Enormous credit to these 2 yesterday. Stevens has been fantastic for a number of months but with George having an up and down in and out season it’s important for him to now get a run, that’s 2 great games on the bounce for him offensively and defensively.

Losing one of their centre halves meant a change in shape and a back 4 for 15 minutes, but they never really got round the back of us even when they were creating 2, sometimes 3 v 1’s down the sides.

I always kept my faith in Baldock because I prefer him as a wing back to Freeman, he’s just more of an athleted and he’s more committed to the cause. He’s now also adding defending to his all round game.

Stevens makes 1 or 2 minor mistakes in a game but as a wingback it happens - very rarely costly and he’s improved tenfold since the beginning of the season. A POTY contender

Normally when you’ve got a 4 at the back you have at least a wide midfielder helping you out - well for 15 minutes these 2 had very little help and not once did we look stretched or troubled even when they had their more attacking players on.

Absolutely top notch and may have gone under the radar.

To improve on these 2 you’d be looking at £10mil for both positions, and we got them for next to fuck all. Outstanding.

Agree, think Baldock has a lot of potential.
His strengths are attributes he was born with, pace/ stamina/ desire.
His weaknesses are something that can be improved on the training pitch with good coaching.

Stevens is much improved and so consistent, seems to have mentally adjusted that he belongs at this level.

I mentioned recently that I thought our wing backs although ok were our weakest link, I have to agree that since I said that they have, to an extent proved me wrong , so it is obviously down to my comments that they have improved, well done lads, oh and by the way Basham,Henderson and Coutts are also weak,so come on lads buck your ideas up.
