I think Wilder was right not starting Moose, bring him on later when Morgan was (hopefully) knackered so he could do him for pace... unfortunately within 5 minutes of being on the pitch Moose looked more knackered than Morgan
Problem was if you bring him on when we're behind the other team are generally sitting deeper than usual which nullifies him a bit

Just on your two points, point 1, he addressed this, he's not interested in giving them a bye based on past successes. I understand that, we as fans can do that if we want, but he's not doing his job if he does it. On 2, I don't think it's about expecting them to beat every team, he just expects them to try to.

Agree. But I do think they tried yesterday. It didn’t look like the Man U performance or the Hull performance at all. They were knocking on the door at times, but had to be wary of the counter with Vardy.

Don’t get me wrong the performance could have been better, but I get the impression that Wilder is more or equally as pissed off about the contract situation or the player asking for a day off and this was his outlet.

There is a gulf in quality between us & Chelsea but that didn't prevent our players putting in a shift !

Why don't you stick to your own team ?

You don't seem to know much about the Blades.

If you'd like to learn about us , go and listen to Wilder's postmatch comments.

Us Blades know what we are and by what means we've achieved massively beyond our paper quality this season.
🐷 can’t help himself.

Trouble is he has to except second best because these players are League one and championship players! NOT MY WORDS CW keeps saying it!
Yes, and if they can be more consistent and show the qualities mentioned by CW all the time they will deserve to be classed as PL players.

Wilder dodnt take any of the blame himself for any errors he may have made in team selections, tactics, motivation and preparation. He is also part of the 'group' and, whilst his comments are valid, he appears to exclude himself from any criticism of yesterday's 'no show'
Didn't he pick the same team that beat Chelsea 3-0?

I'm finding all this rather amusing.

When we beat team X and their fans say "we never turned up" "worst performance of the season" etc etc so many of our fans get really precious about lack of acknowledgement for the way we played, negated the opposition and won the game.

Now the boot is on the other foot we have an eight page thread moaning that "we never turned up" "worst performance of the season" etc etc.

Leicester closed us down amazingly quickly all over the pitch which made our lives very difficult by cutting out passing options and forcing quick decisions, and individually and collectively our players weren't good enough to find an answer.

Well played Leicester, you were too good on the day.

Maybe we should just shrug our shoulders, say it was one of those days.

I remember Leeds Rhinos losing to St Helens by 70pts some years ago and the coach, Tony Smith, just shrugged his shoulders and said "bad day at the office"

Rhinos went on to win the championship that year.

Maybe Wilder should have done the same, I'm a great believer in public praise and private criticism and I can't see what good castigating his team in public could possibly do.

Certainly wouldn't have me wanting to work for him.

Bring on Everton.

That Leicester were tonked 4-1 by Bournemouth on Sunday shows that all teams have an off day... losing to Leicester was one of ours. We had a day extra to recover than Leicester, yet they were sharper, looked fitter, and stuck to a plan. Our lads looked leggy tired, and one or two ... McB seemed to be the most obvious to me... had their heads down and jogged through much of the match. Ate we overtraining? Is that a thing? Should we expect a small core squad of players to play at 90% + effectiveness at a rate of 2 matches per week?

Glass still half full here though... I just think we could have done with the season ending after Chelsea.....

I saw a gulf in quality between yourselves and Bournemouth the other night. I suppose it's how you bounce back that matters.

I always enjoy how long it takes for those who complain about poor punditry, and entitled fans from other clubs, to become more entitled themselves.

Wilder is the greatest English manager in the country according to some on here......But then when he claimed last night that his squad was full of 'league 1 and championship players', those same people were questioning his judgement, labeling it 'harsh' and 'unfair'.

The proof is in the pudding as they say. Football is all about winning, if Liverpool/Man City/Chelsea/Leicester/Man United/Arsenal/Spurs/Wolves etc etc, genuinely believe that Sheffield United have individual quality of players to improve them, they will try and sign them in the summer.

I wonder how many sides will try and sign Fleck/JOC/Egan? Lets see.....I can't see there being many takers personally.

Wilder was correct in the point he was trying to make. The strength of the side comes from the collective. There's not the level of individual ability in that squad to play at this level at much below 100%.

You could go crazy here, did they have a good game and that made us look poor, or did we have a bad game and that made them look good, I think it was a bit of both really.
It looked as if they wanted it far more than we did, and we were second to so many balls it got to be really embarrassing.
But I think the thing that really got up Mr Wilders nose was the way the team seemed to just lay down and accept they were having a bad day at the office.
Not Mr Wilder or the Blades way at all ..
We looked like we did in the first few games after the break, sluggish,....

Like i'm not being touchy or abusive here but why do you spend so much time on here? Its fun to hear another clubs fan perspective but you are borderline obsessed with this website. Well done for the win and a fantastic season btw. 👍

I follow Blades....
How many more times do I have to make that clear?

I'm not sure why you have an issue with that.....Why do you?

CQ , you are just a WUM. You think you are clever by highlighting the gulf in quality between the Blades + most of the PL , but we already know this. It can't be anything else , since unlike Foxes , we don't have rich backers. And we've just come from L1.
We know that our success has been based on a good system & 100% effort & teamwork.
We can win games only by players being at their max.
Unless you have a sackful of cash to donate to our recruitment , please stop stating the obvious + piss off to a Foxes website.
CW & fans are entitled to criticise as performance like last night's , because apart from Hendo , the whole team looked disinterested , half-hearted , careless with the ball & slow to challenge , which is unacceptable.
Even if we had been at our max , we may well have lost , due to Foxes matching our desire & having greater quality.
But it would not have left such a sour taste.
We are unlikely to have much £ to recruit this summer , so we are looking for the men who will stand up + be counted in next season's battle for survival , which will be harder than this season.
The Lane is not a place for faint-hearted players - I reckon that CW was bitterly disappointed to discover some faint hearts on Thursday.
All joking apart , it was a very significant match for us + the players didn't respond with anything like the right attitude.
Which is inexplicable really.
It's a shame there are only 2 games now for players to redeem themselves , because I can see some being shown the door if they don't.

Wilder does right to bollock them in public when the occasion merits it, which lets be reyt hasn't been very often in his time here. He's put together a team and squad that have a bit of character and backbone, and will respond positively after copping for it in public.

Wilder doesn't bring in shrinking violets, the players will take it on the chin and respond accordingly. Wilder knows that, that's why he did it.

Blades net transfer spend this season is higher than anything we have had since promotion.....
Its a myth that Blades haven't spent big this season.

So what are you saying ? Are you saying we have a PL quality squad or not ?We haven't signed any proven PL quality as far as I know. Prices were crazy preCovid.
Your net spend was helped by massive profit on Maguire.
Are you saying CW has made poor signings ?
Our wagebill is the lowest in PL.
Please tell us what you would have done differently.
We are now hit with Covid at just the wrong time when we have stretched our budgets.
You have said we don't have the quality - please offer us a solution.

Nothing to add to your post, just thought I'd correct that.

Invest in scouting - It's why we are where we are.
Pay at least 'average' wages - If you cant even keep Lundstram when your wage budget is this low still, thats worrying.

And our Net Spend has nothing to do with Maguire before this season.
Blades have spent 2.5x the amount this season than we did after promotion, and the net spend is higher than we have spent any season.iir

The wage disparity is a fair one.....
But that comes from being at this level longer.

According to 'The Athletic' our wage bill is 25% of the PL average - we have no wealthy backers so transfer fees have to come out of income - in PL terms we are a poor as a church mouse. The odds against our survival next season are huge. Are you saying we don't scout widely enough ?

Sick of seeing your name appear spouting absolute tripe!! Aint you got some leicester fans you can go annoy instead?

Got better things to do with my saturday than discuss blades with a creepy leicester fan that lurks this board all day long.

Why you prodding someone and running away?
That's far more 'creepy' and strange.

I just wanted you to tell me why you think Wilder is not one of the better managers in the country?
And why you think McBurnie and Berge are a complete waste of money and not good enough?
