the game

Because for some reason, the tactical plan from throw-ins appears to be from the Brian Howard school of marking yourself out of the game.

This means the taker plays a half arsed percentage game and tosses the ball to the opposition.

The only change to this ever, is the Baxter dummy and turn on the ball approach, which is what he's done for every single throw in put towards him since he joined the club, somehow, the opposition has never noticed this.

Interesting that Adkins after the game mentioned that we spend a lot of time in training discussing throw-ins. He seemed as frustrated as anyone at how bad they were

All our players running towards their man running with the ball, leaving huge gaps for overlapping players. Just like what happened against Swindon.

Jay Mac was man of the match, tried, put a shift in, ran forward, had a shot on goal.

Coutts......not sure what to say, a sunday morning jog is a faster pace than when he had the ball sometimes, usually ending in a Wigan player running towards him (quickly) and taking the ball from his feet.

We just don't have any pace anywhere. Two or three passes and a run, and Wigan were right in our box.

And as has been said before a million times by me and others, what is all this shuffling backwards and allowing a player into our box? Go forward, close them down and stick a f***ing foot in! School boy stuff!

If Sammon cannot be the target man (and he can't) then send him back, don't even waste a spot on the bench. Billy had to do the hold up, lay off, and try and score.

So much was wrong today that I don't know where to start. If anyone still thinks we can scrape into the top 6 (who was at todays game) please tell me how.

As always, UTB

Another game which had players yelling at each other (not positively) at various points. Coutts wouldn't put his foot in a fucking puddle, he was a coward throughout, the only 2 times he made tangble contact with an opponent he managed a yellow card and a penalty.

Billy Sharp spend the last 20 minutes looking like he was going to chin someone.

Cracking description, Coutts and Brayford were fantastic against Bradford, today they may as well have been sat next to me, Coutts especially. I'd never seen a display of such disinterest, lethargy and clumsiness.

Terrible performance, no one looks interested. I know we can't change the manager but we have acquired the Reading Adkins not the Southampton one.
Also shows what strengthening in the transfer window does for a team.

It's not all about pace, moving the ball quicker can have the same effect. Sideways sideways sideways. Don't think they use a ball in. Training. Don't even know what they do in training to be this bad

Mate, we just caught in posession, today was a low point for me.

Was for me. Questioning everything tonight

Thought Basham was probably the best of the four personally, until he came off and got iced. Coutts has played well recently, but had a bit of a mare today.

The four are all to slow and not good enough to be quite frank.

The four blokes who sit next to me (don't know them, we just say hello and nod), were all saying to each other "who would you keep in this team?".

I think they agreed on Billy Sharp and a couple of them said George Long would be worth a punt,

That was it. And on todays performance, I would be hard pressed to disagree.

Agreed. Flog Brayford and use the money. Flog Adams and use the money before everyone else realises he has zero ability to play professional football but would be a world beater at a park kick-about. Zero awareness of how to play either on the wing or up front. Talented he is but not what we need in this division.

Shame about Brayford as he genuinely loves the club (seriously, I have mates who see him and his girlfriend and chat to him), he would be ok if we had a lot of better players around him, but we don't.

The only time passion and commitment was shown in the entire game was when sharp got into a scuffle with Morsy in the box who then spent five minutes rolling around and screaming at the linesman. Sure enough, next time Morsy got the ball, about 30 seconds later, Billy went flying in and smashed him off of the pitch. Best moment of the game.

I have no issue with Brayford, he's not been the same player we first saw but still too good for this league. I'd rather have the money though, as we clearly have none. It was a ridiculous signing (although when I questioned it at the time I was called 'a pig' by some of our 'knowledgeable' fans.

For reasons best known to himself, Badkins chose Sammon (who should never pull a United shirt on again) over Done, Adams and the criminal loaning of McNulty.
For me, the main problem is a lack of 'game brain', speed of thought, nous etc. among most of our players. They cannot anticipate the flight of the ball, where opponents are etc. with the result that opponents are always one step ahead of us. After 5 minutes I said to the guy next to me 'Wigan are going to get a penalty.' This was because twice in that opening spell, they'd skipped into our area and we'd launched mindless lunges (thankfully we were too slow to clip them).

We treat the ball like a hot potato, make passes guaranteed to put our own men immediately under pressure etc. Who is doing the coaching? Who is doing the managing?

I'd agree that Wigan weren't very good. They didn't have to be.
The nail on the head mate,
Football is played upstairs in the membrane.
Vision and anticipation are what makes great footballers, they read the game and that's why they are always
In the right place at the right time to score that goal or recieve that pass.

Might as well give up now then, as they've been the same since he came in. Guaranteed turn over in possession.

That's bad news as we haven't got any that fit that description.
