It was 1985 another night match and I took my lad he was 8 it’s been a long time coming he’s 44 now ….Blimey …. And we both watched last nights game
One of my favourite ever games on the old open terrace, completely lost our voices due to the shouting/singing. Can’t remember the scoring sequence nor who scored!

Last night's game wasn't boring, just really nervy listening in on the radio. That said, I was starting to nod off towards the end due to having little sleep the previous night. I just about remember hearing the final whistle, next thing I was woken by Radio Sheffield replaying the goal as they were signing off for the night. My first thought, being half asleep still and y'know, being a Blade, was fuck it, they've fucking equalised.

On TV we looked very solid, it felt like we were not going to concede. Not had that feeling for a long time.

RS get too excited on commentary when the ball gets near the penalty box, its only til you watch highlights you wonder why they were.

Still defrosting from Boxing Day morning defeat there when Mike Trusson got sent off. Remember walking to the Lane, setting off from home at 4.30am, to get the coach down. Bloody heating didn’t work and 2-1 defeat added to the misery !! 1980 I think.

Case in point last night. "Mitrovic flashes one across the face of the goal". In my head while listening that one's rolling along the line with no Utd players anywhere to be seen. In reality, well wide and Wes has it covered.

I can beat that same game Fulham score after 5 mins blades fans me included shout fuck off Fulham ,next minute arm up back from copper out you go son 😀

Was it the game when Steve Foley scored Twice if so I was there remember in pubs near ground they were selling wards and stones
Can’t remember fella and can’t find match details online, though Foley was with us that season.

Good call on the pubs, we went on a coach that dropped us at Putney Bridge early doors (it was an evening game) and there was The Crown pub (no longer there) which was a Ward’s boozer run by a Blade.

When they still had the open terrace I got ejected, but was able to get back in by climbing a tree on the riverbank. Didn't last long though. The same steward who lobbed me out clocked me again, and I was back on the street within 5 mins of getting back in.

I went in 1978 when the game was on the same day as the boat race. You could see it go past from the away terrace and everybody piled to the side to watch and shout obscenities. I think we lost 2-0.

I was at the game myself, think we won 3-2 didn't we? Midweek game, and remember the green front of the match day program (covered with a football pitch graphic). We always seemed to be strong at home and shite away in those days so any win away was most welcome surprise. Another win away in remember for some reason around that time was the 2-0 win at Blundell Park. Edwards and another scoring.

Wish that existed when I lived in Putney

I went to that one too, 3-2, Stigger Foley with 2 and perhaps Withe with the other one???

"Thank you very much for the 3 points Fulham ... "

That was annoying me too on the commentary last night.

One of the dullest matches in history that was until the last minute.
That was the match where Adrian Chile's offered a £5 to anyone still watching in extra time I think. On itv4 or something

Cockerill
Was cheap ticket interrailing it around France for that game. Before the days of mobiles/internet etc. Was in a bar in Biarritz trying to get through to Bladesline for the result. Remember the Bladesline message saying that the scorers were 'Foley, Cockerill, and Foley'. Got a load of Frenchies singing 'Oh when the Blades go marching in.....'
