Come on, all of those who supported this original thread...

Tell us some more about "The Value of Done"?

Tell us how much he adds to the team - with his 2 goals in 50 odd games. And his incessant running around in circles without the ball?

Tell us how much better he is than those ahead of him in the first team?

And quote us some stats on how we won games when he was playing but lost when he wasn't? (But ignore the first 5 games if you want when he played but we didn't win).

He's finished. That's it. End of story. And some of us knew that months ago.

Has he shagged your missus tonight or something?

BTW - in case you should wonder... I'm not having a pop at Matty Done. He is what he is. A hard working player who has given his all to us and bust a gut, for sure, in every game I've seen him play. But,
he's not good enough. That's a fact.

I'm only having a dig at those folk that thought we should rely on him, as a striker, to fire us to promotion. To those that wrote stupid threads about how his running and endeavour created chances for Billy Sharp. Absolute nonsense. And now they know it is true eh?

Probably the same folk that though we should never sign Hanson?

Cerberus Blade , I am not a lover of Done who is no more than bang average league 1 class player . He has stood out because we have upped the benchmark level of performance requirements , and he doesn't hit the levels now required.

However , not a bad impact player and still a part of the squad . Not finished IMO as he still wears a red and white shirt and bench warmer .

He will be on his way in the summer , surplus to requirements , when we rebuild the squad . Thats when he will be finished.:D

Can we also have your thoughts on Clarke as this point too folks!???!
And Mcnulty for that matter, and then we can all argue with eachother!!

I've definitely not researched this, but I'd say we at least have a higher goals per game ratio in the ones where Done started compared to when he didn't start (wing back starts definitely don't count because he's as much of a wing back as I am)

If, if we get promoted then I have no doubt that Done will be one of the first out of the door. Hard working, 100% commitment but a poor finisher.
No one doubts this, but it's a rather random time to take an opportunity to remind everyone.

Good job I'm not in the mood to change the name and stats.

You may be right - but do you understand statistics? For something to have statistical relevance you have to prove that in 95 times out of a 100 the result would be the same. This is usually expressed as a "p value" of >0.05. Take the number 100. Then take away 0.05 and you have 0.95 remaining. Or if that's difficult, add 0.05 to 0.95 and you should get 100.

I'm sorry to tell you, but you are talking rubbish when you suggest that the games that Done started ended up in better results for the team. They didn't. Not statistically valid at all. You might as well consider what colour socks you wore for those matches.

I know folks don't like admitting they are wrong. It's not nice. But the facts are that all those who supported this guy's inclusion in the team are totally wrong. And when he's gone into oblivion this summer it will be perfectly obvious, although still deniable to most.

knobhead thread really

No. The knobhead threads were started by those who wanted to keep Done in the team when it was blatantly obvious that he had nothing to offer and didn't deserve a shirt. That's why I'm inviting them to come back on here now and defend their position.

We have, for the first time in years, a club where every single employee is pulling in the same direction, from tea lady to 20+ goal striker. Matt Done is a part of that, and what is more, ran his arse off for that 20+ goal striker during that vital time which pushed us up the table and provided the platform for where we sit today. Anyone who would choose this precise moment to single out such a player for criticism is an attention seeking child, who, on a school night, should be in bed by now.

Why?

So you can sneer at their arguments in a knobhead-esque manner?

Getting a bit like a WWF thread .

Yes, gladly.

I have always defended Clarke. I think he's a good player at this level. And he is. But the problem with him is attitude. The guy has a history of being a "sick note" and this goes back a long time. He has not worked out at United and he has no future here. It's not painful for me to admit this - I got it completely wrong. I honestly thought he would be great for us. But he isn't - and we should get rid asap. Same as with Done.

As for McNutly - 2 years ago I was annoyed that he had been let go out on loan. Why wouldn't you be? He was our leading scorer and the lad never got a chance. But - talented though he is, he doesn't seem mature enough to make a contribution. So let him go forth and multiply as well.

I defended Done before Lavery was fit and looked clearly the better player, and before we finally brought in a fit and decent big man in Hanson. It's called progress and I doubt anyone defending Done as I did was opposed to us strengthening in that department. So what's the point here? That Done is shit because we brought in better? Can't really change my evaluation based on him not playing.
