I usually say as little as possible to people at work, but we had two Londoners in today, chatting about football. One was a Spurs fan, and the other QPR.

The Spurs fan left, and I got talking to the QPR fan. He was in his 50's, came across as a down to Earth bloke, he asked who I supported, I told him the Blades, so naturally he asked about Luke Freeman.

I said that he'd looked decent from what I'd seen, and that he played well in the ten minutes he got at the end of the Bournemouth game.

He said that his heart wasn't in at at QPR, and he said he was on 45k a week there, and 65k now!

I told him there was absolutely no fucking chance he was on that, and that I doubted he was on even half.

He was very matter of fact that the minimum weekly wage in the PL is 60k. I told him none of our players would be on close to that.

He then said he knew what Billy was on, and asked me what I reckoned. I said I've no real idea but I'd be surprised if he was on more than 25-30k.

He then told me that he knew exactly what he gets, 85k a week.

I asked him if he was being serious, and again 'yes, the minimum wage in the PL is 60k.'

Then he left.

🙃

Did this gentleman have traces of white powder round his nostrils?🙂

if all our players were on this minimum our wage bill this season will be £75 million on first team players alone
ondoubt someone will bring this thread to the fore when the real figures come out

I suspect it will be over £50m though. How times change, good luck to the lads, I hope they earn a big bonus at the end of the season!!

Oh, one more thing.

He mentioned another bloke who works at my place, and said that he as a decent bloke. I jokingly replied nah, he's a Wednesday fan.

He then said 'they definitely won't stay where they are, the only way is down for them.'

So that's Wednesday winning the title unfortunately.

A mate i play footy with told me he is mates with callum robinsons dad. Apparently he was on 8k at preston and on 25k now with us. If this is true then i would imagine we arent paying anyone over 30/35k.
mcburnie and sharp top earners i reckon

i dont doubt the minimum wage in premier league is 60,000 because majority of the starting 11s at the top 6 are on 150,000 minumum stars on 300,000. subs are on 75,000 - 100,000. but luke freeman might earn 85,000 but a month certainly not a week
I don’t doubt you don’t know the difference between minimum and average

I’m astounded that anyone can get ‘minimum’ and ‘average’ confused

I know for a fact Ched was on 20k a week.

In fairness he would have deserved it if he'd been allowed a full pre-season instead of being forced out to Fleetwood.

If you had posted using the CAPS LOCK function, I would have 100% believed your post, but as things stand I'm afraid I see this as only being 50/50, I need convincing. :)

It's amazing QPR ever found themselves in financial trouble haha 🤣

You cant hear bow bells from Shepherds Bush, but you're correct in your assumption that Londoners are full of shit, and self righteousness wankers to boot.
There’s 8m of us. I didn’t realise you’d met all of them

Was it Richard caddette?
If it was I believe him 100%
If it wasnt, then what a lying two hat he is.

Fair play to Wilder for sticking to his overlapping centre backs in the Prem. I’m telling you, the bloke is a managerial genius.
If he does well enough with the Blades in the Prem and Hodgson calls it a day, I’d love him at palace.”

Under absolutely no criteria aside from they gave been in the top flight more recently are Palace a bigger club that the Blades.

We will average about 5k more than their modest stadium holds.

They may have the higher wage bill right now but historically they have always been smaller than us.

No idea where they get these delusions of grandeur.

If Wilder were to leave, it would be for a top 6 club or the England job. Not a club that, should they get relegated, will be back to getting 14-16,000 gates.
