It will be interesting to see the difference in the crowd. The attendance for the Leicester game was 3632. My guess is that we get about double that for today's game.

I'd still say any attendance validates what they're trying to do (the guy who implemented the changes was defending them in a newspaper article and using the overall attendance as a plus point for him).

So I won't be attending any round and hope most won't either.

Personally I don't think it has any effect on what they will do regardless of the attendance figures. Prem teams just want better competition for there U23s. They don't give a fuck how many watches and money talks. At least we won't be having them in our leagues. That would be the first step to suicide. I'll be there tonight and almost certainly at Grimsby too. Just enjoy watching and supporting my team. Each to there own

Boycotting every game in this cup including the final if they get there. Do we still have to play at least 6 of the players who started the last game?

We need to be bigging this tournament up in case we ever win it! :)

If attendances decrease then they will have to sit and take notice.

If they are successfully integrated into this competition, they WILL be integrated into the league at some point. This is the first step.

Let's not infer that those not going to this sham conpetition don't enjoy supporting their team too. For me personally, it's about the bigger picture.

I read that article and the last comment was interesting where the guy said they would need to 'review it' if two under 23 sides get to the final. He also said something in reference to the big sides not entering because of the fixture clashes with internationals that it was already difficult to schedule in more fixtures...... so don't bother.
Wembley day out or not, I don't think there's any credibility to be gained from winning this competition. I hope the Blades go out as early as possible and don't pick up any unwanted injuries or suspensions as a result.

I was inferring nothing Pete, merely stating I enjoy watching my team be it Mickey Mouse cup, pre-season friendly or a league game. As I said each to there own and those going equally shouldn't be judged by those who aren't. It's personal choice and can see both sides of the argument. Personally i don't think it will make a blind bit of difference whether there are 1600 or 3600 there tonight. Money talks and the premier league has too much of it for there own good. Sadly that's the reality of it all. My own point of view is that it should be scrapped full stop. The idea was for lower league clubs to have a day out at Wembley and a chance to win something but the play offs provide this

Exactly this.

If the powers that be want reserves in the EFL it will happen at some point, not because of attendances in this comp but because money talks and they will get their way in the end.

people who are thinking about supporting this competition this season should read this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37544161
What an arrogant cunt he is. Why the fuck should lower league teams provide opportunities for teams that play outside the football league anyway?

I fully understand people wanting to go and watch their team in whatever circumstances, so we don't need to drag that argument up again.

If it was a level playing field and we could choose to field whatever team we wanted then it would be less of an issue.

He's also burbling on about fixing problems again. There are no problems being fixed by this format, as least, not problems for football league clubs.

No first team exposure for young players at PL clubs? If that's a problem it's simply solved. Limit squad sizes and/or ban the loaning out of players in large numbers. Players then go further down the pyramid and play more first team games. Simple.

"We wanted to create the opportunity for younger players at Category One academy clubs, and, indeed, our clubs, to gain valuable experience in senior football"

Send them out on loan, then. Why is it now our obligation to ensure the little darlings of Premier League (and some Championship) clubs get a run out in a competitive men's fixture? It's a complete farce.

I'm not sure if I boycotted the last game or just disregarded it as a non-event. Either way I'll be tiling the ensuite tonight.

I think this one has 'watch later on Bladesplayer' written all over it.

If opportunities for young academy players is at the heart of it then how fucking clever of them to get rid of the loan window, without doing anything to stop PL clubs building up huge rosters of players. They're useless.

Just remembered, the loan window ban is the work of FIFA - apparently we'll now have more 'integrity' in the game.

But nobody's doing anything to prevent the huge rosters being assembled, such as limiting the number of players clubs can loan out. Allowing clubs to sign up young kids as U16s (often by dubious means) knowing that many of them are not going to have any opportunities to play is full of 'integrity' you see.

Hopefully the loan window ban isn't going to be here to stay. It's ridiculous.

The loan window ban is bad for young players, it's bad for Football League clubs, especially those with lower budgets, gives a further advantage to those with bigger budgets and it can only be bad for international football too, which you'd think FIFA might care about.

It only needed tweaking. Ideally it would only be open for 2/3 weeks and you'd be able to loan any player until January - the 93 day limit was stupid. After that 2/3 week period only emergency short term loans should be allowed.
