Any chance of him getting a start Chris? Most talented player we've had in yonks and yet he sits on the bench week in week out, poor kid must have splinters in his arse.

Just maybe the boy wonder is as good as everyone reckons so start him for the remainder of the season and see where it takes us. Our current strikers can't hit a barn door with a nuke so what is there to lose?

I do worry we won’t ever really see Brooks in a red and white shirt. Don’t want to sound pescemistic but I’d be surprised if he’s here come August

We do need to try a 5 3 2 1 with Brooks and Duffy either side of Sharp

We might only have him for another 7 games yet he barely gets on the pitch. Very disappointing. Although the red card fucked up his chances of getting on today.

If someone offered 6 Mil with sell on clauses I'd snap their hand off
Well yeah, if they offered ME that money I'd consider it but if someone gave that United and Wilder got 50% of it to use... whats point?? Theres a reason he's our most sought after player.

I'd start him alongside Clarke against Cardiff or behind the front 2 if Duffy isn't back. He's too good to be left on the bench regardless of whether he can do the full 90 or not. That lack of quality in the final third is costing us and if we have any ambition of making the play offs he has to play. It's as simple as that. Now or never.

So so true.

He’s potentially a great talent, but he’s not physically strong enough in my opinion.
He made himself a legend at Hillsborough, but he’s still more suited to coming off the bench as an impact sub where his lack of strength is less of a problem, up against a tiring back four.
I hope we can retain his services for a couple of years, when he’s physically matured and then we will see his real worth ;)

Agreed . And throwing him in from the start against a side managed by Warnock would be absolute madness . He'd have the ever loving shit kicked out of him .

He's not fucking bambi.

Serious question Bruce, when Brooks has started games do you think hes played well ? Ill give you the pig game but what about his starts against Norwich , Wolves , QPR and Milwall ?

Wolves 1st half tore them a new one, Milwall scored a nice goal, QPR they put 5 men on him and he still got away several times, Norwich did a turn from the gods and fluffed the finish.

So all in all sparks of genius in all those games.

My question is to you is 4 starts enough for an enigma like Brooks in a side trying to achieve back to back promotions?

I’d start him with Clarke on Monday with Duffy in behind if fit, may as well go for it Monday it defines our season for me win and I fancy us making top 6

And we need new young strikers this summer whether we keep Brooks or not. If we sell our most promising attacking player for the same value commanded by Gary Madine, what hope for an adequate replacement, never mind the future replacements for Sharp and Clarke?

Don't worry, loads of teams will pay us over the odds so we can replace Sharp and Clarke - I don't think. Brooks is worth what the market says he's worth. I repeat - 6 Mil they can have him. Oh and GLTTL.
Sorry I'm just fed up with with people saying he's the next TC and worth 20 mil

Some wannabe managers think they know better than Chris Wilder.
Wilder will have computer analysis of every players fitness.

He sees Brooks as a massive asset and wants to play him as much as possible.
If he’s not starting him, then it’s due to a very good reason.

However let’s not forget.
Brooks comes on against Burton and he changed the game and looked a class apart.
Then he comes on against Forest and he was really ineffective with terrible decision making.

The Wolves game he was pretty anonymous i thought , It was Clarke who pissed all over them .

Norwich - anonymous - we lost

QPR - anonymous - we lost

Milwall - scored with a cross - we lost

My answer to you is yes 4 starts is enough ( its 5 actually ) for an enigma like Brooks . Should he be thrown in from the start after returning from Glandular Fever - no and please dont throw the Wales U21 game into the hat as an example of what hes physically capable of as a run around for 90 minutes at U21 level is in no way shape or form the same as playing 90 minutes for a playoff chasing side in the Championship . Should he start against Cardif - no fucking way !

Brooks is potentially a real talent . Weve all seen flashes of his brilliance . But he simply should not be saddled with the hopes of us all and thrown in in a reckless manner and expected to be Jesus's second coming as hes very simply not yet at the stage of his career when he CAN be that player ..

Why don't people understand that he's not fit enough to start? GF is a horrible illness and I know from experience it takes months (and sometimes years) to full recover from it. That he's able to play any part in games should be seen as a bonus.

Remember Brian Deane having it for a month or so, he got fit and started the next available game, no fuckin about with the bench for several weeks. Happened to be the Pigs at home and he smashed them to fuckin pieces. Maybe Brooks has a different version?

But that’s the exact point. The market is nuts. It’s crackers. Madine’s transfer proves that.

£6m for Brooks isn’t enough in this market. I’d sooner keep him and gamble on him developing into a proper player than sell him for an amount that buys a thug journeyman.
