We sell players that we can't afford to clubs that can afford.
We buy players from clubs that can't afford that we can afford.....simples!

Except we have clueless fc ukers handling buying/selling/contracts.
Fingers crossed this now comes under Sir Clevor Trevors remit.

Beighton still posting all your hopes on Trev I see ;)

Not looking good is it? Killa is going to be replaced by a Plymouth/Blackpool player. Looks like Hendo could be on his way to be replaced by Cresswell, Ward is attracting attention but we've got Little or Reid to replace him.

Never mind, when was the last time we had a 'pleasing' transfer window?

Yes ............ he'll sort us out one way or another, its clear McCabe either can't or wont invest in the Blades without new investors/owners i'm afraid the future looks bleak. This JTW will tell us more.

Lets hope !

Anyone remember when football wasn't about buying the best team? Transfer windows weren't important. You got a settled team, trained them and worked hard.

Anyone? :-)

There isn't a fucking swear filter on here, BTW Beightonblade ;-)

It's because he posts everything here and on Blades Mad and they do have the filter.

I still maintain that the deals for both Kyles was a great one for the club.
The players wanted to go and we got £8 Million upfront for two players on of whom had only played 5 games, the other 40 odd.

Neither have made there way into the first team squad and I would suspect both will be available for loan. I would even suggest that Walker will probably be available for transfer in the next 18 months for less than we got for him.
Then again thanks to the deal if he goes for more we get a percentage anyway.

The only good thing that came from their sale is that add that to the £15mill Tevez money that we reported, yet haven't actually got, prevented us from showing a £12million loss.

Fuck me, we've got some selling to do this time around to balance the books. The entire squad's barely worth £12mill as it stands.

The £8m from the Kyles wasn't included in the last year's accounts so we do have an £8m start next time around.
I'd hazard a guess that next year's season ticket sales will suggest we'll more than need it.

Plus we reduced our debt to the banks last year to £2 Million.

One of the accountants will fill in the gaps, wasn't that about £10 Million before.

Len,

Next years season ticket sales? WTF there has been no evidence of season ticket sales dropping.

They won't be back in similar numbers to watch the tripe that's generally served up next year.
There's a dead atmosphere about the Lane at the moment which will have its effect. There's no sense of exciting football, any half decent young player will be sold, it's a soulless experience.
That more than anything will hit sales - there's so little joy to watching the Blades.
And I don't think the football club debt matters one jot - we still owe multi-millions as a business. Pretending the football club's in great shape might only help if there's someone mad enough to come along and just invest in that - otherwise it means sod all.

Could be worse len. A City fan I know pines for the old days when going to a match was as much for a grin as for experiencing good football. The latter was a just a bonus if it came to pass.

All this po-faced 6-0-6 style moaning and dullard punditory isn't healthy. I blame David Mellor. And Thatcher.

Haven't you been claiming falls in season ticket number for the last few years?
I'm sure it was you along with your why aren't we advertising in the paper rants.
Then again maybe it was that other Len who moaned about us signing Ward.

I reckon we'll top 19,000 next season.

Fill in the gaps?

It's more than a bloody gap if you think we only owe the bank £2m. It can be safely said that we owe more than £2m to the bank.

I am genuinely interested Bob why you persist in thinking that the financial situation is rosy? Every now and again you come out with stuff like this. No problem at all in believing that to be the case and I aint pretending to fully understand the situation but plenty of people as well as me are worried that we have huge debts on properties that are very probably depreciating in capital and rental value. I'm afraid I cannot understand where you get your thinking from that we are in a decent situation. McCabe has gambled with this property link and for me it has all gone horribly wrong.

Good point JD. The deterioration in football fans, the nouveau/plastic culture, can be directly correlated to Danny Baker leaving 606 and the buck-toothed Thatcher puppet taking over!

I hate the 606 stuff, it's dreadful when it used to be excellent when Danny Baker first did it.
But I don't blame 606 for how we play football and I'll be amazed if it doesn't have a significant effect on season ticket sales and crowds next season.
You can't keep carrying on selling your best players, becoming a poorer team and expect it to have no effect.
A bunch of loanees with no real connection to the club will be dragged in during January and we'll stumble on but there's nothing but a sense of same old, same old at the moment.
The penny even seems to have dropped with Beighton.

:D

the penny dropped wi me when we sold TC....had me doubts when Mick Jones was sold but the sale of TC convinced me.

Its been the same ever since with or without McCabe...... same owd !

AMBITION MY ARSE !

We reduced our football debt to £2 Million not total debt.

Also I've not really said the financial situation is rosey, there aren't many companies who are in that situation in the current climate. However the football debt is minimal, the total debt is offset mainly against the hotel which has a fixed income to us and our property portfolio should only increase in value over the next few years.

Last year our assets far outstripped our total debt this despite much of our assets being in property which due to the global climate was valued at a low level.

Over the next few years this can only increase.

So things are tight at the minute, but any football debt to banks is minimal, and the debt on the hotel and property portfolio is well under control.
I just don't see the dark clouds on the horrizon, just not much money to spend right now is all.

Another point worth mentioning is when the league brings in the threadholds on % of wages to turnover we should be in a better position than most due to these outside interests.

Bob,

One of my season tickets has been unused for most matches this season. A lot of people have had enough of the subsitute for football on offer at BDTBL.

I'm quite certain that season ticket sales will fall significantly next season unless things improve dramatically. It's towards the top of the long list of reasons why Blacko the Clown must go.

My season ticket has been mostly unused this season apart from when I go.

The main reason is that the lads that used to borrow it have their own season tickets now or are under the thumb

Some on here don't like dealing in facts and common sense,it doesn't suit their Blackwell and McCabe out agendas(or fit in to how well they are doing on Football Manager)
