As I see it.

Drop Clarke and this anti football method we are employing with him in the team.

Shore up the spine with 4:3:3

Midfield Bash Fleck Coutts

Attack Spark Sharp Done.

Yes we lose width. My answer to that is bollocks to width.

Back to basics.

Buy a dominant centre half, leader, what we've been lacking for over 2 years, a proper midfield general and we've got the effective target man already in Clarke, that's the spine sorted. A decent right back is now required (they should have levered McFadzean as part of the Brayford deal, or no deal). And FFS play Done, Sharp, McNulty, whoever alongside Clarke, not 10-20 yards back playing this mythical number 10 role,

What width Dresso is more like a grass strip, can't fit three abreast down it

Warnock and Ched.

Simple!

That boats sailed, couldn't even get that right. Hung on until it was safe to hang on then let go. This guys decision making leaves a lot to be desired.

I agree 100%.

We are losing the midfield battle. When you add to it's obvious that sharp and Clarke isn't a workable partnership, you can see why we aren't scoring.

It's harsh on Clarke as he's been the one forward that's done "ok" but he should be a plan B. if we need to change things in a game. We've taken our 20 goal striker from last year and decided not to play to his strengths.

It's the defence - it's always been the defence (since we played haliax in pre-season) and it always will be the defence and it will remain that way until 3 or possibly 4 are changed.

The rest of the team then might have a chance.

So change 4/5 in the defence?

Or 1 up top ?

See where I am going ??

The defence is useless - change RB, Wilson and Hussey - they are L1 average footballers and we have got what we bought.

Pathetic decision to buy both players - absolutely no history of anything but average - that's why Edwards lambasted the defence when he eventually arrived.

They are crap and we will be relegated unless 3 are changed. O'Connell might be good enough with a Jake Wright type to talk him through games.

Don't concede, don't lose - quite simple.

I'm glad you can see a way out mate! :)

Bollocks to width Dronnie? at home that's the problem.

Narrowing the pitch! maybe it's the first pitch he's ever been able to ask to narrow. Fucking tactical genius. Gerrit forward at pace but compress the space to move it into so there's more chance of it being blocked out quicker. Play with two fullbacks allegedly "bombing on", but no space to move into to "bomb on" cos THERE ISNT ANY FUCKIN SPACE.

Is it me, or is it like talking to our lass about spatial awareness. A player required to cover 8 yards to make a tackle is going to do it quicker than a player required to cover 12 yards to make a tackle. An attacker with 12 yards to move into rather than 8 yards has 4 more yards to play with before getting closed down and therefore more time to get away.

Can some fucking Bergen Blade style tactical genius, who unlike me only played Isthmian and Northern Counties tell me what advantage there is to narrowing the pitch?

As for performances away, well I am sorry but Done isn't a wide man. In fact we ain't got one cos Duffy isn't working yet.

How do these guys get jobs as managers?

Completely agree. Think Clarke was a terrible signing, not at all what we need and I hope I'm wrong but I don't think we'll do a great deal while he's up top.

Kinda answering your own question ?

You advocate width and then concede we have no wide players ?

Which emphasises my point even more, don't ya think ??

We need a nasty ugly brutal motherfucker at centre half who isn't afraid to bollock team mates when required and who will command dressing room respect

He appeared to have signed two,one being Duffy as a true "winger" and Hussey being a "wing back". Not worked. If his object was to use the wings to get down the side, round the back and whip the crosses in, then why narrow the pitch? Does it save on grass seed and UV lighting?

I have no idea why when this club has a centre forward over 6 feet tall it automatically means fucking hoofball

Are they all that thick ?

Wilder's plan was to play a narrow style with no out and out wingers. Done has been playing "wide" to try and provide goals, not crosses. Wilder wanted him to use his stamina and energy to get into the box and get on the end of things. Duffy was signed for his skill, creativity and clever play in and around the box, having shown a good ability to pick out targets in the box, despite not being a pacey hug-the-touchline-winger with outstanding pace. Scougall has been played wide for his ability to cut inside and pop up in pockets of space between the lines, creating things with movement and neat play, as well as being fit enough to get into the box and score goals, which he did today.

In Wilder's original formation crosses and width was to be provided by the full backs, and as these crosses would often come from deeper, there may be a slight advantage in them not coming from too wide, in addition to from deep, i.e. a narrow pitch may reduce the length required from the crosses, which could increase accuracy, possibly.

There are disadvantages as well, and opposition teams who scores first against us will no doubt be happy with a narrow pitch as they drop deeper to defend their lead. But the original plan probably didn't include the opposition scoring first too often...

Especially as we've narrowed the pitch.

Thanks Bergen. Shit plan, apart from Scougall.
