In keeping with the self congratulatory mood, here is a random post from a Manchester City forum

Even Man City fans think this is the way football should be played

Your not a Wednesdayite then Chris! 🤣 🤣 🤣 ;)

Hmm... Let me check. Nope. Not a drop of blue blood.
It's just I can't help wishing sometimes that we had at least one player good enough to get in their team. :shark:

firstly congrats, and just think about how much pleasure you will get by regaining stories of Madkins, Hammond, Salmon and David Fukin Weir

Kopcat in 2035 = “It’s easy now been a Blade, but it’s not always been signing the worlds best players and champions league grandson.....”

Heard someone asking CW on 5 Live prior to the game if he had to "pinch himself" at what was happening.
Is it me, or is this as stupid an expression as exists in the language? Has anyone EVER actually "pinched themselves" because something out of the ordinary has happened?
If we take the lead at the Etihad, will the away end simply be awash with cries of anguish as we ask the bloke next to us to "pinch me"?

Given the recent performances of the Right Honourable John Fleck ... I believe the correct phrase is actually “Pinchy me”. 😁

Playing Manchester United on a winter's evening at Bramall Lane. Full house. Chasing the game and on comes a sub to save the day.

Should make it into a movie and call it 'When Saturday Comes'.

Hope this is readable, can’t expand it any more, a problem I’ve had all my adult life....😀

There's a huge difference between a quality sports journalist like Winter and that mob at the Mail who've spent time to-day suggesting West Sham are after CW. Excellent article but then again most of his usually are.

Agree ChrisBlade . A lot of the PL is stale and I find myself turning off MoTD when crap like Bournemouth, Watford, Palace and Burnley come on. Not necessarily the way they play, but who cares?

In the fullness of time, some may realise what CW/AK are building here - especially satisfying by realising that Wednesday are standing still. A couple of observations from yesterday:

Solskjær is building his own version of 'Busby Babes' at OT and deserves more time. By the end of this season, they'll be in the top six. He's got rid of dross like Smalling and injected some cracking youth into the team - but Phil Jones needs to go. Maguire? A (very) poor man's van Dijk, but they're stuck with him.

The 90th minute? I went from sheer ecstasy with our equaliser to the utter shit that is VAR. If that goal had been disallowed, I think I'd have walked away from football, never to return.
Me too I said at the time if they disallow that goal for some obscure reason I would walk out of the lane never to return, what me and a lot more where I sit can't get our heads round is why was that goal the only one to go to a VAR check???

Manchester United have been doing those sort of turn arounds for decades one reason why they are one of the top European clubs even if they are not at their best at the moment. We just can't compete with the amount of money they can throw at a team which makes it all the more remarkable that we battered them for 80% of the game. Their first shot on target came in the 28th minute, their defence especially Jones were dreadfull and Maguire couldn't get near Mousset apart from on one occasion hugging him in the penalty box (no VAR check for that one). Slabhead was usually in the right place but his lack of pace really showed him up I do think Egan is a better defender overall.

Strange to go home from the lane feeling disappointed we haven't beaten Man U or got something from the current European champions but at the same time full of pride in our team.

You mean, one half as good as Bannan!??

I am a pessimist about United, and can still foresee plenty of ways in which it can all go wrong. But even after ManU scored their 3rd goal, I was still feeling good, because of the way we had played for most of the game. Every game so far has been competitive (except Burnley!), and the sense that we belong in this league did not disappear even when we went 3-2 down. And then for the team to fight back again (goal made by one scapegoat sub and scored by another), and for the footballing gods to give us a break (VAR), you have to think something good may be happening. That was one of the great nights (afternoons? Evenings?) at the Lane.

We are "hostile" in every sense of the word.

Not a nice place for any team to visit anymore. Someone told me on the way in, that 4 years this week we lost 4-2 to Shrewsbury Town in a truly terrible performance.

Unbelievable transformation from that night.

According to Transfermarkt our starting line up for yesterday's game is worth around £33 million (an average of £3 million per player). In comparison, Man United's starting line up was worth £396 million in total. On average £36 million per player - more than our entire team! We outplayed them. Wilder is performing miracles!

Agree Hodgy, great game and 2 scape goats combined to get the equaliser .
After what Wilder has achieved maybe more fans should accept what he says ( he's happy with the progress they've made )
It's too easy to slate players when they dont hit the ground running.
I wonder how some fans would have reacted if the season had started poorly.
We are just punters leave it to CWAK the professionals.
We have a great opportunity to kick on here if the prince backs CWAK.

VAR will get worse and worse. Raheem Sterling had a 'goal' disallowed last Sunday when he wasn't even level. Because the goal wouldn't have affected the result, VAR escaped scrutiny.

But when we get to the 'business end' of the season, teams will be relegated, managers sacked and fortunes lost as a result of VAR. It's time managers and pundits got off the fence and demanded an end to this VAR farce. Football worked (almost) perfectly well up to this season, but now discussion about VAR decisions outweighs talk about the actual match. This is plainly wrong.

At best, it's an attempt to inject some 'showbiz pizzaz' into football in the same way that some versions of cricket now resemble rounders and even snooker has seen the shoulders of pockets 'rounded'. At worst, it's backhanders for the technology that's driving the current pig-headedness to force VAR onto us.

Comparisons with cricket, rugby, even tennins are futile because there's far too much money at stake in football to start fucking about with the rules on such a fundamental subject.

Or ‘When Sunday Comes’.

A Blades Classics Remade For the Age of Sky Tv production.

Excellent post and I would like to think it's how the the large majority of Blades' feel. These are happy days to be a Blade. Sunday was almost as good as it gets, although with Wilder in charge who knows how far we can go?
