Look back at Wilder's recent history. Most of the club's he's managed have always caused stress for him with players not being paid, clubs nearing administration, fighting off relegation etc. Then he comes to us and in such a short time took us to the top half of the Premier league, which must have caused more stress during that time and all this without a break. Managers during the close season can't entirely switch off due to planning and recruitment. It's no wonder he's lost his drive and initiative. And must be completely knackered after all these years. There will be the ones who will argue that all managers have the same stress, but do they? The top clubs have the financial support to keep them at the top and those further down the pyramid simply have targets of just surviving.
The best thing the Prince could do his to tell Chris to take a 5 month break on full pay and allow him to go away and recharge his batteries. Come back in May to take on the challenge of instant promotion, during which time hopefully the Prince himself may have secured further financial support for a fresh Premier challenge, Wilder will have had a well deserved rest; be more knowledgeable on how to maintain Premier league status and be ready, willing and able to 'go again'.
The Prince is correct, if he was looking at finding a manager, it would be Wilder he would want to employ if he wasn't already here, so let's make sure the next season commences with a revitalised CW who we all know and love.
With the small matter of who takes us to the end of this season, I'm sure somewhere the Prince has contacts who would oblige. And to those who are now demanding that Wilder be replaced, then come on then, who with? There is no one out there who I would trust my club with.
