If we fail to get promoted this season, (I personally don’t think we will get anywhere near) then what does the future hold?

I’ve never heard so many people say they will chuck their Season Ticket in if Blackwell stays in charge and we continue to produce the tripe that we have been forced to watch this season. We are in a false position because the CCC is such a bizarre division, we are only 10 points ahead of Wendy in 5th bottom FFS so a couple of defeats could easily see us languishing mid-table again.

What happens next year when we average crowds of 18-19K? (and it WILL happen). With one of the highest wage bills in the division it will only lead to more players exiting BDTBL, which in turns reduces the quality of the squad, which then turns us into a very mediocre CCC team setting us back even further.

I presume most of you have guessed that this will turn into an anti-Blackwell rant and you are indeed correct. “Brand Blackwell” is killing our club from within and what annoys me even more is that McCabe is letting him do it and Trevor Birch seems to have had very little impact so far, (from what we can see anyway).

I’m fed up of the lies coming out of BDTBL, fed up of the spin, fed up of the “delusions of grandeur”, fed up of the crap football, fed up of McCabe, fed up of Blackwell, fed up full stop.

For Heavens sake McCabe, wake up and smell the coffee, we aren’t going up and we are teetering on the edge of a very deep abyss. Behind the glossy exterior of Bramall lane with its hotel and plans for extensions, (see delusions of grandeur quote) is a rotten core, we, (the fans) are all being taken for mugs and unless changes are made and quick we are going to find ourselves in a whole heap of shit.

Pure unadulterated brilliance Torrix. Poetry. Tremedous stuff and 100% spot on.

Beighton, you were telling Blades about some kind of pleasant surprise which was to occur towards the end of January.

What exactly was it that didnt come to fruition?

and we're only 11 points of automatic promotion FFS get a grip. I also heard many more people threatening to chuck their tickets under Nobson than Blackwell

Whilst I don't entirely disagree with the heading for this post, I think its a little on the pessimistic side. The truth is were short of cash ad will be for the forceable future.
I also don't like the way we are playing, but we are getting results, and I think we have a good chance of reaching the play offs. You have to take your hat off to Blackie, he's had a terrible season with injuries, and has had a large part of the team sold from under him in the last 12 months. The fact is though we are still there or there abouts and possibly slightly higher in the league than this time last season. Keep the faith.

I feel pretty much exactly the same - except for the edge of abyss bit. Unless somebody knows something I don't and isn't sharing the detail then I can't see us slipping off the edge into anything other than interminable mediocrity.

What I think we are losing (or have already lost) is the chance to cement our position as a top division fixture and top dog in the city. That light was flickering badly when Robson was appointed and was all but extinguished when we didn't somehow scrape into the play-offs at the end of that season. Last season's failure at Wembley felt like confirmation that it had gone out - and I think much of this year's moaning and mumping is us refusing to come to terms with it.

Unless there are some serious problems elsewhere in the conglomerate, I can't see us falling into administration and serial relegations any time soon. Whilstever Wednesday are in the same sphere of mediocrity the rivalry keeps both sides of the city talking bollocks and interest at a level that sustains near 20k crowds for both clubs - again, neither recipe for success or disaster.

This will only change if we either screw up the football finances completely in a futile bid for success, or if we unearth the footballing purist's Bassett.

I find Blackwell totally uninspiring and his tactics and public relations skills bordering on abhorent. That said, his job is to keep us in with a shout of promotion whilst the club adapts to circumstances - in which case he's not doing bad. I can't speak for the players or the rest of the footballing world, but brand Blackwell and our circumstances would seem to be plain to see.

Our circumstances are depressing - as a supporter of 25+ years it looks like I've got more of exactly the same ahead of me. The odd flirtation with success, the odd dabble in abject failure and the rest of the time a procession of nearly-men on and off the field for us to take the piss out of.

With that in mind, I've enjoyed a lot of the last 25 years - so I'm not suicidal yet.

I like that Cheshire, especially the bit about taking the piss out of officials and players - which is about all we have left. Abhorant PR and tactical skills - love it. You could apply that to McCabe as well on football matters at least.

I think you're underplaying the extent of fiscal troubles at Blades Realty but plenty don't and they have as much chance of being right as I have.

It's been so much worse in the recent past. It's all relative to me.

Up The Blades! :D:thumbup:

Just when we thought it couldn't get any worse, along comes the clapper in chief...

Thats right Len. I clap everything. I keep on clapping. Clap clap clap, even though I know it makes everything a lot worse. I take sole responsibility for our perilous position, here above the abyss...

Chump...

How about...'Stop flouncing around like mardy teenagers...' ..?

Duncs I have been as big a clapper as anyone so maybe I am allowed a good old moan.
I'm not going to start slating people either, but I have lost a hell of a lot of interest in United.
I'm not billy big time here for the premiership etc. I've followed United for 40 of my living years now (btw i'm 48 today so sing to me Duncs) but I feel as though I have had my football enthusiasm drained from me ever since Warnock was sacked.
The atmosphere has virtually dissapeared and I am certain a lot of fans will do the same next season. At the moment I am looking forward to the season ending because it is not enjoyable.
The way I feel just now I will be one of the many not taking up the chance of renewing my season ticket. I feel this way even if we are in the Premiership I have become very disillusioned with the way the club is being run from top to bottom.
The only person who seems to show any enthusiasm is Gary Sinclair.

Lighten up if you are worried about catching the clap ,just get a script for cipro or erythromycin they will get the red out.

How dare you refer to a fellow poster as a chump? That young sonny Jim is a serious infraction, and I hope the administrators of the site have taken note and will deem it fit to act accordingly.......even more so when you really are the clapper in chief.

No one's asking anyone on here to take responsibility for the clubs plight but deary me, the way you and your fellow seals see fit to defend the indefensible would appear to state a case for me to, dare I say it, refer to you also as a CHUMP

But I'm a very nice man and wouldn't sink so low so keep clapping and smiling and having a really good time, just don't mention to anyone that you're a Blade or they might just take the piss out of you ;)

:gallop:

Mieeaaaooowww.
To think I was going to ask how to invoke the holy Blades spirit to get me through this difficult time.
A few incantations, human sacrifices, that sort of thing.

Well I never wanted to chuck my ticket even under Robson, now Blackwell is just a cant

Just thought I'd bump this one up...........

I also said 3 weeks ago that playing Henderson and Cresswell up top would make us too one dimensional.

So what does clueless do..................

...........and we gat played off the park in both games and ship 6 goals.

Get him out NOW before he does anymore damage.
