I think with any new ownership there’s a bit of trepidation and anxiety, especially with a consortium, but so far so good! Got to say well done to them for signing 7 (seven) players in the JTW. Time will tell if they’re any good and promotion remains the objective but for me, the future feels bright.

Especially when you look over in S6 and see how that club is run. We can thank our lucky stars we weren’t clobbered with someone like Derek Chancer, although, I bloody love him. Keep it up Derek! Superb job.

Early signs are good and exciting.

Wilders been backed and dice have been rolled, can't say fairer than that.

Be interesting to see how we approach next season if we are promoted and also if we are not (will they cut budget, sell best players or give it another go in summer).

Good first window. If holding is a upgrade on what we have it's a very good one.

Fair play to them. They’ve really backed Wiilder and the team.

Also pretty exciting that we’ve pulled a random Nigerian and Peruvian in to see what they’re all about. Be nice if we’ve unearthed the next Jay Jay okocha and claudio pizzaro

Early days still, but promising. The real test will come if we go up and then back down again. How will they manage that situation. Hopefully that won’t need answering and we can establish ourselves.

Has Chris Wilder threatened to quit yet? The last time we tried to sign unknown players from abroad he threatened to quit unless the club got his targets in (overrated and vey expensive British lads). I suspect the new contract softened the blow a bit, or maybe he has actually changed and wants to embrace change. Here’s hoping!

On the signing, boss Chris Wilder commented: "With the collaborative way we work with regards signings, the options available to the club under the new ownership allows us to cast our net further afield.

"I've spoken previously about how we are looking to be more data driven with some of our targets, and we have explored the use of this to find players which were previously not on our radar.

"Jefferson has been identified using this strategy, he's a young lad who we're keen to develop."

Wilder got the players he wanted apart from probably Dunne.

Plus he got a few extra.
From the summary posted by Houston_Blade (I think) on the FH Staton interview with Bettis it reads like Holding was Wilders pick, whether he was the first choice or if that was Dunne, it’s almost irrelevant as we won’t get every top target we go for. It’s important that the manager is getting the players he wants.

I know the likes of Choudhury was Wilders first choice for that position.

The summary of the Bettis interview also says that Cannon was not from Wilders list but a player identified and Wilder has concurred with it

I think this is just as important. Widening the list presented by the manager to include other players into the mix which could also be a good fit.

Prior to the Souttar injury and the midfield injury crisis I think everyone would’ve agreed that we were light up top so to strengthen the forward line as well as the entire side is very positive.

It’s too early to predict anything yet. They’ve done exactly what I predicted.
The doom and gloom merchants always predict the worse but don’t have a clue.
These are investors and want us to be back in the Premier league…so obviously they are going to help Wilder to give him a realistic chance.
The squad is below numbers, so failing to sign all these players would have been incompetent.

Also you do realise that Chansiri has spent more on transfers than what we have this season.

Regards ploughing money in the club he’s been an excellent owner.
The problem is, there’s no direction or long term plan, so much of his spending is being wasted.

Remember a Bettis interview on Radio Sheffield 2nor 3 year back.
When people criticised how we’re only spending 50 million per season in the Premier league when clubs like Brighton spend 100 million.
Bettis rightly explained that it’s the “player sales” that have a massive effect on expenditure.
Brighton has brought it 150 million in sales so could easily afford to spend 100 million on players.

This season we’ve sold Archer, Ousula, Bogle, Trusty, Slimane, Traore for £40 million and spent £16 million of it, of course we’re handing out big wages and loan fees with the excess. Compare this to SWFC who have sold £0.3 million and spent £3 million.

In fact in the last 10 years, incredibly Chansiri has hardly sold a player, no wonder his purchases are modest.
A major part of any club is the transfer business, which involved wheeling and dealing, sell players high and buy low.

Positive signs that he might actually be embracing a modern football culture and not one from the 1980s then. As I say I’m sure the new contract has helped a bit

Get the feeling there’s a storm coming. Owners have done well with backing and in their nativity put Wilder on a long contract.

However, I get the feeling from Wilders demeanour that he’s not ‘appy with owners ‘supplying’ players via tech driven data. Wilder will have his plan and his players, don’t see him being willing to integrate the Jeff and Chucky into his plans and style of play. Can see them getting sent straight out on loan to ‘assess’ them.

If Holding was ‘his’ first choice that fits with his previous strategy to have a project int squad, dangerous as a CB if it doesn’t work again. Yet, look at Ndiaye, came through from Borham Wood, fast nippy technical player that’s ripped it up to PL given a chance and we got blown out. Put that down to his time with us was with Hecky?

Will Wilder do it with Jeff and Chucky and change his possession based backwards sideways footy or freeze them / loan them out? If owners did champion Cannon and he flops then shame on them at £10m

Just got a horrible feeling the owners want to do it their way and Wilder wants to do it his. If we get promoted (which I don’t think we will in autos) then fair does but if we don’t then fur will fly between 2 very different football ideologies

Going to be a nail biter on and off the pitch but fingers crossed it all comes together.

So how many players is that in and out since the summer?

Amazing to think that with such a turnaround we are in an automatic place 👍

56 re..... "Just got a horrible feeling the owners want to do it their way and Wilder wants to do it his. If we get promoted (which I don’t think we will in autos) then fair does but if we don’t then fur will fly between 2 very different football ideologies"....if so why would they have tied him down to a long term contract unless you are claiming Wilder has pulled the wool over their eyes by appearing to be on board with the 'foreign strategy' when in fact he isn't?

The thing that impressed me the most was the way we conducted business.
Unlike some of our fans, the negotiating team refused to become emotional allowing themselves to be blackmailed and stayed focussed and businesslike.
Also we seemed to have option A, option B and option C, with Bettis always keeping Wilder in the loop.

We had a valuation on Jonjo Kenny and Jimmy Dunne.
Both are almost out of contract and become free agents however both selling clubs set an unreasonable high price.

We set a deadline and eventually walked away going for our 2nd choice.
Warnock once said he believes in fate, explaining that sometimes his 2nd or 3rd choice targets end up more successful that his 1st choice target.

Bettis pointed out in his interview on RS last night that the owners prioritised Wilder’s targets over anything and ensured that these came through the door first. The two young overseas players we always an afterthought with the view to the bigger picture.

I would have thought that this is an exciting proposition for wilder to be honest and he will look at it that way. Potential quality sat in the wings and potentially there are his disposal.

£40 million in player sales this season ?

Let's not start celebrating just yet.
Remember when Chancer first bought them, the York scene's and to be fair he did splash the cash at first.
Let's judge them in 5 years.

I think that Wilder and the new owners are striking the perfect balance - prioritising substantial investment in Wilders current way of working, based on the fact that he is generating results, while at the same time exploring new approaches that will be necessary if we wish to advance beyond our current yo-yo club status.
A hugely encouraging and exciting position to be in.
