The very worst Championship in living memory.

Theres a strange coincidence amongst many of my blade mates.

When were crap , footballs crap , the leagues crap , footballers are tossers , non league is better .

When were doing ok all the above miraculously dissappear.

Every season some people say it's the worst Championship ever.

Get ready for next season when it'll be even worse.

We're going to regret how poor we have been this season IMO, probably the weakest Championship I remember (Millwall 2nd with +9 goal difference says a lot, pigs giving free 3 points to every single team). Next season Wolves, Burnley and West Ham or Spurs is a big step-up. No more parachute payments too.

I have been saying this all season. Usually there are 3 teams coming down from EPL with decent squad and first year para payments (like Leeds and Burnley last year) who will get 2 autos, leaving one slot through playoffs. The teams which came down last year Leicester, Soton and Ipswich have not looked like promotion sides (nothing like Leeds and Burnley were). So its teams withou

without para payments Coventry, Boro, Millwall, look like getting autos. Weakest Campionship for years. We had para payments and a team who got 92 points last season minus 2 good players but with ability and money to recruit and we are nowhere near. Depressing. Mainly down to owners who know nothing about the EFL and football and the assist disastrous decision to put Selles in charge.

It’s bad this year let’s be honest. Yourselves Burnley and Leeds were genuinely decent outfits year, stick the cov scum in last years league and they ain’t getting a sniff.

It's difficult to compare but on the whole I think Coventry are better than we were last season.

But like you say they haven't had to play four games against Leeds and Burnley like we did.

Well yeah in our case it’s only good having parachute payments if you don’t need them to keep the running costs of the club going.😂

Genuinely haven’t made a permanent signing, free or transafer for over 12 months and even he has played about four games and has spent most of his time on the payroll out on loan, haven’t made a meaningful signing for about 19 - 20 months now.

I wouldn’t disagree they are better, but in last years league they still wouldn’t be good enough to go up.

Probably not.

Last season was a strange one for us because after an incredible start we never looked the same after Harry Souttar got injured on Boxing Day.

It eventually caught up to us and we dropped off a cliff six games from the end of the season.

Yes I remember. Can’t even really put my finger on way, Soutar was a big loss but your main Achilles heal was you needed clean to win as you weren’t as free scoring as Burnley or Leeds.

Bamfords helped but the problem with him and what has always been the problem with him is there is no in between. He’s scoring goals or he looks like a passenger.

You don’t want to go up and win stuff anyway, this is going to sound like a proper first world problem but when you come crashing back down to this shit it’s 10x more depressing than it is anyway.

Millwall.

Yes fucking Millwall are 2nd.

It’s even worse than I thought back in November.

Shocking standards and we have many multi million pound players underperforming week in week out.

UTB
The funny thing is we bought one of their supposedly 'better' players.

Worked out well that.

And Norwich are genuinely better than Millwall btw

I watched it, it's clear

The clutch of teams going for 2nd are incredibly mediocre

But I hope Millwall go up. It's about time really. They can shake shit up a bit

It annoys me how Coventry stumble on a good season and immediately win the league but the numerous times we've been decent the best we can hope for is 2nd

Southampton will probably win the play offs

We'signed plenty of players! A couple have been decent. Reidewald,Bamford. The rest have have been awful. Rothwell, and all the ones signed in August/September 2025.

Im a Leicester fan mate, I live in Sheffield.

I’m well aware you, and everyone else but Wednesday and us have signed players 😂

And we are 3rd bottom. A fuckin travesty.

The standard of football this year is really quite poor considering the Championship is “supposed” to be the 5th or 6th “best” league in Europe.

I have my thoughts as to why this is so but we need to start to take advantage of this, and soon.

Said it all season
Not one good team in the league - as opposed to 3 last season.
It's largely down to imbecile managers and copying PepShit Cocoa the clowns ant-football tactics.
The imbecile Wilder has two of the best attacking players in the division - only Philogene and ex blade Moore have impressed me this season outside the club -
and yet this absolute imbecile plays them both in totally the wrong positions.
Hamer is a top no 10 (but a lightweight muppet plays there instead)
Or a top right sided attacking player in a 3-4-3
Brooks is a top left sided attacker and has been wasted the last two season on the right side playing backwards more than forwards simply because
HE IS ON THE WRONG ******** SIDE to attack
Destroying our attack and weakening the defence with Hamer playing where he is.
SUFC are not third rate
- WILDER IS.
Wouldn't trust him with the credit card to buy the milk for the tea lady let alone reshape the team.
RELEGATION NEXT SEASON WITH HIM IN CHARGE
unless unbelievably the teams are all managed by the brain dead.

It’s rare for 2 relegated teams from EPL to go straight back up (via autos or play-offs). It’s more usual for 1 to do this. I don’t think there’s ever been a season when all 3 have gone back up (but could be wrong here).
This season it looks most likely Ipswich will go straight back up in autos as they’re 2nd with games in hand.
Southampton look to be well placed too, but playoffs include an element of luck.
From that, it looks like a fairly typical championship season.
Millwall have been close to the play-offs year-in year-out, and will be in there this year.
I wonder what people were saying when they saw Sheffield United in 2nd after 6 years in league 1 and one year in the championship?
If anyone is second in the championship, it means they’ve had a good season, and they’re a good side, rather than meaning the league has somehow gone downhill in my view.

Both Coventry and Southampton are good sides and probably as good as we were last year after Souter left.

I think the Championship is just beginning to mirror the PL in that Physicality,Systems/Tactics,Fitness, Mentality and those sort of things are coming more to the fore now and the standout individuals are in the background, but ready to do their bit as and when.
Burnley were a good example, and Cov,Wall, and Ipswich are examples this season, set up well and decent tactically with a couple of above average individuals in key positions.
Southampton have shown most of the season they have been bang average but finally got their act together, and Boro look like being what they are every season, they just don't get enough right in enough games to go up.
Sunderland showed last season that getting the right blend of organisation, physicality and fitness plus tactics, good mental attitude and a few half decent players can get you.
Think Norwich will go well next season if they get their blend right.

It annoys me how Coventry stumble on a good season and immediately win the league but the numerous times we've been decent the best we can hope for is 2nd
I won't lament 'typical blades bad luck' for this because we have had some good times in recent years, but this is something I have also picked up and am annoyed by.
