sharp misses sitters too, this mcgoldricks not as good bit , well theres very few who are as good as Sharp
was a very difficult chance coming from behind a defender at knee height, ,was not a sitter

It was a sitter, no amount of wishful thinking will change that. Screenshot below is just before the ball gets to McGoldrick, any form of decent contact on it and he scores - either into the bottom left or back across the keeper.

Sharp is the best finisher at the club.
Morrison will be the best ball player but is one of the poorest finishers (his weakness from what I've seen).
McG falls between the two.
Robinson is easily the quickest (not seen Mousset yet).
McBurnie is the only aerial threat other than Sharp, by rights he should be the best but the jury is out on that (for me).

Why is Morrison in these conversations? He's a central midfielder. You may as well include Fleck, Norwood, Lundstram and Freeman as well.

You can see how I wondered if you’re suggesting dropping McGoldrick for Ravel when you said:

“...I believe, a more natural finisher than McGoldrick. Could this be the intention for Ravel and a potentially lethal long term plan?”

And

“What if Ravel is competition/upgrade for McGoldrick?”

I suppose you could have wondered that, but then I said the exact opposite in a following post.

I think we’ve peaked and won’t be able to improve from here. Hopefully McGoldrick stays with us after we get relegated.

Last season I found myself hoping he would get his missed sitter out of the way early so we could look forward to a goal.

ha ha spot on.... says a lot about McG's all round game that most of us would agree with you but very few wouldn't have him in the squad

You can call it a sitter but he could only throw a leg at it and was unlucky it hit the keeper. Watched Everton v Villa tonight and the cross Theo Walcott missed was a sitter as he had an unimpeded view and could adjust to hit it
Seen Billy Sharp miss at least 50 of those over his spells with us. But we give him the benefit of the doubt

We're so much better with him in the team. Knits it all together. But what he does, that's so important (& Duffy did it too), is he slows the game down in the final third. Oozes composure, allows us to get numbers forward & then we begin to look dangerous.

See post #21 - he's fucking quality. Doesn't flap when under pressure, has that ability to bring the ball under control in tight situations, even when closely marked and then a drop of the shoulder and away, all in one fluid movement - absolute class.
Too often our new boys seem to panic when they get the ball and either it bounces off them or they can't wait to get rid. Thought Sharpy was excellent when we came on too, very clever, some good footwork, strong and very determined.

Say what you want about missed chances but it's so clear how much more of an attacking threat we are with him on the pitch. We hold the ball better and we get a lot more from our midfielder when he's linking it all together.

Yes, it would be nice to have a quicker version of him with better finishing. That player probably costs tens of millions if you want a proven version.

Yes Didsy has missed some chances but who hasn't? Pepe (cost£73 million) last night, Grey at Watford hit it over the bar from inside the 6 yard box, Watford also had one or two other chances one on one and did not score, as did Liverpool from memory. Give the bloke a break.

It's almost impossible to watch a game and not see a chance where someone says "You can't miss that". But even ignoring that, you have to look at what players provide to the team as a whole and, even if McGoldrick is going to waste some chances, we look a lot more dangerous and we hold possession better with him on the pitch.
