The guy needs a break.

Problem with football is massive egos. In many walks of life perfectly good concerns lose their way and creative ways are found to turn their fortunes around. Sometimes some people need to go but not always. The Blades have good players and a first class manager so what do we need to do to turn things round without the blunt instrument of sacking the manager? The guy needs some proper robust support and some pressure taking off without egos getting in the way

Far tougher sport than football and players tend not to act like pussies

I have never seen a game of Rugby Union where there has not been at least one shocking act of violence that if it were to happen on a football pitch would have the whole of the Fleet Street moral majority up in arms about the collapse of our nation’s youth and the bad behaviour of their role models. But if it’s Rugby its okay because they are all “jolly good eggs” and “real men” Riven from top to bottom with snobbery,

I have more time for the Rugby League boys but It’s still not my cup of tea.

Here you go: "I'll pack it in if I ever feel I have to motivate a side in the Premier League. That shouldn't be my job but the players need to go and express themselves and play with a bit of belief."
Belief is drained out of them. Part of his job is to fire them with that belief, and give them the freedom to express themselves with more agressive pressing football.
People need motivating in different ways, some need picking up and dusting off, others need a kick up the arse. That is man management, something that was a CW trademark.
We need it back, fast.

Why would you replace a, at the moment troubled, manager with an untried, inexperienced one?
How about Wilder taking a five month break let Billy take charge whilst he's off?
You got there in the end fella.

Ditto. I can't believe he thinks motivation isn't his job. It comes 1st, 2nd and 3rd on his job description for me.

Agree, although 4th & 5th are-

Develop the team, so after each window in which we spend money, we are stronger on the pitch for the investment

Be tactically fluid to predict, or at least react to the opposition

Look back at Wilder's recent history. Most of the club's he's managed have always caused stress for him with players not being paid, clubs nearing administration, fighting off relegation etc. Then he comes to us and in such a short time took us to the top half of the Premier league, which must have caused more stress during that time and all this without a break. Managers during the close season can't entirely switch off due to planning and recruitment. It's no wonder he's lost his drive and initiative. And must be completely knackered after all these years. There will be the ones who will argue that all managers have the same stress, but do they? The top clubs have the financial support to keep them at the top and those further down the pyramid simply have targets of just surviving.

The best thing the Prince could do his to tell Chris to take a 5 month break on full pay and allow him to go away and recharge his batteries. Come back in May to take on the challenge of instant promotion, during which time hopefully the Prince himself may have secured further financial support for a fresh Premier challenge, Wilder will have had a well deserved rest; be more knowledgeable on how to maintain Premier league status and be ready, willing and able to 'go again'.

The Prince is correct, if he was looking at finding a manager, it would be Wilder he would want to employ if he wasn't already here, so let's make sure the next season commences with a revitalised CW who we all know and love.

With the small matter of who takes us to the end of this season, I'm sure somewhere the Prince has contacts who would oblige. And to those who are now demanding that Wilder be replaced, then come on then, who with? There is no one out there who I would trust my club with.
I’m self employed and I love it but I get no sick pay,no holiday pay,I get rained off, snowed off and fucked off.
I‘m sure Wilder the millionaire would graciously accept that his position is one of luxury and relative ease.

A manager taking a 5 month break from the club that employs him?

He'd look like the biggest pussy in the history of football.

No player would ever play for him ever again, he'd be finished.
Agreed. Nobody woukd take a bloke who's cleared off when it got tough and left it to some other fucker seriously.
