The history books will show another glorious goal for the granny shagger.

From behind Mempiss it looks like a dive but from the other side it's clear contact and not insignificant in all honesty. In the Premier League it's definitely a penalty and that's the rules we have to play by. The same applies when Premier League teams play in Europe (i.e. a misplaced breath = penalty).

His dramatic leap and collapse to the ground is pretty pathetic though. £25 million for that embarrassement - I'd rather give that money to our lot and take our chances.

Was it? Not sure. But Hammond certainly touched his shin with his foot, but does physical contact constitute a penalty? And yes he made a meal of that is certain.............it is irrelevant............L1 here we come

he gets tagged a little bit...stays on his feet if you pause it right as he slides past him..then kicks his heels up and dives for the effect!! was a way too soft penalty.
He gets fouled, therefore it's a penalty. There is no onus on him to play on. Too many refs aren't strong enough to play on and then call it back if they don't score for the penalty. He was 100% right to go down under that challenge and would have been stupid not to.

It was an unfunny originality at first, now it's starting to piss me off. Well done. :)
Glad it does piss you of pig boy tbh. Only you would concentrate on the one mistake all game rather than give credit to the lads for a performance where Long never had a save to make until the dubious penalty. Then you wonder why the vast majority of forum users think you are at best a WUM .......................... Well done to you Sir

And that is exactly why modern football and modern footballers are so contemptible.

I note that some go down more quickly than others and are thus correspondingly more contemptible.

Apart from pissing me off tonight it makes me sad...it's not why sport was invented.

It gets so annoying sometimes that I even think fondly of egg chasers. Truly a game for gentlemen played by hooligans and vice versa.

Very forthright aren't you. I've offered my opinion on the whole game in the appropriate threads and on the shout box, I haven't focused on the one mistake at all. It's a thread about the penalty and I've posted about, guess what? The penalty.

If you see it reasonable to call me a pig, then please find it reasonable for me to call you a twat. I can play that game all you want, "Sir". :)
Personal abuse :eek::eek::eek::eek: What do I do now ? Should I go whinging to Foxy and Linz ??? tell me pig boy

from the bbc

Sheffield United looked to have secured a lucrative replay at Bramall Lane but, as the game entered the 90th minute, Memphis broke into the area and fell as he was challenged by midfielder Dean Hammond.

His acrobatic reaction suggested the hosts may have got lucky when referee Jon Moss pointed to the spot, but replays showed there was limited contact.

"I thought it was a penalty but it was an absolute shocking performance from Manchester United," BBC Radio 5 live pundit Robbie Savage said.

"For me, Van Gaal, I'd get rid of him."

You should get some grammar lessons, I know that. Shocking.

I've retracted it now by the way, I didn't want to stoop to your level. It appears I did. :(

I've had my fair share, I wasn't sure whether it was time to start dishing. :)

Anyway, take a seat on my ignore list fella. Can't be doing with wasting my time on people like you.

It's hard cross posting through an argument :):):)...Brian Clough is my football hero. I was very sorry Nigel didn't work out for us.

He'd be asking for the rules to be applied and a penalty given.
Stop being such bad losers and going to pathetic lengths to moan about a perfectly legitimate penalty.
The player was infringed and caught without any shadow of doubt, therefore why should he be disadvantaged? His advantage had gone, the ball would have been cleared, it's a clear penalty and Sheffield United manage to grab defeat from the jaws or victory (for the coffers at least) again. If you're as old as you claim you should be used to it by now, gallent losers is one of the few things we do consistantly well.

So exciting attacking players should be disadvantaged when fouled and should play on? It's not contemptible it's just logical if you want the see the best of the game. The alternatives is that everyone doesn't moan when the ref brings is back if they don't score, which they would.
