We keep harping on about the players coming back from injury but which of these players do we expect to return to fitness and actually come in and do a job for us? Who would you sacrifice from the current selection in order to accommodate the return of this player and why?

Coutts
Wallace
Harris
Brayford
Flynn
Done

All of the above are at varying stages in recovery, for me I am eager to see both full backs Harris and Brayford return to first team action. Both would tighten things up at the back for us I feel and are better than anything that we have had in full back positions this season. I know our back four have leaked goals and I would like to see another CB come into the club however I do think that having these two back would improve and steady the central partnership as well. Done is another one for me, I would like to see him partner Billy Sharp up top as I think they would work extremely well together. Obviously we have the central midfield issues but I don't think this is an issue that can be solved internally, I really think we should be looking to bring somebody into the club.

Brayford at RB
Harris at LB
Done at ST

All of a sudden the team gets that bit better.

Not bothered about the rest. They just get injured again even when they do return from injury. And Flynn just isn't good enough.

Still need a CB and a CM to arrive in the loan market as well.

Coutts - on to bench; preferred to Scougall
Wallace - straight into starting XI; preferred to Reed/Basham
Harris - fighting for LB spot with Freeman; preferred to McEveley
Brayford - straight in at RB, with Freeman moved to LB and Harris challenging for his position
Flynn - on the bench instead of Alcock; acts as cover for Brayford and attacking option
Done - straight into starting XI; either up top with Billy or wide right of a front 3 - McNulty/Higdon drop down pecking order

Kennedy too.

All of Kennedy, Coutts/Wallace, Brayford, Done, Harris and maybe even Flynn should be in the first XI.

Howard
Freeman - Brayford - Edgar/Kennedy - Harris
Basham - Baxter - Wallace/Coutts
Done - Sharp - Che

I put Kennedy and Wallace as part of a 2 choice as I don't think they're going to stay fit for long periods so they'll be rotated. That side is comfortably good enough for promotion when all fit and firing.

Coutts is playing for the U21s tonight apparently so he must be nearing fitness.

Chris Morgan was a prime example of supporters hoping a player would come back and rescue our season. Players coming back from long term injuries invariably encounter fitness problems and we have more than our fair share at present. If they do come back A1 great but can the club take the risk and hope, games will slip away very quickly.

Brayford, Harris and Done for me would come straight into the starting line up. Done’s position is debatable depending on the system but he has something to offer either wide or up front with one of Sammon, Adams or JCR making way.

Freeman provides competition and cover for both fullbacks and McEveley is pushed down the pecking order.
Flynn offers cover at RB and RM.

Coutts is cover for CM but given Wallace’s issues and Baxter and Reed’s inconsistency, depending on how fit he gets, might push for a starting place- time will tell.

Wallace would come straight in ahead of Baxter or Reed but doesn’t look likely to ever be fit enough.

Kennedy could displace Collins if he could stay fit but he can’t so he won’t.

But having Flynn, Brayford, Harris, Done and Coutts at our disposal can only improve our options and might mean we can move one or 2 like Alcock and Higdon on in January.
