Deliberate handball is an offence anywhere, as is semi-accidental handball if the arm is in an "unnatural position". Accidental handball is not on offence wherever it happens EXCEPT when the hand it hits belongs to the player who scores the goal.

Natural position only must count for when you are defending, so a corner can have attackers with arms in air and if it hits them accidentally then no issue, but defending team must all have hands in natural position which means basically means arms down touching shorts or it is a penalty....Question is when the offence occurs in midfield in 50/50 challenges- what rule applies then - who id defending or attacking??????

You have not twig on yet have you. If a player from a wealthy club handles the ball in the penalty area and passes it to another player to score thats perfectly ok . If a player plays for a newly promoted club and handles the ball by accident and then passes to another player to score that goal won't count . Thats what happened to Berge and it did not count but it happened to us last night and it counted .Now do you understand ? When we do something the same it will be interesting to see what happens .

It all depends on who and which team handballs it.

We need all the help we can get and when we have very good players playing against us who don’t need any help with a wank ref we don’t stand a cat in hells chance. I highly doubt we’ll get a penalty for handball all season.

It's handball if the hand is in an unnatural position at a 75 degree angle whilst perpendicular to the body and on the edge of the seven-yard box during an attacking phase of play (but not in the 3rd or 7th phases).

It's not handball if the hand is extended from the body at a contrasting angle to the hip bone and the offence doesn't happen within a 45-mile radius of Watford Gap or during the 4th, 9th or 12th phases of attacking play.

In the old days wasn't it just simply ruled handball if it was hand to ball, and to be fair, it very rarely ever was.
This fucking about with stuff makes no sense.
I've yet to find anything that becomes better by being made more complicated or hard to follow. It just seems that the rules seem to be just altered by people in football who actually don't like the game.

But back to the Declan Rice handball a few years back against us, that seems very similar to the Newcastle one where Rice handballed the ball accidentally, has the rule changed where that goal is now ok?

Yes. Back then the rule was that if it hits the hand leading to a goal it is disallowed. Now it only counts if deliberate handball, or if it hits the hand of the goal scorer.

So because Rice provided an assist after the accidental handball, in today's rules the goal would stand. Just like Newcastle's goal yesterday

It just depends on who the ref is and what mood he is in .One ref will give it another won't .The game is becoming a farce . Even VAR is not consistant. Yesterday i saw a player having a right go at the ref wagging his finger at him and the ref ignored it .The week before McBurnie tells the ref about having his shirt pulled and gets sent off .

Whilst we’re at it, anyone know the speed limit of a slide tackle for it to become too forceful? JLT’s booking wasn’t high, he was in control, got the ball first but seemingly it was deemed too fast. The biggest problem we have in football is fuckwits constantly pissing about with the rules so that half the coaches/players don’t even know the rules. As for tackling, well the games gone soft. Robinson’s tackle yesterday was perfect from where I could see it. Yet the Newcastle player is slightly late and gets caught. Players go down for having a twisted sock these days. Boils my piss
