I've been supporting the Blades since the '50s. But only started going to matches around 63/64.
The best team I ever saw was the late 60's early 70's side. We had many international players and great individuals.
I don't think any of our current team would get close in terms of talent to Woody and Currie. We also had the likes of Badger and Hodgey.
Hodgey played for England and Badger got very close.
AND YET!!!
I've NEVER enjoyed football so much as we a play now. We play as a proper team with everyone contributing. Some of the passing in the last few months is as good as I have seen from ANY team.
Even Souness compared some of our passing to Barcelona last weekend. We can, of course, make silly errors and give the ball away too easily at times, but my oh my If you've never watched football in your life, start with us. You will soon be converted.
I get the impression that some peeps in the US have done this already. :)

We absolutely should be enjoying the moment. The football is as good as any that we (however old we are) have seen. It may turn out to be a false dawn, or we may be at the start of something special. Football can change very quickly. But this team is currently producing performances that are second to none. And I can confirm your last observation - my brother, a lifelong Blade who moved to the States many years ago, reports that in South Carolina, hardly a hotbed of soccer, sports fans are getting interested in the Blades, especially after the Man U match.

I almost work solely with people in the US at the moment - Chicago and New York and they are all now engaging in conversations about “Sheffield” when we chat.

Prior to this season, I think they thought I was a weirdo when I explained who I supported.
