Early days but apart from Evans being better than Lundstrum but not as good as Coutts I haven’t seen much to be impressed from them

Leonard has been completely anonymous in his outings,

Holmes, looks like Matty Done the second.

Wilson, big time Charlie who seems to want to play for himself and not the team the total opposite of what we we would term a Wilder Player.

The standout players today were our tried and trusted players of the last 24 months Billy, Duffy, Fleck, Basham.

Holmes I assume will have to play against QPR now Fleck is out, it could already be a big game for him, Don’t know where Leonard fits in at all tbh.

Shame they are all Cup tied for next week The midfield three will have to Duffy, Lundstrum and god know who in that one.

Far too early to tell, particularly when you consider the quality of the opposition in the previous two games.

I think Leonard is more likely to replace Fleck than Holmes against QPR.

Maybe Slater will get a game against Leicester, cement a couple of their players.

Give them time, how long did Coutts take to get going, we all wanted him paying off 18 months ago.

Agree though about the frustration of them being cup tied. An Archaic rule in the modern game that needs scrapping. I’m actually surprised that rule is allowed under employment laws.

I think you have to give Leonard a little more time, I agree that he hasn’t been a stand out player but he’ll need to adjust and is still young enough. I think Holmes has looked pretty good personally and nothing like Matty Done

Leonard and Evans would be a Of a defensive set up at home to QPR. It would make more sense at Leicester but unfortunately cup tied.

Holmes was possibly the best player we had against Wolves.

Don't get the Wilson hate. Obviously really wants to play for Man U not Sheff U but he's decent. Can and will score and looked alright out wide against Wolves too. Just a selfish striker, which you need sometimes, might keep him available in the box.

Leonard was pretty important in the win against Norwich from what I remember.

Think our recruitment has been pretty good.

Plenty of time for them to show their worth aswell.

Did we really need Leonard, Holmes and Evans? On top of Lundstram, Fleck, Duffy, Brooks and Coutts to come back.

The problem Wilder has now is too many players in the same positions, I struggle to see how he is going to keep them all happy when they're not playing.

Funny how everyone who's watched Leonard during his career has said he's a box to box midfielder. For the early part of his career Fleck played as a defensive midfielder so I'm pretty sure Leonard is a closer replacement for Fleck, who still does a lot of defensive work, than Holmes, who's clearly suited to the number 10 role and is no more a central midfielder than Sharp is.

To be honest that was a bit like being the best singer in The Spice Girls we were never in it.

I saw it as "if he's this good against Wolves..." but yeah, that match any good performance was as much use as a cocktail umbrella in a typhoon haha

Only Evans and Wilson have really played. Evans looks a bit rash but looks as though he will be a good signing. Shockingly we've not managed to replace Paul Coutts by spending 750k.

Wilson has been poor for me but he's come at a time when the team has been playing poorly and not creating chances. It's too early to judge a young player.

Leonard has hardly played and it takes time to step up a level and change club/where he lives. Completely unfair to judge.

Ditto to Holmes. You need to give these players a chance.

Leonard might take a while but I think he'll be a regular starter by Xmas next year.

Jury's out on Wilson - don't think you can play him every game but he's got pace and quality. I can forgive some less good traits for that

Evans has been very good. Slotted right in

Holmes hasn't had a chance in a game where we are on top and playing well. I have no idea if he'll pay off but he was decent at Wolves.

On another note, Lunny looks huge. Hope it's not timber from not playing regularly

Is Evans enough of an improvement on Lundstram to warrant a big fee? For me we should have chucked our eggs in one basket and tried to sign a Coutts replacement rather than signing 3, none of which none are as good as Coutts. The combined fee for Evans, Leonard, Lundstram and Holmes can't be far off £2/3 million. An amount which Wilder claims is beyond our budget when talking about other team's signings?

Like a few have already said, we’ll not know how good some of these players will be for us till they get regular games under their belts ang they settle. Also, buying the one more expensive player still might not have come off or he could have been injured and we’d be back to square one. Look at the players the Pigs have signed.

I think we should judge players like we’d like to be judged ourselves in a new job; after they’ve had time to get used to the new routines and settled in. For all we know there could be a couple of players who turn out to be as good as Cootes (in their own way), and he took an age to settle.

I'm surprised that after such a satisfying win, this was what you choose to start a thread about.

Hang on, actually I'm not surprised

Very early days yet.

Reckon though it'll take a while for Leonard to fully integrate mainly because he offers something outside the existing system.

Evans seems to have slotted in seamlessly to that pre-defined Coutts role & he's been very self-confident& impressive. But, I don't know, Leonard's box-to-box style seems to break the mould (that we've got used to) a bit. In that sense, it's not just him finding his feet on stepping up a level & adapting his game, but also teammates getting to know his movement & runs too.

In a way, it seems similar with Holmes who seems more direct (in terms of running at defenders) than Duffy with all his finesse in the no. 10 role.

The great thing is that (like Brooks, & like Wilson with his odd movement) they do offer alternatives & different options, as well as depth/cover.

Always thought you was a helmet.

Are you a stalker or imposter?

You'd think that people would learn about judging players after seeing them for 3 minutes.

O'Connell started slowly and only then excelled.
Lundstram was rated as Hammonds shitter brother after 2 games - before starting to look steady and then decent.
Clark didn't get rave reviews because he was playing injured.

The guys are stepping up a league and they aren't all gonna come flying out of the box.

FWIW - I think evans looks like a really good player and is playing well in the coutts role.
Leonard has been steady but will take time and o think we will see him coming on to help us close games out
Holmes has only had limited chances so far and by all accounts did well against wolves

An interesting opening post which would have benefited from some judicious editing.

It should have ended just before the first "but".
