Fact is we've assembled our squad on a budget and we've done it without an international scouting team of any significance. We've recruited incredibly well from the pool we've had to choose from. Given that, of the team against Stoke on the final day, JOC, Basham, Fleck, Sharp, and Duffy, were all League One signings, is it any surprise we don't have a team full of fancy foreign names?
As for teams rolling us over in the Prem, it's an easy prediction. Since Wilder's run started everyone has told us that it won't last. Sheffield United won't keep up this form all season, Bolton and Scunthorpe are better sides. Sheffield United won't realise how much the Championship has improved, no way they'll survive without spending big. Sheffield United's first season was just momentum and now they're out of steam. Sheffield United don't have the quality to compete with Leeds, WBA, or Norwich. Sheffield United have bottled it by drawing to Millwall.
And now it's Sheffield United won't have a prayer in the Prem.
Whether it's next season we come down from the Prem failing to reach Derby's lowest points record, or whether it's in ten years time because we've failed to defend our Champions League trophy, eventually the "this won't last" prediction will be right, and there'll be some smug gits around to say "I told you so". So fucking what? Keep predicting failure and eventually you'll get one on the money.
