Well fellas, seven games into the new season and we are top, with a haul of 17 points. Although, I don't think we have played a team yet which will end the season in the top six.

It is not too difficult to identify our challengers;

Preston
Charlton
MK Dons
Huddersfield

Our destiny will largely depend on how we perform against these teams. I think we can get points from the others, not with standing dropping "the odd cod" which is bound to happen.

One or two members thought we would be mid table this season. I am feeling a bit more optimistic.

If we continue to beat everyone else, I dont think it will matter if we drop points to the teams youve mentioned.

And if we get anything from these games coming up,and hopefully they don't get many points leading up to and after our games against them, then these teams will just be replaced by another set of teams and on and on and on and on.when does it get to the point where we have genuine contenders to knock us of our perch. Yes we will loose some we shouldn't have, and we will win some games we've been battered in.But I wouldn't worry to much about the so called better teams as long as we are there at the end of the season the rest will be fighting each other for the scraps.UTB.

There is nothing to fear in this division. But the 1st big test of this division for us starts on tuesday.

I would add wednesday to that list.

The only list I would add wendy to is the shit list. Then they would truly be "happy as pigs in shit". UTB

HH,

Sorry for the pedantry but 'notwithstanding' is one word, notwithstanding that some split it into three.

:)

It is still too difficult to preduct how this season will go. We have had a dream start and this has raised expectations. I do not buy this argument that we have not played anyone any good. I think the division is just poor all round. It is true that Tuesday is a big test, but Huddersfield will bot be relishing it. Think about it from their point of view. They are coming to a ground big ground, with great support and are playing a team that are unbeaten and have won all their home games. Anyway, back to the season. I initiallu said we will finish mid table, but I actually think we have a chance of promotion. I think the first 11 is good enough to win the league. However the problem is strength in depth. We actually have good strenght in depth in centre mid, but defence is a massive worry. Wilson is playing a dangerous game waiting for Ertl or Morgs to come back as defensive cover. An injury to Collins or Maguire and we are up shit greek. However, if they stay fit we could have one of the best defensive records in the league! Up front it is difficult to say. Cresswell, Porter and Evans will all get goals at this level but are fairly limited and all have track records with injuries. The unknowns are Tonne and Philskirk. If they offer a good supporting role then they that could work. As with everything in football it comes down to a lot of unknowns. Another aspect is how we cope with a bad patch. How will Wilson (and the players) deal with it. I will stick my neck out and say that we have a great chance of automatic promotion if we get a bit of luck. Luck in the form of keeping key players fit mostly.

We missed all the players last season who are coming slowly back to the fold
These are players who have kept us in the top 10 of the championship , we lost that as most of our key players were out for huge chunks of last season

Even now Evans is just back , Morgan and Ertl and others are still to return
We have 9-10 players in our first team squad that is used to competing for a top ten championship spot
Whatever spin you put on last season we got relegated as too many first choice players were out leaving half a team struggling with strangers to get results

A fully fit squad , back to match fitness will lift us out mof this division with ease, weve had 2 horrendous seasons of injuries, hopefully its coming to an end

All teams suffer with injuries but as you say BTL we have had a run of them they also left our squad playing on with injuriesand short of a decent striker in our Wembley appearance.
