I think Wilder has shares in Chiropractors in Sheffield. Only thing you hear at the Lane lately is cricked necks.
 
At least we can use the snow on every ball descending from the heavens to combat climate change
 



We don’t play hoof.

Look at the first goal, the second goal, the runs RND was making when he came on.

I’m more concerned by the basic lack of ball control of pro footballers to be honest.

No manager sets their team up to misplace passes repeatedly and fall to perform basic ball control. That was my most frustrating observation today.

To he fair he probably isn't telling them to that - but that's because he isn't telling them to do anything.

When there is absolutely no system or tactics then defenders are going to do what they are paid to do ie. Stop goals going in. If they whack the ball up the other end of the pitch they can't concede, and what the strikers do with it isn't their problem.

My sons play in U9 and U7s. Even at this age you can see the teams that are coached well and the ones that aren't coached well or even coached at all. The similarities when watching Wilder's Sheff Utd teams are actually embarrassing, it's so amateur. He's simply plonking a bunch of seasoned pros out on to the pitch and leaving them to their own devices in the hope they'll do something.
 
I thought our line up was a bit too attacking today. 4-4-2 - two strikers and two so lightweight wide men as Donovan and O'Hare meant that Rothwell and Peck struggled to cover enough space. Our high pressure failed and there were numerous occasions where one or two of the forwards tried to press, but ended up waving their hands when teammates didn't join in.

I'm not surprised that defence doesn't try very hard to beat the opposition's high press. Tanganga and McGuinness are mediocre on the ball and we had Baptiste out of position at right back. It's not quite their natural game to advance on the ball, show for the ball as an attacking strategy. They end up with the ball a lot as we play it backwards, and then they look for a low risk option. If the opposition mark or are determined to press our central midfielders, our defenders go long instead. I don't think Wilder is telling them to go long, but it's just a consequence of the team's setup and an unwillingness to take risks.

We've got a lot of experience in the squad. Almost every one of the 16 who were on the pitch today have played in the Premier League. The substitutions we did were made to cope with the opposition's high energy. Not to match their energy, but to add more players who are experienced enough to cope individually with some difficult match situations. It had an effect and we got the draw in the end. But there isn't a lot of unrealised potential in the subs we threw on and I'm not sure this is a good long term strategy.

With the injuries to Seriki and One, there isn't much pace and power and we're desperate for that to be addressed before the transfer window closes.
 
The hoof isn’t planned, it’s because we’re physically outmatched and the players are panicking. Anyone with eyes can see that O’Hare isn’t a winger and Peck and Rothwell in central midfield is asking for trouble as they are so immobile it’s painful.

Still, Hamza Choudhury will fix it all so I guess it’ll be fine.

Why has Wilder completely deserted his own principles?. The reason Chris had so much credit in the bank with this club, is that he initially elevated us from the dour bunch of long-ball triers tag that we’d struggled to shake off for years. Unfortunately he seems be returning back to where he found us in 2016.
 
It’s definitely been coached into them and if it’s not, it’s been allowed to happen for such a long time that’s its second nature. As fans I’m almost certain these are the patterns of play we all expect:

1. A full back gets the ball, one of the strikers/wide players will try to run in behind, whilst said full back plays a long hoof up the line. It’s either too long/short, headed out of play or headed into traffic were we inevitably lose the ball.

2. The keeper kicks the ball straight down the middle of the pitch, either from a goal kick or because a player under pressure has no were else to go, this ball is then either headed on by our striker to no one running in behind, or headed back to the opposition.

We go long far too often, and look isolated/ shit scared when the opposition presses us. I just want us to try a play our way out of trouble rather than thundercunt it up the field.

I know we have very different players, but I remember watching us against Manchester Utd at the lane and we outplayed them at times, so much so, Graham Souness compared us to Barcelona. Where’s that tactical approach gone? We might outfight teams, but I’m not sure we outrun or outplay anymore

If they aren’t listening then surely its on the manager?

His job is to spend all week drilling it into them - if they do their own thing that’s worrying

Is the reason these lads ‘want to play for the manager’ because they know he’ll do fuck all

Imagine Pep giving instructions and players don’t follow, benched or gone
