The waiting game

What he's saying is right though. Better to wait for the right man to become available rather than waste a loan on someone who can simply "do a job" (i.e. fill a gap). The only problem is we have three games coming up before the international break.....all difficult ones. We could find ourselves stuck in a bit of a rut by then.

Lets hope we can get a few points out of these games in the meantime.

With Wardy suspended, I can't see him going with anything other than the team who started on Saturday, particularly being away again. Other than that, he's only really got Boggy or Yeates to come in or maybe Lowton on the right ?

I think he's got to change it Jim. They haven't got a goal in them.

Agreed he has to do something a lot of blades will expect to lose tonight so if he does change it and it doesn't work then at least people can say we tried.

Agree with trying to use Calve as a winger, he can pass and cross pretty well, maybe thats why De Laet was brought in??

Could see a line up of the following tonight:

Simonsen
De Laet Bartley Nosworthy Jordan
Calve Britton Montgomery Yeates
Evans Cresswell

Subs: Wright, Lowton, Ertl, Quinn, Bogdanovic, Taylor, James/Chappell

I have bad memories of us doing the right-back as a winger experiment at Forest - didn't we try the same with Simon Francis, another of those that seemed to have all the attributes needed for the position? It was up there with Tommy Johnson and Axel Smeets as horror performances right wingers I've seen live.

You know what Soton.....that doesn't look half bad. Might be worth a try but I'm not convinced Calve has the right sort of mentality to play on the right of midfield. At the moment we need to try something though!

4-4-2 Sots? You're 'avin a larf aint yer?

It will be:

Simonsen
Calve Bartley Nosworthy Jordan
Cresswell Ertl Britton Montgomery Quinn
Evans

Subs: Wright, Lowton, De Laet , Yeates, Bogdanovic, Taylor, James/Chappell/Slew

Set up to try to stop them playing.

I think this is what he will go with, but with De Laet possibly replacing Calve.

That was at Sunderland wasn't it?

Unless, God Forbid, Warnock tried it twice.

Definitely happened at Forest in 2005 - Kozzie was behind him at right-back, it was a really poor 1-1. He couldn't have looked more unsuited on the night, though the fact that he looked comfortable on the ball, seemed to be able to cross, and liked to get forward should have meant he'd have been able to cope.

There are certainly worse things we can try than Calve at right wing, but I'd expect Yeates to come back in before that happens.
