¡No Pasarán!
Wilson's second season
Top at chrimbo. Sold Blackman. Bought badly. Sacked the manager when in 6th. Ended the season looking like a league 2 team.
McCabe’s low point I’d suggest.

Wilson's second season
There was a 1 3 rollover, home to Bury, under Adkins.I will never forget that evening at Bury away, sends shivers down my spine how bad we were
Hahaha.I know this is sacrilege because everyone loved this performance for some reason, but being walloped 4-0 at home by Scunthorpe.
a lot of us were tbfI'm sure a well known forum poster was drooling about David Weir. Anyone care to guess who?
Yes the Burton game for me. The whole team looked completely clueless. No one seemed to know where they were playing or what the formation was or what they were supposed to be doing. Quite clear to me Adkins was completely useless.Crewe away when they hadn’t won at home for about a year, or Burton at home under Adkins.
Gillingham away.
Port Vale away on Boxing Day was grim too.
.
Just as an aside Mrs NYB says that in one of the ladies toilets on John Street there is a sticker with 'Ryan Flynn is a babe'. Now I'm not criticising the cleaners, but how long has Flynn been gone!
My last away league game I announced my retirement from away games that day, I think it was about 11:40pm just outside Chesterfield in a mini bus managing about 5mph in a blizzard.
1-4 in that game. We'd had a free kick just after half time and it hit the wall. Shrewsbury ran up the pitch with Dean Hammond and mceverley chasing back and getting no where near there players.2-4 Shrewsbury
What I love about Duffy is that he stated out in non league and now he will be in the premier league. Vauxhall Motors and Prescott Cables to the top tier. That game for me too. Bury away was bad also but at The Lane, up against Clough, not only did we not register a shot on target we failed to register any presence at all on the football pitch. Truly dire performance.
One thing from that night, Burton had a little tricky winger but instead of playing him on the wing they were playing him in a free role behind Beavon. Tore us to shreds and was the main reason we hardly touched the ball. I said to my Dad I wished we'd signed that Duffy when he was at Scunny. He was class.
And here we are.
Yep. I think 11:40pm was pretty much the time I decided to abandon my car half way up the long hill on the Dronfield by-pass and start walking. We played shite, too. Hideous memries.
Why that man has a good managerial reputation anywhere completely eludes me.Most of the Adkins stuff of course...
But I have a special place in my compost heap for the home defeat to Fleetwood under the absolute charlatan Nigel Clough.
