They were f***ing dire.

By any standard.
We've potential, but let's not get carried away just yet chaps.
I didn't think they were any different from 90% of league 1 sides myself. They were unpicked by 2 bits of quality in the 1st half and then had to go toe to toe with us 2nd half which always risked us rolling them over.

Are you back in attendance at the lane then?

They may have been dire, but at least United didn't come down to their level, as could have been the case.
Unfortunately, I didn't go today, but went to watch Curtis Woodhouse's team - Bridlington Town, who won 2-1, so a good day all round :D

No they weren't fucking dire - not at all. They competed well for most of that first half and at the opening of the second. What they didn't have was any sort of cutting edge in the final third. At half time they hadn't forced Moore to make a single save. In the first ten minutes of the second half they looked better than us and I was concerned they were going to pull one back - if they had done then it would have been a much closer contest perhaps. But we stepped up a gear in the last half-hour and not many teams will live with us when we play like that.

Why not try praising the Blades for a good all-round performance and an excellent performance in the last half-hour in particular rather than trying to make out we only won because they were crap?

Well said.... why can't we praise them for executing a great game plan, or something...

They were better than Gillingham. And it was hardly a complete performance from us. If one or two things went their way we could've been looking at another 2-2 rather than a 4-0. Just as against Gillingham we could've easily been looking at a 3 or 4 nil win. It wasn't a fair reflection being 2-0 up in the first half for example, and we didn't make bad defensive mistakes at bad times.

They were competent in most areas and played a bit of decent football too. Elliott was a handful up front, but those supporting him weren't up to it.

Their manager said they were very poor but if that's true they must be a pretty good team.

I thought Wimbledon were pretty good until they got near our goal.

No goal threat what so ever and never looked like scoring at any point.
They haven't scored a SINGLE GOAL in 6 or 7 away matches now and you could tell.

So in that respect they were dire.
Once we scored the game was affectively over.

Why?

I thought tge first half was a little disappointing especially after an early goal, after a 10 day break and new players I thought we would have a right go but it never happened, they competed without being a threat and as the halftime drew close I remember saying t was a bit boring, but the second half was like the team from earlier in the season, a joy to watch, hopefully we are back to where we want to be, lets get back to enjoying the ride, roll on Peterborough, can't wait.

£6 for Adults and £3 Concessions and a cup of Bovril £1.....you can't go wrong :D
It's £13 I think to get into Harrogate Town now, my local team, so apart from the cost in actually getting to Bramall Lane, not too much difference I. Cost.

True Wimbledon did not pose much threat at all.

That said you can only beat what is in front of you and we needed the 3 points to get back on track.

Whilst they had no cutting edge, I thought they wrestled control of the middle of the park for short spells better than most do at the Lane this season.

Yes I agree. At least they didn't just come to park the bus and timewaste. We were better than them. We should be. That's all.

If your on a pension, then it does make a difference...I have to pick and choose matches, and I take my son (from Beverly) and my brother in law, but I'm happy to say I've got tickets for the Scunny and Bolton games.

I thought once O'Connell got the handle of elliott they were done. Just frustrating not to get the 3rd earlier.

I don't care how good or bad the other team is. To win a league or get promoted you have to win different types of game. Ones you don't deserve, ones you do deserve, ones against better teams or worse team. Who fucking cares.

Man U used to win ugly one in every two games in their pomp.

Who gives a fuck how they were? Another example of that Bladey inferiority complex that our fans do so well.

Well fuck me with a brick for having an opinion. You do understand what discussion forums are about don't you?
Maybe they aren't for you.

Of course Pinchy understands.

This forum is expressly provided for Pinchy to ridicule Monty, Done and Dave Bassett. No two way discourse is allowed, as this may suggest that other people's opinions are as equally valid as his.

Anything remotely sensible is then finished up with a dig at his fellow Blades and this army of straw men; the 'S2 hoofers'.

A WUM of the first order.
