The Solution

I would rest McBurnie, he’s had over a season and a quarter and not looked an out and out striker in any way, shape or form. Billy would have won us the Fulham game by half time if he had been on the pitch and got the same chances. McBurnie needs Deano and Keith Edwards coaching him in the art of finishing. But back to the formations being mentioned, I would go with a front two with Moose and Brewster given the chance and McGoldrick in behind in the ‘10’ position. Osborne has to come in at LWB for me and we do have to have a three in central midfield.

As much

As much as I agree we need to be more positive, in this league that kind of formation is a recipe for disaster. Mouse (especially) and Burke are unlikely to track back consistently and with Baldock and Osborne covering the wings Berge and Fleck would be completely overun in midfield by teams playing 3 central midfielders that are way better than they are.
Sorry to be so dismissive but IMHO that is tactically nieve

It's not as tactically naive as persisting with a system that clearly is no longer working. A system which relied on a versatile attacking LCB, whom we haven't replaced and which is now openly encouraging the vast majority of attacks against us to come down one flank, because we no longer have the personnel to defend against it.

Things need a shake up and this way, at least we can pose more of an attacking threat.

They must be watching the matches back so surely why cant they see McB is really leaden footed and not on his game at all ? Its like blind loyalty or something.

McBurnie's confidence is shot. At one point yesterday the West Brom defender appeared to be trying to gee him up after his miss. in the last two games he appears to have tried to just hammer the ball instead of trying to place it.

Personal abuse is against forum rules, infraction given.
You’re talking utter bollocks. He’s the best manager? Fuck off. Shite loads of managers have achieved a double promotion within 2 seasons, CW didn’t even manage that. We were the biggest club in L1, the fact we didn’t get promoted sooner was a disgrace. We had a huge budget, he overhauled the full squad, not any L1 club could do that. He’s now spent £100M in the PL and we look fucking pathetic. So, clearly, he’s not the best manager, and by statistics, he’s the worst in the PL.
No fella you are talking utter bollocks! See what I did there? The fact you are dumbing down his achievements shows you for what you are! Your posts on here since you joined have the same tone so you are a pig, someone on the wind up or and extremely sad fucker! The majority don’t give a shit which one it is you’re boring the life out of everyone!
Now either fuck off back to owlstalk or give it a rest for a couple of days! We all know you want Wilder out stop hijacking every thread with your poison! Prick!

The classic, if you’re not happy fuck off to Hillsborough. Well, we’re bottom of the league with 1 point of of 30, and I can guarantee, nobody is happy.

We know you’re just fishing for a few likes with the classic “Pork” posts. Grow up. Clown.

Fishing for likes or attention seeking! Like I said you can’t really defend your post history and you haven’t even tried to! Nobody is happy who said they were? Like I said nobody gives a shit what your motive is but I think we can all see there is one!

I think McB needs ... ‘a rest’
Like the boys on the podcast touched on... it doesn’t matter if you’re playing for the working men’s on the village rec or for Barca at the Nou... if you’re a striker and haven’t scored in 10... then you get dropped! We need to change things up top.
Burke should get a run of games. He’s looked dangerous in every game he’s played. Burke and Brewster/Mousett. Raw pace and drive!
Shit, I meant McG. The last thing I’d do is play McB at the moment. He needs to be put in a room containing a banjo and a cow. When he can hit the arse with the banjo he can come out and play with his teammates.

The solution is 3-4-3 for the rest of the season. We looked quite dangerous in that formation yesterday

Get your pace up top and just go for it. If we keep creating chances like we did yesterday, they will start going in.

Take McB out of the firing line for a bit, and have McG and Sharp as back up attackers.

It's as good as anything we have at the moment.
I like that team, although Brewster has looked his best coming in from out wide. I suppose those 3 could rotate but I wonder how well it would work without McBurnie in there. I agree he probably needs a break now though despite imo playing well he is not hitting his shots with any degree of confidence.

He’s absolutely shot for me. Playing him is doing him no favours at all... plus we play hoofball too so it’s effecting the rest of the team in that way also!
I’ve always tried to remain positive about him. The performance last season against Brighton was a glimpse of his ability. But he’s been pretty woeful since then.
Maybe he’ll come good in time. But he’s not the answer right now. His shot in the 2nd half yesterday was one of man with zero confidence... such a safe and tame effort... more hopeful than anything!

I haven’t attempted to “defend” my post history because I speak my mind, whether you like it or not, it’s getting said. So, either put me on mute, give me some debate, or shut the fuck up whining like a little girl.

This is the point of a forum, if you can’t accept other people’s opinions, you shouldn’t be on here.

This. Absolutely this. We saw Brewster take the game by the scruff of the neck more, in glimpses.

The solution is get rid of CW. Football is not about sentiment. He’s devoid of any new ideas, 1 point out of 30 this season. No other PL club would keep a manager with that record. Unfortunately his time here is up. The longer CW stays the longer this poor form will continue.

Wanker post

...We could try something different though or just play the same and keep losing 1-0 every week. Least we might score with that formation.
It’s fine margins DB, I’m not for a minute suggesting we have played well this season but we could easily be on 7-10 points now. The players haven’t become garbage overnight but some of them looked like rabbits in the headlights last night, confidence is rock bottom and with every game that slips away it erodes further and it will do until we pick up a win. We’re bottom on one point due to poor finishing and making far too many errors at the back. I’m not sure introducing a new formation will help until we start doing the basics properly.

I've been banging on about Burke,Brews and Moose upfront together to anybody who'll listen for ages.
Go down with a bang!!

I didn't say don't change it, but that system would see us completely overun in the centre. I would be more inclined to try 4-4-2 or 4-1-3-2 with pace of Burke, Mouse or Brewster up top

Absolutely spot on suggestion Stretch, pace will always cause problems. We saw enough of the front three you suggest to show that we would cause problems with them. I’d go as far as to say that I’d have Billy on the bench as any two of those three would be likely to play him in. Billy hasn’t had a chance this season because he’s been asked to lead the line as a long ball target man and that isn’t his game.

You’ve got no argument, so you bring out the “Pork” posts. Like a fucking kid. Grow up.
"I know I'm right "' and "You're talking shit " in your earlier post seems to indicate that tolerance of other people's views isn't your strong point. This would also seem to indicate a lack of maturity on your part. Just think about what you're posting. Challenge the post, not the poster.

I’ll debate other than posting shite tell me why wilder should go, tell me who you would replace him with and why and tell me what any such new manager would do with our current squad.

Have you been in a coma for the last 4 years ?

It’s the stubbornness for me. For the last 4yrs I’ve been revelling in the fact that we’ve been an absolute breath of fresh air! The ability to overturn any team in our path with a style of football the likes have never been seen before!
This is why I just don’t understand what is happening right now. I was sure that CWAK were tactical geniuses that out thought the opposition. But good God almighty we are so predictable right now! We are becoming a bit of a laughing stock I’m afraid.
For me there are obvious changes that could be made. Without changing the formation... Osborn, played a blinder at LWB against Liverpool. He’s not been seen since!
Burke, has looked our most influential attacking player. Barely gets a game!
McB, absolutely shot of all confidence and doesn’t look like scoring (and he’s had some good chances) plays every game??
JOC out... we’ve now tried Stevens, Robinson, Ampadu and Bryan in this position... that suggests to me that we don’t have a LCB... so why aren’t we changing it? At least bring some consistency to the team and stick with someone!

I've said this on various threads as it sorts the problem of having to use overlapping CB's that we just have the option for down the left anymore.

Not quite sure it's CW's fault we somehow failed to score any of the 22 chances we had last night but hey ho.

I get football is a results business but this season has been such fine margins shown by the fact, barring Chelsea, there hasn't been more than 1 goal difference in any of the games.

The problem with Big Sam is that he's just an upgraded version of Blackwell. He'll get results and would possibly keep us up but it'll be horrible to watch. Just look at how he's viewed by the fans of all the clubs he's had since Bolton.

I may be in the minority here but I don't want to survive at all costs if the football is terrible as I hated the Blackwell full season even though we nearly went up.
