The plan as always is to leave a legacy

Why's the level of support relevant? He's had success at every club regardless of size.
It doesn’t, I’m just interested to see how he gets on as they’re a team that haven’t really done anything for years.

it’s different to when he took over us as we shouldn’t have been in L1 however Boro are probably a championship club.

What has the club derived from 2 years in the PL ?
A clear corporate structure with someone scrutinising the CEO's performance ?
A better scouting system despite having Van Winkel in place ? What does he actually do ?
Did we waste time chasing foreign players who couldn't get VISAs ?
A better training ground or any prospect of one now that money is tight ?
Have we paid off the mortgage on the assets (for which we paid top dollar to Kevin because at that time we were a PL club) ?
Has the hotel opened ?
Any improvement to the squad of players ? (I accept that injuries to Berge & JoC are bad luck)
Have any of the facilities at the back of the Kop improved since 1992 ?
Have we managed to get the 2 parcels of land at the back of the Kop off Kevin ?
Have we still got posts on the Kop ?
Tell me one aspect of the club that has improved in any meaningful way since we had an injection of c£250m.
My Grandma fed a family of 5 in the 1930s on no money , but a damn sight more ingenuity than has been shown by those running my beloved club.

Do you think we were a league 1 club? A club our size had no right being there, Sunderland / Wednesday are the same. We were there because of bad management over a long period of time.

I'm not sure why you're taking any negativity out of my post, I think Wilder will do well at M'boro.
My point is that you seem fixated with the size of a club. We certainly deserved to be in league 1, unquestionably, as do Sunderland and Wednesday.

No I don’t at all 😂. I literally don’t care. I’m just intrigued how he’ll get on as we all are at a club that’s been mid table for quite a while. Yes you could argue the same was for us, Northampton, Oxford etc. I just felt we didn’t deserve to be in L1 for as long as we were. Chill UTB 👍🏻

Foderingham
A figure of ridicule at almost every club he’s been at.

Lowe
Ushered out the door quicker than he came through it.

Stevens
A player who came up through the divisions as part of the journey. No longer up to it.

Egan
The only fit centre-half left from the Wilder era. A shadow of himself without O’Connell.

Robinson
Abysmal.

Bogle
A bog-standard Championship right-back who clearly isn’t up to it this season.

Baldock
Again, part of the journey. But just loves to complicate everything he does and a headless chicken in the opposition half.

O’Connell
Played through injury - one which could possibly end his career. No sign of being close to a return.

Basham
The only one who can still hold his head high. But without time on his side.

Osborn
Jack of all trades. Master of none.

Norwood
The most ‘confidence player’ I’ve ever seen. Awful without it. Lacks a midfield presence EVERY midfielder should have.

Fleck
Absolutely no idea what’s happened to him but he’s dog shit.

Freeman
What an outstanding £4m capture that was.

Berge
A £20m superstar who can’t stay fit but is a really nice lad, apparently.

Brewster
A £20m striker who couldn’t score in a brothel.

McBurnie
A £20m striker who looks like he won a competition.

Mousset
A £10m striker who can’t get close to 10 games without injury.

McGoldrick
A star of the journey who Wilder got the best out of. Even at his best he was turd in front of goal. Now looks like the player Ipswich released but 5 years older.

Burke
Looks like he lost a competition and turned up anyway.

Sharp
A club legend who, like Basham, can hold his head high and still offerBut can’t be far off retiring.

That’s some legacy, Chrissy.
Gave me my best times watching the blades got a massive tune out of the same group of players that this clown is now struggling with. Thanks for the legacy Chrissy

We weren’t 9th in the PL when he left - we were rock bottom, relegation-bound and one of the worst teams in PL history. Or do you get to choose when his legacy ended?
I get to choose what Wilder’s legacy is in my own mind, as far as I’m concerned the man took us on an incredible journey - yes it ended awfully but for me the legacy is that journey. You can be pedantic and talk about how legacy is what’s left at the end but then we were also relegated with Bassett and he seems to be fairly fondly remembered (understatement obviously).
I don’t think you understand what legacy means…sure that’s an achievement but not a legacy.
Legacy can mean all sorts of things, as I said above you could argue it’s what Wilder left us with, but that to me is not his legacy, to me his legacy is what he will be remembered for - to that end I think my point is still valid.

You can argue all day about the definition of the word. What isn’t open to interpretation is what CW was referring to when he repeatedly mentioned “leaving a legacy”.

He gave me my best times as a Blade. And I doubt it’ll be topped. That doesn’t mean I will indefinitely stick up for the guy in everything he does. “Leaving a legacy” and what he meant by that were his words, not mine. The opening post only discusses both his quote and the state of the club when he walked out.

And so what?

What’s your legacy pal?

55th in the league to 9th is his good bit left when we were 20th

whats unbelieveable is so many players who looked prem players in 19 20 season
looked like league one players in 20 21
Probably the change came after signing lucrative contracts

You completely missed the point with your kneejerk defence of the man.

That he took us to 9th in the Premier League from 11th in League 1 is indisputable.

Legacy is nothing to do with that journey, but how he set us up for life thereafter.

The reality is as the opening poster states.
He left us 20th in the PL, short on cash with a poorly assembled squad, attuned only to one way of playing... as a result, we're now at the bottom end of the division below. That is his legacy. Regardless of the fun ride before it.
To be a legend you have to finish the job he walked out on us like a whimpering wreck.
I can only equate him to Warnock tops doesn’t compare to Bassett or Harris.
Chris sorry pal you didn’t finish the job and you’ve left us in a sorry state thanks

If Rammers had played like this for us though, then Wilder might still be in a job. o_O

It’s just a topic on a forum mate. Like the thousands of others. If it’s of no interest to you then off is the general direction in which you should fuck.
Ok.
Perhaps you could stop snivelling like a baby and whining about the past while I fuck off.

The same way Warnock did and Basset before him.

If you think that SUFC are going to be top 6 contenders for decades you need a new sport.

I don't. Nor did I say that.

Also, I don't think Warnock left us in a mess. He was given nothing in the PL and made a good fist of it in the circumstances.
Robson was given the pot of gold and spunked it.

Bassett a bit before my time at 30.
