But all we need to do is to “think outside the box”, like them?Weren’t Bournemouth supposed to be “the model” until they went to shit?
Also who are we supposed to get mad at if a billionaire doesn’t want to buy the club?
For every Leicester there are 10 other club takeovers that haven’t gone well. The fans of most of the Prem and all the Championship clubs will be sat at home feeling envious. That’s football.
Up until this season other clubs will have been calling us “the model”.
There is no “model”. You need a decent manager who is either very shrewd in the transfer market, a wheelbarrow full of cash or a mix of the two. Same as it ever
ThisSo you’ve not then. Ah well you might be right, we need to look at how they did it.
Can you look into how we go into Administration to write off all our debts without any punishment and have a brand new stadium built with around 50% additional capacity (about 47,500 would be compatible for us)?
At which point we can look for a new billionaire owner to pick us up cheap. That would seem to be the start.
Yes but we’ve seen those same foundations our whole system was built on fail so terribly, before our very eyes. When ever a team does well...it’s always “think xxxxx”
It wasn’t only last year many were saying “think Sheff Utd” and “why don’t we follow their model”.
Even our own fans were saying Wilder is the Messiah...we should use the same system at all age groups, lay the foundations and plan for the future“
We’ve laid some foundations to build on....
but most fans are saying “rip up the foundations built by Wilder and start afresh”.
It just shows how fickle most football fans are...when theres success the model is brilliant.
One year of struggle and all of a sudden the same model is terrible ann needs ripping up.
Which tells us that the things that really bring about success are not about the top level, easily identifiable things that clubs are doing.Yes but we’ve seen those same foundations our whole system was built on fail so terribly, before our very eyes.

I thought it was just me that realised we made it to the Premier League by luck. There isn't any foundations though, that's the problem. Every so often (every 15 years or so) we have a team that plays well together, usually driven by a "fan" manager that understands the shyte that he'll be given to work with, and for a time accepts it.
The said "fan" then sets about bringing players in who are delighted to be here because they're not all that good really, but they work their bollocks off for a while and we do ok for a bit.
Then it all comes crumbling down because the players can't keep it up, and because there are no foundations in place, the young players aren't deemed good enough and our scouting in Europe or further afield is non existent.
We never achieve major player sales because, well, we never have anybody that good, and every time we try spend more than fourpence ha'penny on a player, it is always on someone who somehow never manages to fit in.
I'm expecting Billy Sharp to give us our next period of "success" in another 15 years after he's learned the managerial ropes at Cheltenham, Cambridge and Bury
The difference pre and post lockdown was huge. We were a team with all the momentum, overflowing with confidence and fearless. As soon as the momentum stopped, gradually everything else did. One player at a time.I thought it was just me that realised we made it to the Premier League by luck.
We got out of division one with a good bit of wheeling and dealing and a manager who got the players already there to finally step up and show their A game :fantastic season. First season In the Championship we consolidated with a bit of the same model and a bit of tinkering without spunken money,a philosophy to keep us there nothing more.
People and pundits plus Wendy fans hoped it was a fluke and the old second season syndrome would kick in but Wilder kept the Blades machine rolling :again without spunken to much cash . Everything that season went right, loan signings worked, very few injuries and the “ we’re all in this together” his philosophy peaked, every turn of the cards turned a trump we got lucky, again what a season,we made the promised land and players and fans we jubilant .
For me this is where it started to go a tad off the rails, could Wilder wheel and deal and adapt to something he,the players, fans and the board had never been, I think we have the answer?. Nothing changed in a huge way a few uninspired signings (Sander Berge)a couple of loans but the Wilder secret of “ over lapping centre half’s” and hard work showed promise a bit of surprise to the big boys of the Premiership but for me a few of the squad where showing their age and unfortunately lack of skill but the Wilder tactics pulled us through to our greatest season, and in a flash the season was behind us without Wilders greatest assets in attendance US the fans.
Start of this season was very poor for whatever reason, not too much happening on the signings front especially given the current squad was looking aged and lacking quality, everything seemed to be focused on one signing :a young lad from Liverpool and little else apart from again a few aging loan signings. To me it looked and smelled of someone’s luck running out. Don’t want to recap this season too disappointing, so UTB. Looking forward to big changes? .![]()
Sorry, but for me that’s where Chris Wilder went wrong, keeping his tried a trusted players for far too long. We still have too many from 4/5 years ago and some from the old division one days. We need them to be replaced and stop looking through rose tinted glasses. We seem to have some up and coming youth players we can slowly integrate into the squad. The difference pre and post lockdown was huge. Having a billionaire owner definitely helps but they do seem to be a very well run club with an exceptional scouting network. Consistently get their recruitment right and probably turn in a transfer surplus overall when you consider the sales they have made over the past 5 years or so.

I think he's forgotten to "clear the rocks from the runway" first.Which tells us that the things that really bring about success are not about the top level, easily identifiable things that clubs are doing.
Yet still more shallow than that, people come out with shite like “start thinking outside the box”!![]()

We could be on the brink of something special again? or on the slide back to the old days. We are in the hands of the board ,it’s time for them to shine, or not. Let’s hope they’re willing to learn from the last couple of seasons and have a proper professional plan in place.
I agree with everything you wrote until your last sentence, clean the decks is the way for me. Let’s just hope what happens in the next months is going to be inspiring and exciting for us all. Let’s have our own model and not copy someone else’s, forget Leicester or Brentford let’s have a Blades model for once. UTB.
