The Solution

Not quite sure it's CW's fault we somehow failed to score any of the 22 chances we had last night but hey ho.

I get football is a results business but this season has been such fine margins shown by the fact, barring Chelsea, there hasn't been more than 1 goal difference in any of the games.

The problem with Big Sam is that he's just an upgraded version of Blackwell. He'll get results and would possibly keep us up but it'll be horrible to watch. Just look at how he's viewed by the fans of all the clubs he's had since Bolton.

I may be in the minority here but I don't want to survive at all costs if the football is terrible as I hated the Blackwell full season even though we nearly went up.
If big Sam comes in I’m done with football!

I'd certainly go for those three up front. If Jesus can't kick a ball maybe he can perform a miracle (heard he's good at those) and make McBurnie into a footballer. :)
Wank in goal though. Almost like he's got holes in his hands.

You’re talking utter bollocks. He’s the best manager? Fuck off. Shite loads of managers have achieved a double promotion within 2 seasons, CW didn’t even manage that. We were the biggest club in L1, the fact we didn’t get promoted sooner was a disgrace. We had a huge budget, he overhauled the full squad, not any L1 club could do that. He’s now spent £100M in the PL and we look fucking pathetic. So, clearly, he’s not the best manager, and by statistics, he’s the worst in the PL.
Name the “ loads” of managers that have achieved 2 promotions in 3 years. He took the “biggest “ club in league one up at HIS first attempt. The huge budget that he overhauled the squad with was generated by player sales, Adams, Calvert-Lewin Brooks etc & certainly not the full squad as you claim. The fact that we were not promoted from league one sooner was nothing to do with Chris Wilder. The “100 m” spent in the premier league is a lot by our standards but not a lot, over 2 years as most clubs. I notice you haven’t mentioned wages which are the biggest obstacle in player recruitment in the Premier League. I’m pretty sure after a few months of Sam Allardyce you’d be complaining again, in fact not even after that long because every post you make is negative. Are you a Sheffield United supporter because IF you show very little if any evidence of it.

Name the “ loads” of managers that have achieved 2 promotions in 3 years.
Adkins with Southampton and Steve Evans with Rotherham are both very recent examples I can recall, that’s without any research, I’m sure there are plenty more.

I’ll debate other than posting shite tell me why wilder should go, tell me who you would replace him with and why and tell me what any such new manager would do with our current squad.

Have you been in a coma for the last 4 years ?
I’ll reply because you’ve asked some reasonable questions, even though you ruined it by talking drivel.

CW should go because football is a results business. Unfortunately, he’s not bringing results, with a whopping 1 point out of 30 this season. Horrendous form, no other PL manager would survive this spell, be realistic.

Sam Allardyce would be a decent replacement, whether you like him or not, he’s an experienced PL manager and he fucking gets results. This season could be salvaged, but we’ve got to react sooner rather than later.

It has been done plenty of times but it's still not that common.

Graham Taylor (Watford)
Nigel Adkins (Southampton)
Eddie Howe (Bournemouth)
Paul Lambert (Norwich)
Darren Ferguson (Peterborough)
Darrell Clarke (Bristol Rovers)
Paul Tisdale (Exeter)
Graham Westley (Stevenage)
Peter Taylor (Hull)
Steve Evans (Rotherham)
Ronnie Moore (Rotherham)
Neil Warnock (Notts County)
Dave Bassett (Wimbledon)
Dave Bassett (Sheffield United)

Sorry but promotions between the 4th and 3rd tiers are just not the same.
He got us promoted to the Prem with the 8th lowest wage bill in the league and had us challenging for europe with the lowest wage bill in the top flight.

The big transfer fees have all gone on young players. Brewster and Berge in particular still have huge potential.
We got promoted with an old squad, that’s a fact and the manager is already working to address that.

Shit, why haven't we ever considered appointing any of them??

Absolutely bang on the money! I would sooner see us go down and keep a manager that you know will go for it again rather than stay up with a dinosaur! I cannot believe any real Sheffield United fan wanting Sam Alardyce over Chris Wilder! I refuse to believe there is anyone out there.

As much

As much as I agree we need to be more positive, in this league that kind of formation is a recipe for disaster. Mouse (especially) and Burke are unlikely to track back consistently and with Baldock and Osborne covering the wings Berge and Fleck would be completely overun in midfield by teams playing 3 central midfielders that are way better than they are.
Sorry to be so dismissive but IMHO that is tactically nieve

Was going to keep the discussion tactical and say something similar.

That 3-4-3 might work on FIFA but as you say, in real life it would expose us out wide every time Baldock and Stevens push on - and can you imagine the space out wide when the CB's overlap too. If people think we're defensively exposed at the moment, wait until they see us play that formation.

Dropping a forward and playing a No 10 would have more merit in a 3-5-1-1 - but we simply don't have anyone who can play that role.

Two of the biggest misses this season are last season's McGoldrick and Lundstram - both of whom really made the system work. Those two are shadows of their former selves and if it's one criticism of Tufty its not identifying this and buying backups/replacements for those two.

We have to keep Wilder whatever happens. He genuinely loves the club, the city and has real emotional investment in our future success. He has an excellent managerial record at every level of the game. Because of all this he is prepared to work within the financial constraints that we obviously have, to preserve the clubs future, which has to be in the interests of everyone.

I think this is very important and why Wilder holds all the aces over any other manager. Of those even available, the likes of Alladyce wouldn’t endure a lack of funds. All managers are basically mercenaries, they don’t care about the club they manage, certainly not above their own interests. The modern coaching manual is just a cheque book. The Premier League can be summarised like this, ‘If you’ve got billions to spend its difficult to fail, if you don’t have billions to spend its difficult to succeed!’ and this is what many supporters seem to be conveniently disregarding.

Name any top manager, Klopp, Mourinhio or Gaudiola none would entertain Sheffield United, because our lack of financial clout would mean they would have to coach and their reputations would take a hit. The same is true, to a lesser extent, of even mediocre managers, but worse they have no emotional attachment that would prevent them adopting a ‘boom or bust’ policy with our limited resources, like we saw during Robsons tenure.

After sensible and rational consideration of all the many factors involved, there can only be one conclusion and that is, that the best man for the job, hands down is Chris Wilder. Let’s get behind him FFS! 😤

The solution is get rid of CW. Football is not about sentiment. He’s devoid of any new ideas, 1 point out of 30 this season. No other PL club would keep a manager with that record. Unfortunately his time here is up. The longer CW stays the longer this poor form will continue.
Wendy fans' biggest wish (well above our relegation from PL) is that Wilder no longer managing us and that is why you are trying so hard in spreading the hate in here.

Someone asked for the solution, I gave a reasonable answer. Don’t like it, don’t fucking read it.

It’s laughable how many people can’t accept a valid opinion.

You have literally said we should appoint allardyce! Fuck off now piggy it’s getting boring! Surely you must be worried about your own team?

Allardyce is an experienced PL manager. He also doesn’t hold the record for the worst PL start in football history. Now there’s a thought.

I would rest McBurnie, he’s had over a season and a quarter and not looked an out and out striker in any way, shape or form. Billy would have won us the Fulham game by half time if he had been on the pitch and got the same chances. McBurnie needs Deano and Keith Edwards coaching him in the art of finishing. But back to the formations being mentioned, I would go with a front two with Moose and Brewster given the chance and McGoldrick in behind in the ‘10’ position. Osborne has to come in at LWB for me and we do have to have a three in central midfield.
McBurnie will never, ever make a PL striker. He lacks pace and, whilst you can get away with that in the Championship

Well they’ve got that colossus of creative football Pulis. Allardyce to manage us would confirm that any semblance of decent football is dead in this City.

Now Enda Stevens is out for a while, what would be your proposed solution at right back?

Bloody hell how about Dave Bassett !!!
