Jeez, give us (ie all of us, the club as a whole) a break.

Floundering, mid-table 3rd division side goes to Old Trafford and comes within 3 added minutes of a clean sheet and a replay, and our players need or deserve the slaughtering that some of them are getting in other threads on this forum, tonight ? Really ??!

Bullshit and bollocks.

Special mentions should go to McEveley, Collins and Woolford who have taken some stick but all 3 were 9/10 today excellent.

I haven't noticed anyone slaughtering them

"Slaughter" might be the wrong word. That's what disappointment and a too rapid bottle of wine can do for you. Apologies !

But have a dig around these threads. You'll find our performance yesterday described as "shit" (direct quote). You'll see us mocked for not having an effort on goal. You'll find Hammond savaged for the penalty tackle, Brayford lambasted for losing his man, Sammon attacked in the usual ways, etc, etc. Oh, and the usual Sunday morning sniping at Adko also seems to be in the air now. Ffs.

Admittedly, much of this rubbish does seem to come from peeps who weren't actually at the game ...

i wasnt' at the game either so i defer to your biggerness but
Sammon was crap mate at whatever level .. my wife knows nothing about football but piped up 'who is the bald headed one who keeps losing the ball'..
who is the 'floundering' club you are talking about anyway?? ;)

All the players deserve immense credit the way they stood up, stuck to their jobs and restricted Man U on their own patch to 3 long range shots and a couple of goal mouth scrambles

That side of our game was nothing short of fantastic in my view. Yes, we were disappointing going forward, but that's what comes with a well organised and well drilled team set up to deny a £200m squad from taking the piss

The only player I was a little disappointed with was perhaps Sammon, who couldn't make the ball stick even if his boots were made from Superglue; However, he still gets 9/10 for the effort and commitment he gave

I am a smaller blade than you, superpig. This much is clear.

I just don't see how anyone who's opinion is filtered thro other people's perspectives (cameramen, editors, commentators) can reliably describe us as "shit" yesterday. If you'd heard other people's opinions about a film but not seen it all yourself, or you'd seen a pirate copy which meant you could see some of the action but you couldn't see half of what was going on in other parts of the screen, but you still insist the film is "shit", why the hell would I trust you ?

None of which should obscure the ridiculous, boorish, toss suggestion that we were shit yesterday, or that certain players need digging out for their performance. Like I said. bullshit and bollocks.

I thought it was great effort and we deserved a draw. On the other hand, it did demonstrate once again that the complete lack of pace in our team makes it difficult for us to win matches even when playing well.

We all know that we need to strengthen in several areas. Our fans once again played their part yesterday. It's time for the Board to do their bit and put some meaningful investment in. One thing the last few years has shown is that we need quality not quantity - even if that costs a bit more money.

It's what some of our fans like to do. Some players have been slaughtered all season regardless of their actual performance, we do love a scapegoat.
Yes there was mistakes in conceeding the penalty, and I don't think Hammond would have slid in if it was earlier in the game, but that why our players are in league one.
It's wasn't a great Blade performance where we created our own changes but given where we are at the moment and how we've been playing the performance was encouraging and something to be welcomed. Let hope the players can put in the same amount of effort and concentration in League one.

ah come on mate.. who said we were 'shit'?? that is crazy..

Well, if you want the "shit" word specifically, you could start with the BT COVERAGE thread. Plenty of very critical comment of individual players, especially Hammond, to be found elsewhere.

Sammon had a job to do in the first half covering on the left as they were attacking down that side all the time. As a defensive force he did well ,and actually won more headers than usual but the ball wont stick with him going forward.

If you go to the game you have a far more informed view than watching the TV, let alone Edwards shite punditry.
I'm not sure you do. Watching the game on TV gives you a much closer view, including replays from different angles. On many occasions, you have people who went to the match saying "It looked a free kick to me until I saw the highlights" or "I can't comment until I see a replay" or something similar.

Though I had Iain Dowie jibbering and Jonathan Pearce jabbering their way through my coverage.

I thought it was a great effort by all the lads. The one question mark for me was Sammon who looked like a piece of the jigsaw puzzle that didn't know where it fitted.

Agree on specific incidents, but the ebb and flow of the game, team shape, tactics, tempo, substitutions, etc., you get a much better picture in the flesh.

On the radio, I think you barely get any insight at all anymore. It's such a breath of fresh air when Kevin Gage does the punditry. I've got huge respect for KE, but he's just waiting to make the same gripe he always does and his tactical analysis just isn't up to it.

TV rarely gives you a full pitch view and generally follows the play/ball. Therefore, I think you always get a better impression of the flow of the game live. But when discussing specific events, especially with the expertise of some (Bergen Blade ) then tv invaluable.

Personally i think your statement is the exact reason why we should slaughter them. Most of them have been a disgrace to the United shirt this season and had we worn a proper Red and White shirt, I would be demanding that they should never wear the Blades shirt again. As we're in 'italian white' we can let them off

The excessive zoom on most BP matches certainly makes it impossible to spot many off the ball runs, but like you say, analysing key situations in detail (e.g. was the defender playing the opposition onside too deep, or should the other three have been deeper as well) is very hard to do live.

And Hammond. Exhausted mistake going to ground in injury time apart, I thought he was excellent.

The exhausted play, is to just stand in front of him and generally get in the way ... would have been nice

He tried to win the Ball in the Penalty Area, fishing, with a tragic slide, giving a PL Referee the opportunity to enter the spotlight, which he took

Brayford did indeed lose his man, then try and turn him instead of booting it out, then Hammond mistimed the tackle. All mistakes. Pretty much the only mistakes I saw from both against a footballer signed for 10 times their value and in fairness, their only mistakes all night.

Excellent performance.

Tend to agree. It was a mistake, & a bad one, but one he should readily be excused for after the event.

I recall someone saying on another thread that his diving in was maybe overcompensation for his failed last gasp attempt to shepherd Peterboro's Samuelsen last week, which sounds pretty plausible.

He certainly doesn't deserve lasting ire. He had a magnificent game up till that point, & was the main reason for our shape & organization being so solid & tight.

That's exactly what I saw as well. Everyone did their job. Bearing in mind what we were up against we did brilliantly to a man. Coutts skinning Sweinsteiger was my own personal moment. We did start to threaten down the right on occasion but I wonder what the fuck some people expect away at Old Trafford?
