Not sure if this should be here or the rumor mill thread, thoughts and predictions for signings/outgoings, my feeling is we'll get shut of Porter (God only knows why he re-signed him) Collins and possibly couple of youngsters on loan as regards incoming Clough will talk up 'we're looking' and we'll huff and puff but ultimately sign maybe a couple of loans.

I understood signing Porter I just don't understend why he doesn't get a shot when it's clear to me Higdon is no better. But I suppose when you play one up top max then chances are limited.

We need 3 or 4 playears if we really are going to do something and step it up. So I expect 3 gambles for the future and one loanee who is half decent.

If we expect nothing , any signings will be a bonus .

Oh and before anyone talks about getting Harry back, he came on for Hull who have crippling injuries so I guess he is going to be somewhere around the first team in January.

Cant believe it but my train fare is 10 p more expensive than it was last week

Darren Bent has joined Derby on loan - does that scupper our chances of getting O'Grady back?

It's nearly 4pm on 2nd January. Some clubs have done business already this Window, including Preston who have signed another striker. Clearly we had nobody lined up for Day One of the Window.

The O'Grady situation is one of those things that happens when you've dilly-dallyed for months and then put all your eggs in one basket.

BTW have we fined Diego yet for tweeting that he was always put on the wing when he played for us? Hope McNulty isn't registered on Twitter, Higdon too.

Being pedantic, they haven't yet, as the window doesn't open until midnight, it's just hit the press in advance of being ratified.

Preston have indeed signed Ebanks-Blake, who has been trialling a number of places and was without a club, having not scored a goal since April 2013.

Silly comments Woodwardfan, from your post it seems the idea of signing someone, anyone, is the key issue, not who we sign. Even sillier given that the Transfer Window hasn't opened yet. I'd love to know how we 'dilly-dallied' over COG? Brighton held all the cards regarding whether COG was allowed to move, so how you arrive at any other conclusion is puzzling.

Calm down mate, there's no point in making these type of comments. It seems that your opinion is guided by how other clubs function, so by that reckoning Man City didn't sign anyone, what conclusions do you draw from that? Few I hope.

You should know better. Don't let the facts get ion the way of ranting about The Blades. :-)

This is the first January window for years that I've not been worried about which of our star players will be sold this time around. Who'd take any of even our better players- ok, Murphy may have some admirers out there, Baxter too, but anyone else? Reid if he was bigger or older perhaps?
We can only hope and dream of getting rid of some of the worse ones such as Porter, McGinn etc.
And don't forger that Joe Ironside has returned from Hartlepool- does he count as our big new signing?

If the board and Mr Clough have had a meeting to discuss the 2014 progress assessment , then we are achieving average in league 1 and above average in the cup. The transfer dealings to date have not been inspirational in 2014 ,but it is Mr Clough job to turn a team into a winning team. I think a number of players will be leaving the blades , with a influx of 1 or 2 players with quality for this league . I am not that optimistic , and not holding my breath , but lets see what surprises SUFC can pull out of the hat .

The route out of the league does appear to be by the play offs , and it is down to the board to have the balls to speculate , and have confidence in Mr Clough and is brother . No quality signings to me , would show a lack of confidence in Mr Clough and Mr Clough judgement on recruitment.

Lets hope it all falls into place.

This reminds me, I must get those transfers off my window.

Thanks Foxy, I am expecting some pieces in place very soon. I'll stop panicking for a few days yet then! I'm worried about our management team's judgement about market values and players and agents "always asking too much".

I was referring to the dilly dallying in getting an effective striker which we knew we needed at the end of last season, some 6 months ago. We ain't got one yet.

I have absolutely no idea who we are supposed to be signing apart from that midfield lad at Chessy...

NC has done it again, set expectations saying he's not waiting he's got his offers in already. Every time he's says it nothing happens until the old 'missed our target' statement is rolled out again.

Forget words let's have actions, I don't believe it anymore, hope I'm proved wrong.

Can't we just spend our transfer kitty on rebuilding Wallace?
It'll be like robocop except with a little scouse guy.
That said, what medical marvels would OUR kitty be able to buy us?
