1993??? heh.. good effort.. but scraping the barrel a bit there mate .. we'll see. none of the contenders are exactly tearing it up are they? in fact we seem to be the form team
I reckon 86 points will do it this season.

At this stage of the season in 1993 Bolton were 7 points behind second placed Port Vale with a game in hand. Port Vale averaged 2 points per game for the remainder of the season ending with 89 points but finished 3rd behind Bolton with 90 points and Stoke with 93.

With only a few games to go you cannot rule out teams getting well above 2 points per game.

Wow!

I've just had a look on statto and in the final 18 games their form was: W15 D2 L1.

That's 47 points out of a possible 54!

if any of the chasers achieve champion form ie 2 points per game.. they'll end up around 84 points.. therefore we need to win 6 games which is all our home games and a couple of draws
Maths not your strong point? :)

Blades - Ten games to go 30 points
Fleetwood - Ten games to go 30 points
Bolton - Eleven games to go 33 points

Blades 9 points clear of third with vastly superior GD - so Bolton need to make up 10 points in 11 matches
Blades 8 points clear of second with vastly superior GD - so Fleetwood need to make up 9 points in 10 matches

**Blades need 20 points from 30 points to win promotion
**Blades need 21 points from 30 points to win title

** this assumes Bolton and Fleetwood don't drop any points between now and the end of the season.

Realistically 25 points from either Bolton or Fleetwood during the run in would be a phenomenal achievement.

This would leave the blades only needing 15 points for automatic and 16 for the title - it's got to be our year!

NTFC fan here I would like to see u go up or crowned champions at our place think it would make wilder more than 'appeh' and he and u as fans would get a good response from us lot plus personally I would be on the pitch with u reliving last years amazing season. All the best and good luck

throwaway comment.. it depends how you define ' a couple'.. we'll need around 22 points i reckon

We need 23 to go up, or 25 to be champions - and that assumes Fleetwood and Boltoon win all their remaining games.

I would simply like us to win every game from now until the end of the season. We have the team to do it, that is why we are top of the league, if we can stop letting silly goals in, our midfield and strikers will take care of the rest (and I include Freeman in the "strikers" bit).

what hog wash

http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/division-two/1992-1993/table/1993-03-30

they were 11 points behind stoke , and didn't overtake the top club

we are in stokes position , not port vales

entirely bogus comparison

if anything it shows how stong our position is , Stoke won the league from being in the same position we are
thanks for posting this season , more convinced than ever we will win the league now
for port vale then enter fleetwood now
and compared to 1993 this bolton team sucks

Stoke ended up with 93 points - if we get 93 points or even 90 we will go up. 85 maybe enough but from certain.

cant see us getting less than 95 with games we have left
we wiped the floor with bolton
why do people think we will crumble against poorer teams
mystifies me

its the blades way , no longer exists
this is the CW team it doesnt do no shows

Obviously there's a huge range of outcomes still statistically possible with 10 games to come. However, everything about this team, both players and management give me confidence that we will not be overtaken, and will go up as champions.
So rather than speculate about how other teams might fare against us over those 10 games, I'd rather salivate over what is still possible. And looking at the run in we have to play, we could still realistically achieve 100 points. Which would be absolutely fantastic, and what a great 6 weeks to look forward to! But I'll settle for 95+ and still feel we've finished really well.
I'd also love to see our favourite no. 1 striker and local boy team captain reach 35 goals this season (why not?) But again, reaching 30 would be a fantastic finish and guarantee him top scorer in any case.
As always, I'm about to refresh my glass......lets go for it!

Daft as it sounds, if all results go our way we could be promoted in 2 weeks time after Millwall, but I know thats not happening.

I'm saying cov game

Bratfud for me too. Live on Sly TV broadcasting to the millions :D

If we average 1 point per game for the remaining 9 games it puts us on 84.

Fleetwood would then need 1.9ppg to beat us to top, and Bolton 1.8ppg

If we win one and average 1ppg over the remaining 8 we're on 86, leaving Bolton needing 2ppg and Fleetwood 2.1

If we win two then average 1ppg for the remaining 7 we finish on 88 meaning Bolton need 2.2ppg and Fleetwood 2.3ppg.

In summary, this is looking good.

I'm getting quite excited.

Where's the feckin graph?

Just looking at run ins and both Bolton and Fleetwood have easy fixtures apart from Peterborough and milwall

Bolton go to a resurgent Scunny and Southend also, not so easy, Fleetwood can go and fuck themselves.

Fleetwood are 8 points behind and can get 27 points. Statistically, they are the third placed team because of BWFC's game in hand. If they win every game, we'd need 20 points to guarantee promotion.

Bolton are 9 points behind but can get 30 points; this means they can get further in front of us than Fleetwood. If they win every game, we need 22 points for the title.

Magic Number = 20/22 points won in 9 games but this reduces every time Fleetwood or Bolton drop points.

Earliest we can win promotion = Coventry (h)

Earliest we can win title = Northampton (a)

Miserable though it might sound I don't think we can rely on Bolton or Fleetwood to drop points.
Neither of them have any games they would worry about.
Anyone thinking that we could win promotion with 85 pts should have a word with themselves.
(Not that I'd complain if it actually happened ;))

so bolton wont worry going to oxford southend or scunthorpe
are you sure

well which games will we be wary of

and fleetwood wont be wary of millwall but we should be ,,, why

i fail to see why blades think we can lose to lower clubs
but cant see rivals faltering playing higher placed clubs

its a really strange perception some blades have

I still think it will take 94-95 points.

Fleetwood are still in good form, winning at Walsall is as hard as it gets, and fucking Bolton have found goal scoring form from nowhere.

its hard for us , bogey team

weve lost as many games as fleetwood in 2017
and lost less than the rest

but just ignore that, remember past teams losing as its the blades way , what a crock of shit

open your eyes and look at the number of goals we score
