it's PL or Championship, we'll be there. If it's the latter, which according to many it will, so be it. That's life, over the course of the season we fell short and the aim will be to improve and go again in August, like with all clubs. What I dread most is our fans' reaction if we have a poor start and/or the pigs continue where we left off this season. My advice is to make the most of the next few weeks, even if it is the play offs, life is too short and we've had far worse seasons than this one during my lifetime.

It depends what we mean by negativity.
We were poor on Saturday and could have done a lot better. Coming on here and talking about that is fine, and part of what this place is for.
My gripe is more about people who were coming on saying we've chucked the season, it's all over, Leeds will walk it, we'll bottle playoffs in the semis etc etc.
Massive difference in those two things. One is fair criticism, wanting the team to do what it is capable of, the other is ridiculous negativity.

Spot on, worry about the worst case scenario when we get there. We all know what that could mean in terms of ownership, management and player sales - we've been there before. So if we know that, why worry about it?

Let's focus on having a banging next few weeks, making Leeds panic and watching this belter of a squad.

Yeah, let's just ignore that little detail from the whole scenario. I mean, if we DO actually win our last four and Leeds fuck it up, or we confound the run of history of Sheffield United in the Playoff Competition, the court case between McCabe and HRH will simply resolve itself and there will be the requisite amount of proper investment to equip us in the Premier League, because people like you say so.

Here's some sand, and here's a hole just big enough for your melon.

theres a victim mentality at play there
like we are the only club to have suffered defeats in big games

is us losing out in a play off any worse say than Liverpool spending 3 billion in the last 30 years trying to regain a title
they have a larger selection of bridesmaids dresses than we have
or 2 time european cup winners forest wallowing in this division ad infinitum
or coventry, portsmouth and an endless list of others

our only ever setback is never having a really big investor in an industry thats built on investment

our highlights in my lifetime have been just staying in the top division for a few years

so if we are on the verge of a promotion Im going to get giddy, as it doesnt come along overly often
