Should they take some of the blame?

We backed out of deals for,

Maupay
Watkins
Cash

Can't help but think of we had those 3 in the bag we'd be strides above our current level.
Absolutely not they’ve given Wilder more than enough money to at least win a single game of premier league football and let’s not forget it was “our best ever transfer window”.

You can aportion blame how you like between the players and Wilder but I don’t think the board should be brought into this. We don’t create anything so I doubt Watkins would score too many.

To me it comes down to players underperforming slightly and Wilder playing the same system over and over again which oppositions are more than comfortable playing against with no plan b.

Not sure that's fair. We got blown out the water wages wise! We have a budget and would be very unwise to stray far from it. Especially for players that at the time were unproven at prem level. All been good with hindsight.

They can’t be blamed for being priced out of players. If you haven’t got the cash then you can’t spend it.
My complaint would be if we can’t afford top of the table championship players then pick a different league and get the scouting network set up to find a similar level player for what you can afford. Or just give money to Jack Rodwell.

I don’t know if they are to blame as such but they clearly don’t have the funds needed to sustain PL football.

Wilder should still have done much better with the money he was given but our wage structure is far too low at PL level.

Not going to blame a guy for not being a billionaire...because that's what most in this league are.

But yes it's the biggest issue at the club.

none of these are midfielder or a left centreback - so we would be exactly where we are.

but people would be complaining we hadn’t bought Brewster

But it's risk Vs reward, if you have the lowest budget in the league do you expect to somehow compete with at least 3 or more teams?

If we had brought in the right players we would not be in the situation we are in now.
For some reason we didn't.
It beats me then again it is United who are getting beaten week in week out.
Mystifying?

Antonee Robinson would walk into our side as well and make us so much better. Wishing we had signed the Turkish goalie rather than Rammers.

Always poor old Sheffield United, always on a budget, don’t want to break the bank, no ambition and no fucking bollocks. This ethos has run through the club since day one of 1889. Yet we give £20 to £30k a week new contracts on has beens. We will never change, the club has always been run by incompetent fools who splurge any money we’ve ever had on second rate fucking dross. I honestly wonder how they’ve become successful in business, I wouldn’t trust them to run a whelk barrow.

..... or even an ill barrow.

It's not his fault he's not a billionaire like the other owners.

We sign them on 60k contacts we would be screwed if we went down last year.
I didn’t say it was his fault? And I’m not saying sign anyone on £60k contracts... just that the wage situation should be taken into consideration when dissecting the current plight.

Nothing to do with the owners. It's just not happening for us this season. Oh well it is what it Is. I'm done with saying he's shit or that's shit.....I blame fucking Tevez

Yep, it was far wiser to stick rigidly to our budget and reap the fine rewards of that approach, wasn’t it.

No don't think you can blame the board. Wilder has publicly said its his preference to sign non-foreign players which limits him to the championship/unwanted premier league players.

He has made a list of positions he wants to improve and a list of players for those positions.

Ok we may not get number 1 on the list but the players we sign are still from Wilders list.

The board wanted to sign Cakir, but Wilder wanted Ramsdale for instance.. the rest is history.

I just don't agree. We have spent a lot of money and gone backwards.
if we hadn't spent anything with the hope we could perform as well this season with the same players we had from last year i could understand the argument that it is typical Sheffield United.....but we have spent a bloody fortune on piss poor players!
OK, we get priced out on certain players but overall we are shit because of the recruitment and lack of nous from the management.
