No matter where I go, when I say I support Sheffield United people know I never chose it. Its a bit like a serious disease :)

It's the fans, the culture and the sense of belonging.

You can see a fellow Blade anywhere in the world, break into a chant of nah nah he's a Blade and it's almost guaranteed they will join in.

Many a time my missus has been heard going ssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh at me when we're away on holiday.

It's the biggest and best kids club in the world.

The fact that, whilst we're not anywhere near the top four of the premiership, it's not inconceivable that one day we could be, I think the fact that we have the facilities and fan base to sustain top level football is what perpetuates a wholly unfounded sense of optimism for me. Whilst there are many football clubs who couldn't ever achieve premiership status, albeit that a lot of them are currently above us!

And the knowledge that if we did it, we'd do it the hard way, not via the unlimited funds of some Saudi Arabian Masochist Prince.

Has to be the winning.

I mean every full moon when it actually happens is always worth waiting for.

That's 2 vaguely questionable posts in the same no. of days!

Nothing questionable at all. Merely saying that I am a 57 yr old kid and there are lots more like me out there.

It's about the craic not the score.

it's the rare times when it comes right, like when I took my 5 yr old to his first game away to reading the year we went down from the champ. we were 2-0 down and lucky to be only 2, then from nowhere we scored 3 goals through hendo, Williamson and hendo again and won, it was the only away win mickey had and I was there.

it's getting promoted to the prem, it's beating manure in the FA cup, its singing the greasy chip butty song.
its wearing read and white stripes, it's seeing jags, walker and cahill in the England squad.

it's deano tackling grobelaar and sticking the ball over steve nicol's head from virtually the halfway line.

At one time i could say living in Leeds during Warnocks finest season.
Now..absolutely nothing.

When going as a nipper and seeing good football and thinking it's going to be like this all the time , then over the years going through up's and downs and still trusting in our club , although mum/dad / and brother were all pigs , it just felt right being a blade , and always wlll , son is now a Blade and keeps refering to united as "us or we" , I know we may never match the top half of the premier but Its the hope we will and if not so what ,we're blades and its what we are its in our d.n.a
their's no air's and graces bout us just honesty we know we can be shit but being a blade we just don' t give a fook . Thats why were not pigs. U.T.B.
