So it is upon us, the 'crunch' match we have been anticipating for some weeks, as we 'welcome' Scunthorpe United to BDBL. After securing 4 points in 2 tough away games we have now given ourselves a real chance to exert some pressure on the chasing teams. Scunny seem to be feeling that lately as they look to end a run of three games without a win. Prospect of a cracking match, and a very difficult game to predict. However we are top for a reason, we're at home, and should have no reason to fear anyone in our own division......

Anyway...

Any team news? :)

EEL returning to starting line up?

O'Shea and Riley making do with substitute appearances?

Coutts returning in place of Samir?

Hanson fit?

Scunny have continued to defy the odds this season in terms of maintaining their form until very recently. I say defied the odds, only because they were not one of the highly favoured teams at the start of the season, which shows what a good job they and their management team are doing. But for this afternoon at least I hope they have a real 'stinker' and although a draw would not be a bad result, I'm preferring a 3-0 victory. Remaining grounded but optimistic for the time being....

Is anybody else getting the Wednesday game on bladesplayer (again)?

Half-time 0-0
Really good display from Sheff Utd, played with a high tempo, energy and playing some slick passing. Scunthorpe have took a bit of a beating so far and based on that showing there's a big gulf between the 2 sides.

In the 2nd half we kick against the Kop and it looks nailed on we'll win but I expect a reaction from the dissapointing Scunnie players and whilst it stays 0-0 they have a chance.

Really good game, so unlucky not get more than a point.
Once again there was some questionable refereeing but that's the case every week.

Can't see how Scunthorpe are second based on their performance today though.
Bring on Bolton!

I fear Bolton will be tougher. Thought Scunny were poor which makes it more frustrating

Really enjoyed that and got the result I predicted. I have to say though that the linesman on the John Street side was F*****G gash! Looked half asleep, missed 2 or 3 clear off sides and fouls. Could have cost us the game, luckily he didn't.

Hard fought game, very physical and i thought we were unlucky not to get all 3 points. Having said that , I think a draw was a fair result.

The first half was probably the best I've seen us play certainly all season and probably for several seasons. We were completely on it – and that was as good an atmosphere we've hadn't since the Charlton cup game.

The 2nd half didn't quite match that, but we were still generally in control though far too often lacked a decent final ball or a bit of luck.

Not sure I agreed with all the changes. Lavery for Hanson possibly, but I'd have liked us to go 4-3-3 as we did towards the end of the Peterborough game. The Done introduction also seemed to coincidence with chaos down our left hand side in those dying minutes...

I'm angrier with the result than I am pleased with the performance, by a long way, but one positive, albeit an unsurprising one is that the preparation, attitude and application seemed absolutely spot on and that makes me confident we'll deal with all the other big games coming up and that we'll perform when it matters.

We were rubbish 2ns half took the foot off the pedal when they were down8
to 10.
